i've been skeptical of their live shows since i saw them on snl and colbert report a few weeks ago.

it could have been the song they were playing (dancing choose) but they sounded terrible

I think it was just the mix used during the live performance. Dancing Choose on the album is brilliantly done, but the horns were way too loud live. The song has a myriad of subtle moments that got drowned out by a massive brass section. Bad decision with the horns.
