  • please answer... what is that cage like thing around your camera? i know its to make it stable but what is it called???? plleeasee answer

  • Also dragon stop motion.

  • where do u get your lego?

  • anything for macs?

  • How come you have istopmotion on a pc?

  • wmm may not be for stop motion but if u know how to use it it makes great videos. but takes longer.

  • do you know any free stop motion programs that are easy to use?

  • Why don't you make more videos anymore?

  • monkey jam is good for short animation test but for long ones i wish i hade stopmotion pro but its so expensive and monkey jam works better when you use your web cam

  • cant windows media player work?

  • i use mocie maker its good and easy

  • monkey jam works fine for me

  • I recently got Monkey Jam. And its not responding to anything + ITS ACTING SLOW SO ITS RETARDED CRAP!

  • Then your computer sucks cause for me it works perfect and my computer crash for anything....

  • what are the sticky tack for?

  • Sticking your set down.

  • I didn't know you had Monkey Jam

  • I use VideoImpression 2.

  • how many mega pixels should you digital camera be, because mine is 10 mega pixels

  • Really? Mine is 8.1 mega pixels

  • cool

  • well monkey jam is all people need for animating. You can cpture frames, download free, and adjust how many frames you want. and that improtant because you can select how many frames you want. or you can type in how many frames you want but how many frames he's probably using is mabet 15 but hes now using monkey jam to make his videos that he makes!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i know u use a webcam but could u use a digital camera

  • How do you move the head without moving the whole body? I know it's attached but it's still easy to come off sometimes. Also did you know that one of my Lego men actually has his hair virtually stuck to his head so i don't have to move the head to move the hair too. I just have to grab the hair and move it! Convienient, huh? Cool tutorial 5/5! Please answer my question at the start of this comment!

  • i got helium frog is that good?

  • whats wrong with just plain ol' Windows Movie Maker?

  • nothing

  • Well, except for the fact that it looks terribly cliched when you use its effects improperly, and it tends to VERY often glitch. A very nice program is Pinnacle Studio, which is a fairly reasonable price, and it comes with a lot of functionality and it is far more stable.

  • yeah hes right

  • Comment removed

  • Computuw

  • where do you download monkeyjam

  • the page of it , u click on downlaod , u scroll down , and it will appear some info optional and the download button

  • LOL! The way he says computer!

    0:46

    1:01

  • thank you sooo much for putting these tutorials up. U RULE!

  • I make with Monkey Jam and i think its very good :)

  • i dont know how to use monkey jam lol

  • Could you use a normal video camera instead of a webcam?

  • Thats what it do. It's hard. :P

  • no, get stopmotion or digital blue movie creator

  • I have one question I use for my stop motoin I use Windows movie maker is that a good animation place or do I need to use a another one insted? pleae respond.

  • does anybody know a program that doesnt take up as much space as monkey jam?

  • I use windows movie maker try that.

  • cool :)

  • cool. i didn hear about monkey jam before now. i downloaded it on the computer and its realy cool. thank you =D

  • You don't have to have your camera connected to your computer when you take the pics. I just take the pics, plug in my camera, and put it on adobe premiere elements when Im done animating.

  • it isnt as good of a process i did it and it wasn't that good at all

  • works just fine for me.

  • How did I not realize the song in the backround?!?!? That song in the backround is from Beast! :D

  • cool but how did you build your canon cage because i have th same one?

  • wow nathanwells keeps his computer his download shortcuts nicely on his desktop but knox korner has his files everywere lol check out knox korners vid the big problem and youll see how unorganized he is

  • what webcam do you get

  • I used to use a Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000, but now I use a still digital camera, a Canon Powershot A85.

  • can you use a video camera and take pictures

  • The key part of stop-motion animation is taking still images, instead of live video. If your video camera can can still images, and also remotely connect to your computer, then it should work. But using a still digital camera or a webcam might work better for stop-motion animation.

