@MafiasCreation But the problem with that claim is that they where not completly opposite from other gorups around there area and as allways cultures influrnce each others etc. Many taboos have there roots in survival how ever they tend to become fossilized and have a longer life span than there purpose. Also if the Isralites wanted to be diffrent from Egyptians why ban pork? Egyptians also hade a food taboo against pigs as well. Taboo means what is not culturaly accepted :)
Well in Mesopotamia there taboo against shaving because for ane examples Sumerians saw pride in there beards and hair overall.
A growing taboo against homosexuality did not only occur among the Hebrews(jews). But also in other nearby areas more or less during a time of warefare and bad economic times to put a high population preassure on procreation of babies. Where of course gay sex would not make people often new daughters to be mothers or male new soldiers .
