  • We need to treasure these people while we can. Thanks so much for posting!

    cheers,

    julie

  • John and Jacqui are just amazing (as were the rest of Pentangle). Wonderful wonderful music. Many thanks for the posting.

  • awesome! this tablature is IMPOSSIBLE to find though. anyone know any links. i've been working through The Hermit, and am ready to move to the next john renbourn picking madness, and this would be perfect!

  • @AaronWonders

Do yourself a favor and learn by ear. It may seem impossible, but it's how he learned it to begin.

  • @shpongledmonk Ive been doing myself favors for a long time now, lol! learning by ear has its advantages (i know, ive been there), but learning ONLY by ear has its disadvantages also; for instance the guitarists youll run into who just cant figure out how to advance their playing beyond their current skill. i dont mind the thought of the ear method, but im working on picking now. some of the picking here sounds pretty hard to discern note-for-note precision out of by ear alone. i'll try though!

  • What a great song. Takes me back 25 years to a time when I still didn't know I'd have to live this song out in my own life. Have been looking for an LP called : "A John Renbourn Sampler - volumes 1&2, on which I first heard this, since then. Anyone seen volume II? Like, ever? Our world's a better place for the soul and music of John Renbourn and Pentangle. Jaqui McShee, Sandy Denny, et al.

  • John and Bert are the masters. In their hands a guitar becomes something from another world ...

  • thanks for this, thats some niffty finger picking by john. Just discovered this song today and am checking out all the other covers

  • What a legend! i love his playing

  • Excellent.

  • He kind of looks, and sounds like, that bum in Two guys, a girl and a pizza Place, overlooking that, he is a legend.

  • John now looks like Santa Claus and his voice is shot to hell but his nimble fingers are as agile as ever.

  • the best

  • I came across this song by accident... oh so wonderful. I think it is just perfect, cannot stop repeating it.... is divine.

  • Hey Ann Thanks for sharing this clip.

    I love this song.

  • Wow what a master guitarist--the way his fingers dance between verses!

  • Brilliant guitar playing by John but i much prefer Bert Jansch's version.

  • I prefer Franks! Jansch is immortal in my eyes, but I never liked his cover. I'm more of a Rosemary Lane guy.

  • guitar playing fabulous!

    singing - mediocre

  • whats the point in saying that? :)

  • thats because Renbourn is one of the most influential guitarists of all time, which gives him license to sing how he wants! ;)

    Peace , si

  • faboulouuuus! Awesooome!

  • this is wonderful

  • Thanks for posting. Is that Jacqui McShee on his right?

  • yes it is Jacqui i have a couple of more short clips from the gig i may post them

  • Absolutely fabulous

  • The Brits always talk about Jackson C. Frank with a lot of respect.
