  • How beautiful and effective is the contrast between the hushed, second last 'ah, vien" and the soaring rapture of the final one.

  • Wow, a very early performance, thanks for posting!

  • He does not take a back seat here to any lyric tenor IMO !

  • After 1940 it was a darker sound then this very lyric voice he had in the 30's. This is so well sung besides the sound .

  • @VINYLTOVIDEO SOUNDS MUCH MORE LIKE 1935 THEN 33 AND THAT MEANS HE WAS 31 AND HERE THE SOUND IS BETTER THEN MOST OF HIS EARLY RECORDINGS ON RADIO. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL VOICE HE HAD. IT HAD IT ALL, RICH COLOR, NEVER WHITE AND NOT NASAL IN HOUSE, IN FACT EVEN IF IT DID SOUND OCCASIONALLY NASAL ON RECORDINGS LIVE HE NEVER DID SOUND NASAL, TO ME ANYHOW. SOME VOICES RECORD NOT AS WELL AS THEY SOUND IN HOUSE. MDM BEING THE ONE WHO WAS THE MOST DIFFERENT LIVE FROM RECORDING. I KNOW, HEARD HIM IN HOUSE.