  • now i got the lamp the tape i still need the camra

  • now i got the program now i need a camra a and lamp

  • thx for telling me about monkeyjam I really didn't know which program i should use thx again

  • well... i just use WMM... kindda simple but takes alot of time!

  • WMM is the worst program to use for StopMotion

  • Ya I know I am gonna get Sony Vegas in like a week

  • what wmm

  • it sucks dude

  • what does it mean

  • WMM stands for Windows Movie Maker. It is not designed for stop-motion image capture.

  • WEll Dont You have to set it up for WWM

  • @NathanWells but it works! all my vids i made (and my friends) used it

  • @NathanWells i actaully used w.m.m sure it is not that good of a animator but if you use it in the correct way it can make movies just as smooth as yours ! :) all you have to do to do 15 fps in w.m.m is if you have vista go to option and make the picture duration 125th of a second and high light all the picture during import and hit ok and it will upload them then to put them on the time line do the same!

  • @MrAwesomesauce101 I got the latest wmm for Winows 7, it's very good, you can just click on duration and write in 0,07 as I do, but if you want the video to be faster just in some parts you can change duration at just that part, click on the photos you want and go to duration again

  • @NathanWells please I really need help what life cam are you using what program do you use what camera do you use how can you find that movie maker HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP

  • how many pics does it take for someone to cleanly move the lego persons arm from his head to his waist??

    This was a helpful video

  • Well if you want it to be smooth it would take about 10 or 15 frames. =]

  • 15 to 20 fps

  • 15 FPS is the amateur standard, while 30 is more typical of professionals. I will cover Frames Per Second more in a future video.

  • Music from Beast!

    Your advice is great.

  • Good ears! Glad you enjoy it!

  • every one!!!! Animator DV Simple + is very good

  • yeah... I use it

  • yah but a could put my house on fire! lol i was talking to Nathanwells

  • it doesn't work out well with 1200x1600 photo's so i don't use it animore

  • And FREE! (just the "simple +" version)

  • Again, thanks, but I'm getting macbook for Christmas, and I got iStopMotion for it, already, so I won't need those programs that you mentioned. Also, I saw how big your movements are in your films, I take waaaay smaller movements, but my films are bad. Any help? thanks bai.

  • Timing is key, LLF. If you take more or less frames than needed it won't look good. Some movements take less frames and will still look good and smooth.

  • yeah, thanks dude !

  • I agree with Frogtrap. I will cover timing in one of my future videos.

  • I cant download monkey jam. dosent work on apples =( if u know it does plz tell me

  • dude i know i tied it and i don,t think it works but if you want software that doesn,t cost very much try istopmotion

  • thanks dude =)

  • imovie works with stop motion too i tried it.

  • What about iMovie?

  • hay it works you do 0.08 its pretty smooth

  • iMovie is an editing program. I don't think it works as well as an image capture program.

  • i was not talking about making your film with imovie i was saying its an ok editing program

  • If i put the pictures together with monkeyjam, then how can i get it to another program?

  • monkeyjam saves the frames as separate pictures on your computer. You could then close down monkeyjam and drag the pictures onto a different program if you wanted...

  • An easier way is to export the frames as a video file, like an AVI. You can then import that AVI into editing software and edit it.

  • yeah we andestand i can use monkey jam. Bet how to download monkey jam.

  • windows movie maker is what i use too put the frames together. Its good cuz its easy to do and it comes with every windows, compaq, and hp

  • i use monkeyjam but then i put the avi files into wmm to arrange and edit...

  • cool the way i due specialeffects is on pivot3 (a stick animation program) its easy all you need to do is load the pics as background and add you stick figure effect. Its very easy

  • Nice

  • Could you go over timing in your next video? I am having trouble with that. My animation is usually very slow moving at 15 fps.

  • Timing will be covered in one of my future videos, though not the next one. Stay tuned!

