  • Holy Shht, how does that happen??

  • In these cases, I recommend getting a rebuilt rack from any store out there. If you want to take a risk and save some money, you could try to get a seal kit and re-seal the rack yourself. (Not recommended as the job required various tools).

  • @bestpartsonline10 what tools would you need? specialty tools made just for power steering (rack & pinion) or can any average joe with a tool cabinet full of general tools?

  • @NORTEVISTAFIGHTS There are specialty tools that will make the job easier but you can always improvise if you have a good set of tools. If you go to the facebook link on bestpartsonline, there is a guide with photos on installing seals on a rack. or just google it. You need to grease the seals during installation. Also you should use a plastic to cover the sharp edges on the shaft when installing a seal. Seal is useless if the lip is cut. Tedious work - Not a tire change job.

  • Wow!

  • Yeah it's called cheap seals.....Bring back the worm and roller steering systems they last longer...

  • used parts are cheaper ... some are imported from Japan still in very good shape.

    rack &pinion are expensive.

  • Oil seal already worn out. That happened to my 93 Civic.

  • is that a toyota or lexus i got the same problem n my 91 ls400 :{

  • @AdThaDon2k8 Looks like a mustang to me.

  • what cause that kind of problem

  • Im not going to continue this pointless conversation and shouldnt have started it to begin with.

  • Seals are fun.

  • AHH wdf! looks like ATF in there.

  • @EJConrad Dude its a freaking inner tie rod boot. Its probably Lucas Steering Fix. ATF?! WTF?!

  • @Dooboo93 you gotta question?

  • @Dooboo93 toyota lexus vehciles use ATF as powersterring fluid

  • My car needs a new steering rack. When I turn, it makes a sort of low pitched squeaking/grinding when I drive. Even as the RPM goes up, so does the noise, is this just because of the steering rack, or more?

  • does this problem causes it to turn hard on one side or wat

  • blood!!! lol

    it sucks

  • try looking a "Flaming River" for new rack.

    excellent quality
