@WeeWyllie pleasant, what the hell is that. This is where the rock musicians from the 60's to now all got their ideas. They were the originators, not the imitators.
@awoosoul: True - as many of the musicians of the 60's are quick to acknowledge, but what has that to say to anything? Most everything builds on what went before.
Overall, there may be/have been better blues players out there and there may be/have been better blues songs as well but Big Joe makes one of the sweetest noises of any performer, anywhere, any time. His (recorded) work with Ransom Knowling was truly superb and, for me, one of the best tunes/songs/renditions of all time, of all genres, was his Folkways recording of King Biscuit Stomp.
If you ain’t got no money you got the Blues, because you’re thinking evil. That’s right. Any time you’re thinking evil, you’re thinking about the Blues.” – Howlin’ Wolf

j'ai découvert cette chanson par le biais d'AC/DC qui en avait fait un cover dans un album.la version originale est franchement géniale.bien meilleure que la version des années 70 qui pourtant était pas mauvaise.
blues and jazz are the parents of everything you can ear today
@mynameismud420 Thats because he's playing live......from the heart, and has not been overdubbed, autotuned and filtered to death. I think you may have come down with a bout of beiber fever, sadly common these days. long live the blues!!!!!!
The recently passed Honeyboy Edwards got his unusual sense of timing from his early days, performing with Big Joe Williams and following his intermittent singing/playing style
We sometimes use the word Blues lightly, " Yeah I play/sing a bit if Blues" etc. But when you hear the real deal like this it makes you realise that we ain't playing shit!
wow this is a mesmerizing performance. i love how much rest/silence there is in his playing and how well he can keep the rhythm anyway. It sounds like hes digging up his feelings from way deep down.
what in the world would drive that mouse towards the dislike button on this...insanity...who are these 5-10 "dislikes" that we always see...i call conspiracy... fantastic upload regardless!
the Lighting Hopkins version I guess it is a six string thing, sounds closer to the "Them" cover which is the cover I always liked Best., with Van Morison's Vocals and As I understand Jimmy Page was in the Studio, but did not play on the recording by "Them" in '64.
you cannot compare these old blues legends to anyone. Guitarist's like lightin' hopkins, john lee hooker, bb king, albert king, robert johnson, etc are like no other. All of them are the best in their own style. Just like those heavy tiluliluplayers are in teir own genre. In blues i think its about personal style of playin' that blues. in many other genres the thing is something else, like who has the fastest figers and stuff..

Man, you can see the pain etched on his face, he is just pouring his heart and soul into this song and in his guitar. This is blues down to the bare bone
@Marfinities yeah, u got a couple exceptions. eric clapton, jack white, jimmy page, brian may. and then you got a lotta prima donnas with a guitar like slash
@dabyd666 ouch dude. They''re all great. Just because you don't like the style doesn't change the fact that Slash is a great guitarist. It would be like saying "freddie mercury sux cuz i dont like rock". He might be overrated today, but if you would only look at his guitarworks, you would be amazed. Believe me, being an experienced guitarist I think I know what I'm talking about
@b0nsc0ttr0ck dude, im also a experienced guitarrist and i think i know what i'm talkin bout. if u saw a concert of slash (which ive saw) or another one of those "best guitar players ever" u're reaction is gonna be "wow, that guy sure plays a lot" for the first song. the secong song u'll think "damn, this is a nice song too". by the third song u'll think "eh, fuck it, every song is the same"
@dabyd666 ok mr 666. I've seen him too, not what I thought. You know, it's classic rock artists like Chuck Berry that has songs that sound the same. And do we say he sucks and is a poser? Nope. AC/DC's songs also sound similar. Guess that's why Back in black sold 50 million copies

@gta4rulzu ofc I know all those songs. Got all the albums ;) No but what I'm trying to say is that that's the way ppl like it. No need to be an idiot just because AC/DC covered this song, I think both are great
@Marfinities Well, you are right. But music is about making you feel good. I like Slash and i agree with you, but that doesn't means that we only have to listen to music played by "School Guitarists".

Hearing it in public! On Stage, On His "Show". (WHEW)!
The word "Bitch" was not used in this reference, during this time!

But the Propensity to use that word that way is just very very recent!

Blues is amazing not only because it's just great music, but because it's so genuine.
