  • Wow! What a voice this man has. My absolute favorite by him.

  • Does anyone reconize any of the the younger fans ...now older

  • i love this song i listen to it everyday

  • my father took photographs of him when he appeared in new orleans at the pontchartrain beach amusement park in the 60s. there were other new singers such as fabian also appearing. my father is deceased and i have been a professional photographer since 1965. i am putting together a book of my dads photographs( over 2000] to publish....

  • fantastic

  • not only a great singer but he was one of the first to write his own songs. great to hear him again.

  • This Is definitely The Chantones backing Jack. The group backed Jack on all his hits.

  • something came over 9 people

  • Jack and his wife are good friends of my wife and I. They are terrific people. If you know Jack and see him ask about Dicks cat, It will bring on a big laugh.

  • You have just listened to one of the Greatest God given voices ever. Jack was, and still is, one of the true Kings of Rock n Roll. and Best of the Best with his golden voice. I've known Jack for many years, and can honestly say that you will never find a nicer guy and friend than Jack. Also jack is still performing and still sounds the same. Thanks, Jack, for all your Great Great Songs.

  • if it were today he would sing " what in the world has happened to my world"

  • I was 14 when Jack was in his hey day. I so loved his music. He could have sung the yellow pages and I was so smitten I'm sure I'd have bought the record. LOL.

Love it just as much today. Thanks for posting.

  • Jacks voice is so damn cool---and yes those IFIC buttons the girls wear is about the gum they chew.

  • Great music in those days!

  • glad to hear hes still kickin

    good song

  • Love that candid shot of the young lady in the front row who seems totally enthralled with Jack in the puppy love kind of way of that era.......I loved those times myself.

  • Love his voice, love the song ....what an awesome Canadian artist!

  • Whoa, Jack............he had them rubbin their knees together. Guys just sittin there feelin their ears turn red. He sorta had that Warren Beatty appeal, huh?

  • I used to be friends with one of Jack's nephews back in high school. I'll never forget being invited to one of his family get togethers where Jack was present. He sang a few songs, and seemed like a cool guy. I was absolutely blown away by the fact that one of my best friends had a rock star uncle.

  • grear voice. need more artist like this.

  • I love this song but, what are all the kids chewing gum for? It does add the feeling of the late 50'2 early 60's though!

  • @desert3347 Girls always chewed gum then.......Juicy fruit, Blackjack, Beeman's, but Dentyne was thee gum!

  • @bindinglines I chew gum too and this is 2011.

  • Scotty McCreary hopefully is stepping in his footsteps

  • gosh i think i still have this on a 45 bout wore it out, so nice to hear again and see him sing it , thanx for post

  • why don't those dingbats on the radio every play hiis songs! he belongs "up there with the greats" wonderful Jack.! love your music!

  • One of my all time favourites that i haven't heard for years but remained somewhere in my head.So good to hear it again and also get to know something about the singer.

  • JACK SCOTT ALMOST SINGLE-HANDEDLY KEPT ROCK / ROLL TOGETHER DURING THE ALMOST 3 1/2YRS THAT HE HAD 19 OF THE GREATEST HITS THAT HAVE EVER BEEN RECORDED. DURING THAT TIME, ELVIS GOT DRAFTED(2YRS) AND IT WAS NOT CERTAIN WHEN HE GOT OUT IF HE COULD STILL SELL THE WAY HE DID BEFORE, LITTLE RICHARD WENT TO SEMINARY SCHOOL, JERRY LEE, CHUCK AND ALLEN FREED GOT IN BIG TROUBLE WITH THE LAW AND ROCK/ROLL COULD HAVE DIED IF NOT FOR JACK. IT'S INEXCUSABLE THAT HE'S NOT IN THE ROCK / ROLL HALL OF FAME.

  • @ELVIS4221 Lose the CAPS buddy.

  • love it, love it, love it!!!!!

  • I still have 45 rpm of "My True Love", purchased in 1958, and "Leroy", stored down in the crawl space of my basement. Ken, Toronto

  • He's On Bandstand Here But What Was This Song Catagorized As!

Pop, Country or What. Always Loved It.

  • FYI: It's The Chantones, not The Jordanaires.

  • Off and on throughout my life , this great voice has echoed from the canyons of my memory and it is good to hear the real song once more. Thank you for posting this wonderful artist with such a commanding voice.

