So much for attempting this a second time. I guess she finally got it into her thick head that if she got in trouble again, no one would go and waste thousands of dollars to save her sorry arse for a second time.
Or is it because she's only a yank bitch and just talks out of her arse like any other fucking yank slag? Probably both, actually.
@VazzaPrime Watch yourself. She made a mistake, don't we all? And the fact that you would post such crass words on youtube honestly proves that you are no better than her, if not worse.
@BadgerBoi You have no right to comment on Lawrence Sunderland's parenting skills. Abby was prepared, that is why she made it out alive. It is no different than letting a child drive a car, when you consider Abby's upbringing.
What a selfish brat this girl is. She puts other lives at stake along with cost running into the 6 figure range just to rescue her inexperienced ass out of the ocean. I don't care how it is done but the Aussie Government should go after Abby and her family for each and every penny that they spent, money that could have been used for other things. Americans take oil and peoples lives and now money from all around the world. Hope this is a reality check for attention whores out there.
@7477238 Oh, and the British goverment doesnt hand over a tidy sum of money to The Queen? Please!!!!! A life was at stake!!! Its no time to whine over a few dollors
@Bluesrandy1 Now you're going to compare the Queen to a stuck up narcissist? C'mon. I support following your dreams but do it within reason. $100 grand is not a few dollars, if people could actually save $100 grand it would go a long way trust me.
@7477238 Tell me, what country goes to the rescue whenever there is a natural disaster any place on earth? USA!!! Stop whining about a few bucks and be happy Abby made it alive.
@Bluesrandy1 The US always likes to flex it's military muscle to the world so of course it is expected of them to provide aid to a natural disaster zone. You must be one rich fellow to think 100 grand is Trump change. You simply fail at looking into the real heart of the situation; that being this girl think shes above all the rest when she lacks the experience required to sail the ocean. This was simply to gain media attention and nothing more. Follow your dreams but this is too much.
@7477238 Look, allow me to settle this debate right now. The sunderland family never had issue with paying a rescue bill. It was the choice of the Australian goverment or whatever agency that oversees such issues, to not bill the Sunderlands. Dont be upset with Abby or her parents over a decision made by Australia.
@Bluesrandy1 "The sunderland family never had issue with paying a rescue bill". Can you verify that for me? The Austrailan Gov't only made that decision because it would look bad on them if they pursued the Sunderlands for financial reimbursement. I mean why wouldn't high ranking Politicians do that? So they can set themselves up for re-election come the next term. It's just like the migrant ships that went to Canada, the Gov't accomodates them so they can be re-elected due to support.
Everybody goes to the rescue when there's a natural disaster, the american media is so insular that you just don't hear about it. This disaster of a girl wouldn't have happened if her dim-witted parents did their job in the first place and stopped her from going.
This American princess cost Australian tax payers 100's of THOUSANDS of dollars that could have been used for the people who's wages were taxed for THEIR benefit.
If she's well off enough for mommy and daddy to enable this, tehy, or their country, (US), should compensate the people of Australia.
If you want to take massive risks, (BP?), then you should take on the costs that can result.
Who cares about her age? If she wants sail around the world then do so... BUT...if you get in trouble don't expect everyone to rescue you. Make sure your Daddy pays the fuel costs and lost wages incurred when those people rescued you. Part of being responsible involves paying the price for your bad decisions... Like sailing into a storm...
@str8outtatexas1 I understand from what angle you view the situation, but may I urge you to rather be keen to see in Abby's move a rare determonation we must all encourage in this age, the human will has been affected negatively in this century; and young people and women tend to be discouraged a great deal, Abby's story rather should make it incumbent on the society to re-instate the dying consciousness amongst the population of the efficacy of the human will - the human will is a great asset.

Negative people out there take a break!! I got married at 16 that IMO was far more dangerous than sailing around the world at that age! Life is short if you have a dream and the means to fulfill it Go FOR IT!
I'm so proud of Abby, she is a gift to my generation. This development shows to what extent the American society has encouraged feminism to the point of a 16 year old girl believing in herself in this way; people must stop saying stuffs about Abby's parents, they are the example of what parents should be, in fact parents all over the world should learn to encourage their gifted children to achieve great strides like Abby set out to do. Peace.
The real feminists would spit in your face for coming out with that drivel. They didn't fight for a spoilt rich brat to embark on a stupid adventure - they would applaud her if she got a proper education and a real job.
@BadgerBoi Well, you could not have responded just to insult me. I understand your view, and sure you do deserve the right to express it. Happy New Year, and hope you'd learn something from 16-year-old Abby. Cheers!
Notwithstanding sponsors etc, WHY oh WHY would she try to set a record when she KNEW that if she got into trouble (as she did) that she would put OTHER peoples lives in danger (as she did) trying to rescue her. Seems very selfish to me.
what is up with parents now a days, 1st i seen this 2 years old baby boy smoking 40 cigarettes a day and his dad got him into it at 18 month years old. Now a dad leting his 16 old daughter sail on her own. All i have to say is WOW
It is the responsibilty of parents to keep their children(noticed I said children) safe. This young woman is a child....to equate driving a car to sailing around the world alone is ridiculous. When they are children there are things you must teach them and then there are things you must PROTECT them from. Ever hear of pirates Mr. Sunderland? We make our kids grow up way too fast. Is money at the root of all this??

