God bless Thos. More!!! He is a model for us today..not to give in to the secular tidal wave that is engulfing western society. Do you really think God wants homosexual/ lesbian bishops? Sin was the problem with Henry viii (divorce, adultery etc) murder became the result. His third wife did NOT agree with his "religion" and stayed a Catholic until her pre-mature death. (it is said that Henry loved her more than any of 'em) Sin of divorce, executions of 2 wives..then he died of syphlis. How proud
Northam is 1 of my fave actors & his More is great.
I always thought More is the only man Henry truly respected in his whole life. To be honest, I also thought Henry had a gay crush into More or something similar (unrequited, under the sexual profile, even if More cared about H.). It's not a secret in reality H. was a bad lover with women & often played sodomy instead of missionary & never cared about men around his wifes until he decided to kill them for poltitical reasons. I guess he was Bi
as the series went on i just hated henry more and more with every fiber in my being. he sent friends that supported him to their deaths despite how much they had to put up from him in their years of service. first it was wolsey and than thomas more. i just got extremely pissed when two of my big favs got killed off early in the show. i didn't care for anybody else, most of all the boleyns and henry. loathed them the most.
is thomas more a saint or he just the blessed thomas more i know the church gave him a title both the catholic church and the church of england gave him holy titles in the 20th century.
umm... cool down, it's a good song. I know you're probably one of those snobs who thinks people who listen to rnb are stupid, but that's your problem not ours. I love this song, and I'm probably better versed in Tudor history than you are! I also happen to like classical music as well, don't be such a music snob, broaden your stuck up nosed horizons. Eclectic tastes are a good thing!!
No, the act of Supremacy didn't save the world, not even England. And Rome did not have so much control, that's ridiculous. Rome needed the Kings and the Kings needed Rome. The power play was more subtle than we think.
AndThomas More executed William Tyndale for translating the Bible from Latin to English so common people could understand it. He wanted the clergy to have more power and if common people could understand the Bible they would not need the educated clergy to tell them what it meant.
He was a very moral man but what he wanted was terrible. The act of Supremacy saved the world in many ways. Rome had control over every king, every country. That was wrong. The Church had already abused that power with the crusades, and with the inquisition. Their power needed to be checked.
I am not going to discuss if the act was good or bad. That´s like discussing if the Reformation was good or bad and that depends on where one stands. I think that the problem with the act was the fact that the King made people took it. Even they didnt want it.
And Jeremy Northam did a great job. This series have many innacurate facts, but this Thomas More is much more real than for example the one portrayed in a "Man for all seasons". Even though, this is a great film, Thomas wasn´t exactly what is in the film
I know that most of people like H.the VIII especially because he´s J.Rhys Meyers and therefore very handsome, but as I study his character I think that he was nothing but a spoiled and arrogant man that change the History for a very wrong reason-
@Tillyvalle Wasn't St. Augustine's motto "God, give me chasyity and constance, but do not give it yet?" and wasn't he one of the most sexual perverse Romans of his time? Explains why More and the king got along so well.
May he rest in peace, he died for what he believed in. A great tribute and video 5 *****S. Henry was a tyrant to all except himself he should be named bloody henry not his daughter (unfairly)!.
The relationship between himself and Thomas more gave a more human side to Henry and I thought it was done very well by both actors. I didn't know who Thomas More was either before I saw this now besides Scotland's patron Andrew he is my favourite saint aswell. Also Henry was very quick to blame Anne for More's death rather than himself, that's kings for you.
Very good video. For me the serie has totally end, I'd miss Thomas More and his family too much, he was the character for 1st,2cd and 3r season absolutly. Very well who cares that piece of crap of henry 'eight,I was burn him the 1st season! what a phyco-bastard ruled England! the only good thing he did was to leave a daughter like Elizabeth to clean her own father's conscience, what a family, what a court!lol
I also loved Francis I as character! he is sooo enjoyable and handsome too lol
This a beautiful tribute. Thanks for making this! I almost got a bit teary-eyed. You captured both the dark and light side of that amazing man of integrity. Well done!
Because Henry wanted Thomas' approval in everything. Even if they disagreed, Henry wanted to know that Thomas will be there for and with him. No matter what.
It is beautiful video. The song is suitable for the relationship of Thomas and king Henry. It is said that Thomas More was a conscience of Henry. And when the conscience smites it has to be removed. I love Thomas More he was the best and most kindly man in the history.
I think Thomas had huge mistakes as ALL of the people in TUDORS HISTORY, like anne boleyn kahterine of aragon and all of those, I think I like thomas because he represent that we humans have huge mistakes but with the power to repent.
I think thomas repented for being horrible to protestants and I think that thomas as all of the tudors character is so interesting, and so complex.
this man does deserve this admiration.
henry I think didn't want conscience only power regardless of how.
oh I totally agree with you, I think thomas is somebody to respect I just pointed out his mistakes, cuz people only point out his and not from the others like catholics and protestants.
thomas I admire a lot, and I agree henry killed and so he killed his conscience, one of the reason why I think Henry loved no one, to do that to his best friend is to kill a part of you
For all we know, the only death or definite happening that ever really mattered to Henry was More's death, everyone else was a come-go statement for him. It's a pity actually, for Henry, he got what he wanted but in the end nothing really mattered for him and he died sad and fat.
It´s wrong to see Thomas as a saint. He wasn´t one. He was flawed, imperfect,, he made things that contradict his condition as a humanist, he wasn´t as naive as he wanted people to think. He was complex and contradictory. But it´s wrong to judge a man that lived a 500 years ago by the cannons of nowdays. I often call him a hero with a dark side, the man for all seasons with an obscure side. Above all, he was
Above all, he was an honourable, honest, and integrate man in a corrupt Court. As John Guy, the historian said: "When the chips were down, he remained a conscientious objector and stayed an honest man."