  • @brucer12

Having the Jordanaires backing you up on a recording pretty much guaranteed a hit for anyone! I haven't 'googled' them yet, but most have probably passed on by now...

  • Jack had the Jordanaires backing him up on his sessions didn't he?

  • @elihew ---That sure sounds like the distinctive sound of the Jordanaires--Jack Scott is so cool!!

  • thats good hey

  • boy did people dress nice then

  • I'm 30 years old and just in love with this song!! Amazing!!

  • Jack is still a terrific singer, a true legend. I'd love to hear Josh Turner sing "What in the worlds come over you!"

  • I've always like it and still here it is 2011, and I haven't forgot it

  • Now this is a very valuable video, thx 4 sharing & plez keep it posted, I'd like to tune it in most often... I 've always enjoyed Jack's singing, it must be the background vocalists, the music & his voice cause it certainly isn't the lyrics. Anyway I can see why the gals are cheering him on....he's not Elvis, he's better!!!

  • I AM FROM COL OHIO AND I LOVE JACK SCOTT ALWAYS HAVE .SEEN HIM PLAY ISN A CLUB IN MICH ALMOST 30 YRS AGO.MY BAND PLAYED THE WEEK AFTER HIM.AND I ALMOST GOT SHOT FOR NOT SINGING COAL MINERS DAUGHTER FOR THE 5TH TIME THAT NIGHT.THAT WAS CRAZYYY.But he will always be my FAV,AND HE DIDN'T GET THE RECOGNITION HE SHOULD HAVE.I STILL HAVE SOME OF HIS 45'S

  • I expect most of that chewing gum ended up on the floor..

  • What a Balladeer !!

  • hi

  • I loved it in 1960 and I still love it in 2011.

  • From early 1960 - the great Giovanni Scaffone ("Jack Scott') - a little older than his contemporaries (born 1936) and one of the very few to write a good deal of his own material. The responses from the kids in this video keeps is what keeps bringing me back - the first girl who can barely contain herself and is on the verge of hyperventilating, the 2nd girl who's checkin' out "the goods", to the general disinterest of the boys and their "I-don't-get-it-what's-all-the-excitement?" looks!

  • 8 people dont know good music when they hear it

  • The boys look less than impressed ,but the girls look happy . I cannot believe no-one in the audience has made a comment , come on, surely they can"t all be dead or in care homes ? .

  • He was among the greatest 50s singer/songwriters and his music will last forever. His music made high school dances magic.

  • Yes, I love this song, great to dance to at the high school gym. But how about that bass line. I couldn't sing much so I always got to do the bass lines and this one was a lot of fun.

  • Yes, I love this song, great to dance to at the high school gym. But how about that bass line. I couldn't sing much so I always got to do the bass lines and this one was a lot of fun.

  • does anyone know who the first girl that is in the clip is ?

  • Priceless!

  • Jack Scott is right up there with Orbison, Elvis & Johnny Horton

  • what in the worlds come over you.......once a month every month.YOWZA!

  • Yes he was born in Windsor where Ilived now I live outside Detroit and so does Jack Scott I see him alot he goes to the same music store I do He lives in Sterling Heights Michigan. He is truly a great talent and has a great voice and is a super guy.

  • My mom bought some recordings of Dick Clark's American Bandstand from Time Life but I don't know what she paid for them. They are terrific of course. I love this one here with Dick introducing Jack. He is a terrific singer, a great voice. I would think that everyone lip synced on the show through the years. A band would be not only expensive but also have too many artists to back up with their own music. Look how nicely everyone is dressed. I would have been screaming too if I was there. - Paula

  • @twinPaula12 The only person on the show that did not lip synced on the show was Jerry Lee Lewis.

  • I wonder if hes still around?

  • Great song and I remember the original but a woman had a hit with it too, not sure if it was Skeeter Davis, Brenda Lee, Vicki Carr or Connie Francis lol Patsy Cline?

  • Great site and videos Cheers

  • Is he lip syncing? I agree Jack never got the recognition he deserved, but he could never decide if he was a rocker or a kicker.

  • glad to see him still around.

  • whats with the video freezing ?

  • the audience shots are priceless. Twas a very very long time ago.

  • His real name is Giovanni Dominico Scafone and he was born in Windsor, Canada

    (1936).

  • Thanks for the vid-it's been a long time but it's still golden.

  • great!