@knight337 Why should we have compassion for these rich pricks?? You are mentally unstable and in need of a life if you give a damn about these people.
Amazing how some middle-aged couch potatoes and young never-done-anythings are saying that this girl was too young ... St Joan of Arc led troops into battle at age 17. Let people live and accept the consequences on their own terms, not yours
You people need to realize that she is a HUMAN BEING for goodness sakes! How can you live with yourselves? Do you see the things that you are writing??
@SooBeautyFull Yes, and Jesus and Buddha and Krishna and the Holy Spirit. Though your body was eaten by sharks, your beautiful spirit will live forever.
@bottomsup344 How could you be so cold-hearted, to LAUGH about an innocent 15 year old's death? No matter WHAT the reason, she still deserves to live a full and complete life. Everyone does. I couldn't and wouldn't say something so cold-hearted about YOU, even. This girl needs prayers right now. Many people still have hope for her to return, and it should be that way.
Going across the Indian Ocean during storm season in a small sailboat = BAD IDEA. If a person underestimates power and danger of the the ocean, there's a good chance they wil get f'd up.
Try to think now about all the resources that will be wasted trying to bring back one white bitch WHO GOT HERSELF INTO THIS SITUATION ALL ON HER OWN. She undertook this 'adventure' for the sake of her own vanity, so she could brag to everyone about how great she is. I hope the somalis really did get her. I'll laugh if she's dead.
great parenting....most people dont let their kids drive the family car alone but they let their daughter be in a small boat around the world..and now nobody can find her body...they should get an around ,..dumbassses

She was practically in a submarine...this boat wildeyes can almost be called a submarine. What is going on with the sailing community lately...no integrity anymore
She is not doing this unassisted...she is getting ALOT of help. Pretty sure her father flew down to the Cape Horn and helped her with equipment failure on board her boat wildeyes...auto pilot was malfunctioning
No way should this young lady receive a record for sailing around the world UN -ASSISTED. Is she sailing in a boat around the world? yes....but with ALOT OF HELP
Unassisted....ROFL. has anyone actually confirmed her age? People are doing anything to get in record books now days
I was routing for her, but like you I really believe her father went out to meet her when she was 20 miles off Cape Horn. Her brother Zac is the one who is the con artist. I wonder if he told his sponsors that he planned on making over 20 stops along the way during his around the world sail? He stayed at all these exotic locals from one week to one month. All he did was manage to talk a lot of people into financing his very expensive vacation that everyone dreams of.
People shouldn't criticize this expedition because of her age. You need to give 16-yr-olds more credit. She's more knowledgeable and prepared than most sailors in their 20s. Driving a car carries risks too. This is an awesome opportunity, and sometimes, you just have to reach out and seize the moment. If you have a dream and you really believe in it, then it's worth risking everything for.
proud of you. i worked on ships from 1998 until 2009 and i would not try this alone. it is verry verry dangerous out on opean seas. you need a lookout when you sleep. if a ship hits you the ship will never know they hit you neither will they. you really need 2 experienced people. good luck. i wish when i was 16 i knewwhat i wanted to do in life. i am 47 and havent got it all figured out yet.
"its a category zero , so it is a perfect match" like M&D
"I'll have radar thingy n like alarms n stuff if something gets within 6 feet..ill be able to check everything to see if it's a ship or ." qualified!!
"heres belts n stuff...jus a lot f sml things"
"here all sails n stuff....were gonna have alot redone so we have spares n stuff."
dad safety quirt foam depot stuff in tank cptmt ""shipwright "? plus like we paid some dude to hammer botm tighter n case the nails waz unscrewing n stuff
is anyone else sick and tired of these wealthy kids with endless supplies of money (Zac Sunderland got a "gift" of 150,000 from mommy and daddy) doing these things, and then how they make you feel like shit for growing up poor?
at 16 I was struggling to survive. I didn't have rich bourgeoisie parents to help me through my endeavors. because if I had endless stacks of money, I'd already be the youngest person Cape to Cairo.
capitalism blows. only the rich get to live their dreams.
Your poor me I am a victim mentality is why you never did Cairo to Capetown. As for Abby shes not a rich kid - but its pretty obvioous shes not a sailor either and the dream is not hers but her loony celebrity wannabe parents who are pissed off about Mike taking Zacs "Record" and they want it back. She will fail for sure.

I want to know where she gets the money to not only get a boat like that, but also the money to take on such an endeavor.
What does daddy do, and why does he let her do this.

I did it when I was 14 it's not such a big deal. In fact, it would have been more fun if Abby was aboard.

why does white people always want to take dangerous journeys?
wilsonjr81 2 years ago 2
People shouldn't criticize this expedition because of her age. You need to give 16-yr-olds more credit. She's more knowledgeable and prepared than most sailors in their 20s. Driving a car carries risks too. This is an awesome opportunity, and sometimes, you just have to reach out and seize the moment. If you have a dream and you really believe in it, then it's worth risking everything for.

proud of you. i worked on ships from 1998 until 2009 and i would not try this alone. it is verry verry dangerous out on opean seas. you need a lookout when you sleep. if a ship hits you the ship will never know they hit you neither will they. you really need 2 experienced people. good luck. i wish when i was 16 i knewwhat i wanted to do in life. i am 47 and havent got it all figured out yet.

is anyone else sick and tired of these wealthy kids with endless supplies of money (Zac Sunderland got a "gift" of 150,000 from mommy and daddy) doing these things, and then how they make you feel like shit for growing up poor?
at 16 I was struggling to survive. I didn't have rich bourgeoisie parents to help me through my endeavors. because if I had endless stacks of money, I'd already be the youngest person Cape to Cairo.
capitalism blows. only the rich get to live their dreams.
Sreggaematic09 2 years ago 4
Your poor me I am a victim mentality is why you never did Cairo to Capetown. As for Abby shes not a rich kid - but its pretty obvioous shes not a sailor either and the dream is not hers but her loony celebrity wannabe parents who are pissed off about Mike taking Zacs "Record" and they want it back. She will fail for sure.
