  • @cloudy919 who cares where you are from, israel is the cruelest place on earth, don't know what you gain by mentioning it.

  • This song is pretty but it corrupts me.

  • Her vibrato is waaaaay too harsh.

There should be more singers with such unique and ethereal voice like her!

  • holy shit! (zut alors for les francophones)

  • I first heard Vas some years ago without knowing who I was hearing, only that I loved it.A while after,i was browsing in a shop, and this was playing on the sound system;was familiar with the piece from an album done in a purely historical style.fell in love with the sound of azam ali's voice at once, and that was all she wrote!this is a beautiful, beautiful performance, and it's lovely to find others enjoying as well-i usually get blank looks when I speak of her,and of Vas!

  • thanks for posting the lyrics, I've been wanting to learn this song, but couldn't find the text anywhere

  • @foooshle For the full text,of this and two other songs on this same album, you can find them in the insert of the album 'Bella Domna; The Medieval Woman:Lover,Poet,Patroness and Saint' by Sinfonye. You might find the difference in a more purely historical performance interesting;I came to Azam Ali after being familiar with Sinfonye and other similar performers, and love them both. The songs are A Chantar M'er,and Aj Ondas. Not enough room in the space we're provided to list the full sets of lyrics!

  • this is amazing, i wonder why more people havnt remixed her songs

this is a very underrated artist i think :)

    respect

  • Absolutely wonderful.

  • Her voice and style of music sounds a lot like Loreena McKennitt - I love it!

  • alright,cool thanks.

  • Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Blackmore's Nights are the ones I can think of just off the top of my head.

  • Mercan Dede is pretty close, but they don't often use lyrics. There are some songs where Niyaz sang for them. Check them out, you might like them.

  • ill check them out.thanks

  • Where is she from her name is Persian?nice work

  • she is Iranian

  • That's right. She's an Iranian, grew up in India, and is now based in the US.

  • Petrarchan era French. Very cool. It's neat how it has sort of a moresca sort of Persian feel as the song progresses.

  • Beautiful music :D !!! But, I'm french and it's very difficult to unterstand the lyrics (only some words)

  • doesn't the picture look like Alanis Morissette?

  • mükemmel offf.....

  • Great Voice... Great Music... I will never stop enjoying this song...

Many Thanks for sharing this with us

  • no shes a chick butthole.....

  • AHH! I love Azam Ali... it's like, awesome how she does her songs in multiple languages and she's a great singer... im studying persian and like to see if i can understand her persian songs.

  • What an angelic voice!

  • I think I prefer this solo album compared to the solo album she recently came out with. I like her better singing naturally, not with pop and synthesizing sounds behind the voice.

  • Beyond awesome !!!!!!!

  • Yes!

  • she is an angle, born on this earth. Religious be u or be u not, you cannot deny her beauty, as irreplaceable as mother nature, as beautiful as the devil is evil, as the ogre it ugly, because she sounds as if she were the constant breathing of the purest soul, and as she she is as beautiful as a waterfall of the purest water, and she sounds like the wind rushed from beneath the dragon's wings from which he is taking flight, may her voice embrace us all in the moment if and only if, 4 a moment.

  • Fail

  • lawl

  • @DarkLover7713 "as irreplaceable as mother nature" what the...........? she is a singer NOT SUPERMAN!!!

  • @lunatic0216 as if i couldn't express how i feel about her voice. and superman was just a silly show and a silly movie. as if he were any better

  • @DarkLover7713 Holy cow, guy! I think you're smitten:-)

  • @DarkLover7713 An angle? Really? Must be nice to be so geometric. XD

  • @DarkLover7713 LSD or THC? :P

Just kidding, well put. Beautiful voice!

  • @DarkLover7713 calm down shes just singing......

  • I hadn't heard of her until about 1 month or so ago and now I can't stop listening to her.

I was looking for Lisa Gerrard and youtube gave me the recommendation to check her out.

She is amazing. You know it's great when it sounds so effortless like this song. 5/5!

  • Superbe...

  • yup, she growing up one of part iran ,we call it bakhtiyarian, and most of her song it's by that languech, and she is my favorit, i love her voice

  • and bakhtiaris are historically a nomadic people similar to persians and kurds with their own language( probably between kurdish and persian) and culture.

  • she has an angelic voice

  • *-* I love Azam Ali

  • why is her voice so AMAAAAZZIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *sigh*

  • Lasse, pour quoi refusai Celui qui tant m'a amee? Lonc tens a a moi muse Et n'i a merci trouvee. Lasse, si tres dur cuer ai! Qu'en dirai? Forssenee Fui, plus que desvee, Quant le refusai. G'en ferai Droit a son plesir, S'il m'en daigne oïr. would this be troubadour lyrics from the north or south?
  • South, according to the insert.

  • Sorry, but the lyrics given by GoldenAwakening are in Old French. At this moment of time, the language in South France was *not at all* French, it was old Occitan (close to the Catalan, for instance).

So those lyrics are not from South France. But they can be a translation of the original lyrics in Old French.

  • Right. Occitan was spoken in the bottom third of France and is a completely different langauge from French. It has millions of speakers, is 80% mutually intelligible with Catalan (a non castillian language of eastern Spain) and has similarities with Italian, Spanish and French. Occitan words. Benvinguda=welcome, bon jorn, merces, Adieusiatz

  • @AJMusicgirl : The insert is wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • @GoldenAwakening The theme is "fine amor" in the southern traditon of what was called "amour courtois" (12th-3th century). As for the text, it seems to correspnd to the 15th northern traditon (syntax especially) re-adapted with rythm and music typically 12th-13th southern.

  • @GoldenAwakening

Actually I'd rather say north, unless it's a much later period.

  • @aloiis Troubadour music comes from the Occitaine language , I live in the center of Occitane culture. It comes from the south, then the musicians traveled to the north to play therefore it would come to the north in a later period.

  • @stcazares I live there also. ;) The language from several troubadour/trobairitz is different than heard in this one song, which is why I wondered if indeed this one comes from a later period.

  • a nice substitute for lisa gerrard. at least this is what lisa used to sound like before she got into doing film scores

  • Azam Ali sounds "like" Lisa, maybe a little. In my opinion she is better and more interesting. She has much more World Music elements (indian, persian, turkish, balkan, irish etc.) in her songs and melodies than Dead Can Dance ever had. She uses e.g. verses from great Poets like Khayyam.

  • "like" lisa ?? ROFL. Lisa owns m8 but OK, azam is an amazing singer

  • What do you mean by "m0"?

  • substitute? As if gerrard wasnt. White girl singing arabic music.

  • ı ill this music

  • I would say it again and again...Azam Ali is One of the Purest and most Awe-inspiring voices worldwide! Love her work with Vas, as a Solist on Portals of Grace and also with her new project NIYAZ.