  • ;^)

  • I've found that, while possible, incredibly limited. To change the length of all photos, the minimum is 1/4 per second, and to get shorter times than that, you have to manually go through and delete sections of each photo on the storyboard....this is my version of that program at least...

  • WMM2 works well, can go up to 16 FPS

  • No.

    No siree.

    Don't do that.

  • ???

  • Agr33d =)

  • Windows Movie Maker is not the best program. It certainly has major limitations and flaws, but I did use WMM to make Beast.

  • did you save it as 30 fps then? When I save movies in MM I have no option to change the framerate to 15 - it does it for me when I choose a supported codec. :(

  • In order to change the framerate for Movie Maker you must go to:

Tools -> Options --> Advanced --> Change the picture duration to .125 seconds. This will make your pictures import 1/8 of a second long.

  • but if you your animation set at 15 fps as an avi and import it into MM you don't have the option to change the framerate when you export it... :(

  • Nice job! Thanks for the advice!

  • Me too, my animations could be much better. This helps me so much.

  • Nice video that really helps me

  • Thanks for the advice, it's really great to see you doing this stuff Nathan. :)

  • Cool.

  • how do you edit and add sound onto your movie after capturing frames with monkey jam?

  • i have a mac and i use imovie for pc windows movie maker

  • Once the frames are captured in MonkeyJam, export them as a video file, then import the video file into an editing program like Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, Final Cut or Adobe Premiere. Using the editing program you can add sound and edit it.

  • I have a problem, my lighting is fluctuating, I mean it's not balanced. Is the problem my lamp or should I change some settings in my camera?

  • Does the light actually flicker when you look at it directly, or does it only flicker when you view your finished animated footage. If the former, then it's a problem with your lamp or your electrical socket - you may have to buy a new lamp or even call and electrician. If it's the latter, then you should change your camera settings (through the remote capture program) to something like "Manual." This should at least help reduce the flicker.

  • i have not seen it yet but is it a second thing from the other 1 u just made?

  • Yes, this is the second video in a series of videos where I talk about animation stop-motion LEGO films, and give tips and tricks.

  • Do u have to use live feed for monkeyjam? I have a canon powershot A95 by the way.

  • I don't think any Canon Powershots will work with MonkeyJam. To use your Canon Powershot, I think you will have to purchase Stop Motion Pro. Just be sure to download the free trial to test to see if your camera works with it.

  • For Canon cameras, try Haukinger's CSMC free capture program. Works great with my S2 IS. There is a German and an English version of the app. The only downside is that some of the options in the English version are still in German (like the White Balance options), so you learn a little German along the way. (i.e. 'Blitze' means 'flash') Just google "CSMC" and "Canon" and his web-site comes up 1st.

  • Can I also use Monkey Jam on MAC?

    0 0

    (__):)

  • I need a program for mac too, but when I tried Monkey Jam, I think I found it wasn't compatible...

Does anyone else know any decent programs (free or otherwise) FOR MAC?

  • There's a good one called Frame by Frame. If you're willing to splash some cash, get iStopmotion.

  • iStopmotion? Haven't heard of it, but I will definitely look into it!

After working with the crappy programs I have, I'm certainly willing to pay for a decent one now. Thanks :)

  • I really have nothing to add here. I'm pleased with the level of discussion that's happening. I really am not knowledgeable in other stop-motion animation programs beyond Stop Motion Pro and MonkeyJam, but the ones mentioned here are definitely worth looking into.

  • Can you just use Windows Movie Maker?

  • Absolutely, though not to capture your individual frames. WMM is a good starter program for video editing, though it has severely limited options. Beast (still my most popular film on YouTube for some reason) was edited in WMM.

  • 5th and great videos!

  • cool dude but what camera is that on 00:29?

  • That is a Canon Powershot A85 with a macro lens and lens adaptor, the current camera I use to animate.

  • ok cool do you recomend it?

  • SWEET! THANKS!

  • sma for the win!

    thats what we use