  • i read about this song in stehpen king's book called "the body" so i found this and fell in love with that song <3

  • Jack must be going nuts that this is on you tube!!!!!!!!!!! He does not like his stuff out in public!!!!!

  • 50's music at it's best, loved it then and still do....

  • here is a true legend! when I was growing up jack scott music was second only to elvis in terms of hits and chart domination. if he's not in the rock'n roll hall of fame already it's a major oversight that needs correcting.

  • OLDIES CONCERT $37 at Lowell Memorial Auditorium (Lowell, MA) Saturday October 10, 2010 - Bobby Vee, Freddie Cannon, Jack Scott, The Chiffons, The Bobbettes! Tickets: (978) 454-2299.

  • @JussRaggins Awesome. is this a tour?

  • One more great song by Jack Scott

  • Jack Scott....Still Flavor-iffic

  • One of my all time favourites!!

    A classic.

  • En favorit se´n slutet av 60-talet. Hade den på Single. Var min kompis Carins favorit.

    Hon dog i cancer.

  • Didn't know this was our life . He was my friend.

  • Like morsomt som å høre denne sangen igjen, er det å se publikum.Tyggis, permanent for damene og Brylkrem for gutta..herlig...herlig

  • anyone know the backup singers

  • @pcolin69 I dont know who they are but their terrific are'nt they!

  • the "chill-bumps" are crawlin' like when i bought this in Nems record shop--1960

  • my mom used to live two doors down from his place near detroit and watch him reherse. she talked about it all the time.

  • Thank you for posting :) Wen

  • Great job and great singer and at 74 still out there performing. He and good friend of

  • Brilliant to see this. One of my all-time favourites.

  • Thank You ...

  • Hard to believe he is 74 years old now...Thanks jack for all the good songs

  • I have always loved this song. Nice to see him singing it again. Thank you so much for sharing... :)

  • Great, one of my all time favourites....

  • Isn't this the man who left the music business at the height of his popularity to take care of his ailing wife? I think that's wonderful. This man had his priorties straight !

  • Thank you God for giving us people like Jack Scott.

  • superb version of a great song--it would sound better without the "screaming"--Dan

  • This was a favorite of a friend who died of cancer.

  • Two questions .....what brand of chewing gum was the flavour of the month way back then?

And judging by the crowd - who were the screamers?

Love this classic. Thank you for sharing.

  • Living in a small Canadian province of Nova Scotia we didn't get to see these greats. It is so wonderful to watch this on YouTube. I am 66. My kids and grandkids love my music.

  • Always loved this song...'awesome!

  • I grew up in the Detroit area and Jack Scott performed a 8 mile and Grosbeck Hwy and He was the Headliner there for a long time

  • This song was 50 years ago no.8 in the world charts

  • This song was 50 years ago no.8 in the world charts

  • This song was 50 years ago no.6 in the world charts

  • My sisters used to play this all the time.

Good to hear it again. Up until now I couldn't tell you who sang it. Brings back memories of the 50's....

  • This song was 50 years ago no.5 in the world charts

  • GIve me a $ for every time I heard a DJ say "Great Scott, its Jack Scott" before playing this song... I'll take you all to dinner!

Jack's deep voice on this and My True Love really fascinated us when it was a hit. Many rock singing groups had a deep bass singer (remember Little Darlin' by the Diamonds?), but Jack Scott was the real thing in a lead singer!

  • @danje10

    Ha ha !!!!

  • @danje10

And also Geez what a voice. I grew up my parents Jack. Dino, Eddie Arnold and Bobby Vinton. Also the Chairman of the Board. Thanks.

  • I grew up on this, and I loved this song then, I still likethis song, Alittle ELVIS sound alike there huh??

  • This song was 50 years ago no.6 in the world charts

  • i'm 55 and never heard of this guy.why is that.

  • you're not old enough :o)

  • you're not old enough :o)

  • modern music sucks

  • I,ve just been told he's at the weekender at Pontins in Sussex but please don't take my word for it!

  • This song was 50 years ago no.8 in the world charts

  • hes in u.k this year !! yeehaw !! xx

  • This song was 50 years ago no.8 in the world charts

  • Once i asked what he did in late 60's & 70's, he said: "I rode my motorcycle & played pool with my friends..." Kool.

  • i LOVE this song thank you so very much for posting it! : D

  • Talent song writer and a popular crooner.

