@chimayai : I think it was about the same size, but as the place where it happened in Enschede was way more dense populated, the effects it had were much bigger: Judging by images is hard, as there are only 2 'good' (as in, how far you can judge something like this as 'good') of Enschede, which was during daytime, and there are more videos of Denmark, and that was also at night-time.

you should see the "Enschede fireworks disaster" from 13 may 2000 (do a search for that in speechmarks). aftermath footage showing damage is as bad as a nuke. the blast in some footage is like a nuke - right down to shockwaves knockin cameramen for 6! 23 or 24 died in that (incl 4 firemen) and almost 950 injured.

I remember it, it looked almost like a controlled nuclear explosion when the container blew up half of the storage, some parts of it ended up in the middle of the City of Kolding, which is pretty far from the explosion...

My condolences to Max family, the fireman who died in the beginning when they were called to the ground to turn off the small container who lit up the rest of the buildings. His colleagues had to leave him behind knowing he was dead when they ran for cover. Outmost respect to those who saves lives and prevent disasters as well as they can!

How many of these "spectaculair videos" have to be made, before the regulations on storing explosive materials becomes sharpened.

It's the 2nd time in 5 years that a living area is completely flattened out by a fireworks explosion (Holland- Enschede in May 2000 beïng the first).

Both events became so disasterous because the explosives where stored too close to residential areas.

You don't have to be a pyrotechnician to figure out that's just asking for trouble.

Actually: People did ignite as much fireworks as always during the following new years eve, there were no reason not to. Controlled fireworks isn't dangerous, only hundreds of tons of it exploding in one factory/storage facility at the same time is. :) Ofcourse we'll never forget it, but life goes on. =)
