...i suggest you read up on the NBA rules, particularly rule 4 and rule 10, on what ends a dribble, and how many counts (steps) you are allowed after you end the dribble.

If his feet would have landed simultaneously on the second step he could have got away with it. It was close, but I could see how the refs call it a travel...In a pick up game, that probably wouldn't be a travel cause dudes use that move all the time.

Honestly it could go either way...the rules should change with the evolution of the game.

First off the game is not sacred. It's basketball. A star driven league. Contrary to what you want to believe some players are above the game whether you like it or not. If lebron has a controversial move, why shouldn't they change it? Rules to a game are arbitrary. I said rules should change with the evolution of the game, meaning if enough people do it. The NBA should consider it.

How do you take half a step? If you have your foot in the air and then it touches the ground isnt that a step? Does he stop his foot in mid air or something? I dont think the NBA rules say anything about a small step. Even if his foot goes 1 inch its still considered 1 step, but if u can prove me wrong then by all means go for it.

If ball didn't complete its turn (down-up movement) when he just steps, its a 0.5 step. You can see that when ball came back to lebrons hand, he's still able to drible, but he decides sth else (doesn't matter).. He starts his pointing move (2 steps and shot) when he catch the ball with his both hands, he did that after 1st step. Being able to choose between dribbeling or making 2 more steps is enough to prove that its not traveling.

If I still can't satisfy you, I suggest you to read rule book.

the actual hesitation move is a great move to beat your man. Butler had no chance there and it was perfectly legal. He traveled on the hop step, I dont really know why he's talking about the crab dribble referring to the travel call. If he took his last dribble while jumping off his right foot for the hop step it would have been legal too.