  • Jack Scott never quite got the recognition

he deserved in my opinion. This was a hit

in early 1960, so 50 years ago. HOPEFULLY most of the "kids" in the audience are still with us! Dick Clark is still rockin' New Years Eve...though just barely.

  • the 1950s was the best and JACK SCOTT was the best when it came to the ballads. Especially this track. Wish we could turn the clock back, we didnt know then it would continue for another 50 years long may rock'n'roll live.

    Gwen Hale

  • Giovanni Domenico Scafone, aka Jack Scott. I wonder if he would have made it with his Baptismal name, I doubt it. But I would have bought his records even if he didn't get a simple stage name.

  • hey, akytilop, i'm surprised you know his real name. i did too, but not many people do. guess you're a real doo wop fan like me. i'm 63 yrs. young. keep the oldies coming!!!!!!

  • Love this song - love the clip but can you pick the screamers in the crowd?

    Thanks for sharing.

  • i think that guy was simply gazing at a pretty girl....he has got that body language and look probably my favorite jack scott song

  • Wonder if the girls that the camera panned are still alive. They'd have to be sixty-somethings today. THE one guy they pan has an expression of "What the heck am I doing here?"

  • haha i saw two guys but i agree they dont seem quite as enthusiastic as the girls. =P

  • he looks like a regular j.d.

  • One of the most perfect records ever made by one of rock and roll's absolute masters. The only thing I would ever change is to add those same mind boggling vocal harmonies to the second time he runs through the "all my life I've loved you so" part. No matter. It's still an absolute masterpiece!

  • Incredible voice! Supurb song.

  • Comment removed

  • It is soupurb, isn't it?

    Thank you.

    Jennie.

  • As we used to say in Glasgow in the sixties " when music was music, men were men and women were glad of it". keep looking and listening and enjoying real music.

  • Hi

Many souvenirs - Many thanks for this TERRIFIC version LIVE

    Daniel

  • "What in the worlds come over you" sticks in my head. I'll be singing this song for the rest of the month. What a great hook, song, singer. Memories are made of this!

  • It was for Spearmint gum..terr IFIC

  • OMG what a song and what memories!!

  • This is the kind of music you can spoon to. Love Love

  • Would someone upload a song by Jack Scott called "Leroy". I don't have it. I thinks it might be the flip-side of "My True Love" or "What in the World's Come Over You".

    Thanks

  • Jack Scott is playing at the Vintage house in Fraser MI on Sept 25, 2009. Call Fraser police 586-293-1425 for tickits. Its a fund raiser for the Fraser police.

  • 1960...what a great year

  • Any Bandstand fans know what the "IFIC" buttons the kids wear mean??? Jack Scott was so cool.

  • flavorific... that was Beechnut Spearment gum

  • I agree Jack Scott is a rock legend but he is a Canadian from Windsor, Ontario across the river from Detroitm Mi.

  • just a note, so am i from Windsor, originally cg.

  • This song is begging for a modern remake anyone up to the challenge

  • I guess we all had our drive in burger joints where we hung out on Friday and Saturday nights.

  • .....awesome!!!!!

  • Last time I checked they had both......

  • Why can' I -tunes offer this ORIGINAL RECORDING instead of his later and very poorly done re-recordings?

  • I saw Jack Scott about six years ago still sings great, and this song is one of my favorites.

  • I was the same age as those kids back then, and I reacted just like them. Awstruck at this amazing voice. Wonderful song bringing back memories from my childhood, now a grandfather and on SS. Time marches on.

  • I remember him well - Sounds somewhat like Sonny James

  • excellent song -lovely video mcrenshaw !!

  • This is real music!

  • Jack Scott - Truely one of the greatest singers ever to record. Even today he still tours and has that God given voice of his. Thanks Jack for the memories.

  • look at the lads faces at 1.59-2.04-lol bless em !!

  • Yes they look a little bored.

  • mmm could it have been the adulation show to Jack by the girls-a little bit of the green eyed monster ? lol !!

  • that first girl that was shown was oh so so pretty

  • Thank you so much for posting. This is one of my favourite songs.

  • I love this song! This is when music was at it's best! I wish I was around then! =)

  • Last week I nominated Jack for recognition on The Canadian Walk of Fame...I need support from all his fans.

  • a great italian singer

  • veryyyyyy goooooood

  • I grew up with my uncle's 45s and still love this song!