Yes I agree with you but I think that their frienship if their circumstances was be differents she could love him and he could love her like a lovers not like brother and sister sorry for my grammar´s mistakes (I´m from spain)
Catherine died in the 7th episode. I ended up screaming and crying when she took her last breath. Henry read her last letter to her and when he finished reading it, he held it to his heart. That gave me a hint that he still loved her.
I saw that episode as well, I was crying so hard on that one. I was crying when Catherine had that dream, where she was reunited with Mary, and then the scene where Catherine finally takes her last breath. As far as Henry goes I think your right, he still loved Catherine, but he had a funny way of showing it. Plus that episode made me hate Anne even more, especially that part where after she found out that Catherine was dead, she started to smile.
Anne was not a witch. She saved many lives from being burnt at the stake and helped the Reformation. You can like both Catherine an dANne, you don't have to pick sides.
If you read my comment, I said that she was a witch because she smiled when she heard Katherine died. Anyways, that comment is year old, I've grown to like Anne, in fact I like all his wives.
I know that the Tudors is fiction. I was not going history! Anne on the show is a witch for smiling when Katherine died! And I do know the difference between facts and fiction, thank you very much!
I ended up crying the entire night and I had a very strange dream, which I will not describe here. Anne is a total witch, and my heart aches for Mary at this very moment. And I am going to kill the person who casted Elizabeth! The girl had BLONDE hair, Elizabeth had RED hair! I mean, what is wrong with them?
Lol, Isomeone also conveniently forgot that Henry too had red hair, not to mention that he was very fat! Btw, I here there's going to be a season 3! Anyone know when it's set to start filming?
Actually Elizabeth had blondish red hair which was very light and fair red. If you find her coronation portrait you will see this. It is much later that her hair turns darker, and most of this is from the wigs she wore.
You're welcome :) Thomas More seems to get a little overlooked and as he played such a big part in Henry's reign I thought it only fitting to do a vid on him, plus Jeremy Northam played the part so well! I'm going to miss him.
Thumbs up if you came here to get inspiration to fight HHS.

King Henry was sorrow after he send his friend to death.
He simply change More's setence to decapitacion in public.
Henry felt a huge hole in his heart and huge hole in his conscence.
Unbelivable, he send Sir Thomas More, Anne Boleyn, Katherine Howard and more.
In the Tudors, season 4, he reffers to Cronwell as his most faithfull servant.

Thank you so very much. Appreciate this video because it is so well done and Jeremy Northam is my favorite actor.

You're welcome :) Thomas More seems to get a little overlooked and as he played such a big part in Henry's reign I thought it only fitting to do a vid on him, plus Jeremy Northam played the part so well! I'm going to miss him.
