  • I play this on the flute in my band class. This song is very odd. It sounds like the clown is all happy at first but then gets run over by a semi truck.

  • I play Oboe and the oboes never get reconized. We do as most of/more than a lot of the other insterments.

  • i played this in the honnor high school band in az in january

    .

  • i remember playing this in 7nth grade XD aww those were the days. Now im first chair playing Mother Earth as a sophmore...all grown up lol

  • I'm the only xylophone player! Yeah!

  • playing this on tuba in our highschool concert band right now, loving it

  • I play the French horn, and, I don't know if we're doing anything with this song... But I know that we are learing it! And because I'm going with the highschool band to contest, I'm also learning "By Loch and Mountain" which is an amazing song!

  • Oh, wow...I played this at a sumer band camp about six years ago...brings back memories...

  • EUPHONUIM!

  • i play percussion in my band

  • such a great song............ bom bom bom bom bom bom bom bom!! (hard to express musical ideas on comments like this)

    :P

  • Someday, the time will come that people will realize that, without percussion, there would simply be no music.

  • This is one of my concert songs that we are playing at festival. I play trumpet. I like the part at "G" if anyone knows what Im taking about.

  • @mcdonaldslovesme OMG! I know what you are talking about! Sorry, that just got me all excited when I knew what you ment! I love that part too, but it's the hardest part for me.

  • I never care too much how easy or hard a song is, unless I can't play it. If it sounds good, I'll usually have a great time playing it.

  • Percussion!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh yeah! My middle school concert band is playing this! I'm in seventh grade so I'm not supposed to be in concert band, but I "Acceled" apparently. I'm 1st horn.

  • This is one of my concert songs! :D I'm a Trombone~ <3

  • I'm a tuba and even though this is extremely easy its still a fun piece

  • Lol i cant believe we playedbthis -_________- way too easy for high school

  • @blehk620 Just because its below your level, doesn't mean you shouldn't play it! A good director tries to give a balance of music. A few "grade level" pieces (for high school it is 3-5 level pieces), a couple of abouve your grade level to challenge you, and a few below your grade level to give you a break.

  • Our band just started learning this song this week, The clarinet part is so fun to play!

  • Alto Sax(: I miss this song ): We played it last year and are band owned it :D Now we joined with this other band that sucks and got a new director we have a concert on Thurs and were gonna fail o_e

  • Alto Sax FOREVA

  • I love playing the flute part at 0:15! And I just got the sheet music today and I'm already in love with this song :)

  • Ok... My band played this last year for UIL and if Mr.Randolph let's us play it again... I will have a freak attack like no joke... because one of our 8th grade bari and tenor sax's plays this all the time and it's annoying!!!

  • wow dude below my comment

    u take ur music seriously

    no joke

  • People, this is like quarter note equals 163 or something. Ticheli states about 160. The song is a about, say, a clown entertaining the court. He can't very well do that at 200 or something. Idiots. Don't you all know anything about the stylistic side of music...

  • with our band i think we are going faster than 160 bpm

  • @tromboneslide7

What school do you go to? I think I know you.

  • @FireypepperCP

well se but i take band @ central jr high school ep

  • love this song but too mant rests 4 trombone part

  • PERCUSSION 'nuf said

  • when i was in 7th grade, i played this song, and we went much faster. i was also given all of the flute parts. I am a oboe player, we ROCK!!!

  • @1crazyboo I meant to vote up for this I'm sorry lol

  • great..but why so slow??

  • wow. we play WAAAY too fast. XP

  • ya'll know just as well as I do that at 2:20 the trombone part rocks your socks!!!

  • @brendanthesavage

  • Frank Ticheli is so amazing. His music makes hours of homework bearable!

  • I remember playing this in my first concert of 7th grade :D

  • @nrnaruto well then why the eff would u listen to this song? why don't u go listen to "by loch and mountain" if it's sooo much better?? -__-

  • Greatest grade 1 piece ever written.

  • The flutes were flat.

  • @okaminess Those damn professionals. Always out of tune... :-P

  • I played second trumpet and kept getting lost I think around measure h. Idk why. Lol. We actually just performed this piece Thursday night at out concert. :)

  • Our teacher makes us play this at 200-250 tempo instead of 130

  • playing this song at a faster speed is so fun

  • i played for bari sax and the ending part (i think measure j) is epic for the lower winds

  • @rickyia911 im a clarinet and saxophone player, but i am fond of the bari. its like the big daddy of all saxes. but u never c a soprano sax in bands much....... im still with the bari's

  • @WatergirlK14 not much concert band music is made for soprano but i just dont play bari i play bassoon and tenor sax becuase i play for two bands in my school so i played music and btw play an instrument ur band doesent use so u can stand out :)

  • @rickyia911 ik i need 2 switch again

  • I remember playing this last year! It reminds me of music in The Sims :)

  • i loved playing this song in middle school we got a one that year at festival XD it must be all that saxy saxophone ;D

  • wayyyy slower than when my school band played it and we're a middle school band who plays fast and college songs.

  • @WatergirlK14 Its not even a college song its only a grade 2 ...

  • @inzaterzen1 ik but this song needs speeding up big time!

  • @WatergirlK14 Yeh but fast isnt what makes the music

  • @inzaterzen1 but it changes the way the music paints in someone's head as the image apears.

  • Okay, yeah. i'm sorry. but i have to say, Clarinets are the best in this. they sound so freaking cool. but, i hate flutes. sorry. not to be mean. xD

  • @JaymieCutie I like flutes, even though i dont play one, and CLARINETS R SOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!! I like it how u can actually HEAR them. I play a lot of instruments- Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Guitar, and Trombone.

  • yay bassoon!

  • WOOHHH TROMBONE PART!!

  • i played this last year in 8th grade, and i love it. flute, FTW. (;

  • Hasdbsshs

  • Eh, it's not the best song I've heard, but it's CERTAINLY not the worst.

  • i play this at my school and i say we sound awesome yea i play this on guitar XD i feel awesomer

  • This shows how great of a composer Frank Ticheli is. As a high school band member, I can listen to his easier pieces, and still love them.

  • sounds better faster

  • @kwang21093 that's what she said. (: lol

  • I played this in middle school honor band 2 years ago. but I'm in high school now. it was a fun peace

  • Thats really gud but too slow...thats sad sager high is playing this song and sanger acadamy iss better than them haha(;

  • playing this for uil contest this year

  • I love this song! Thank you for posting it! XD

  • Our middle school is playing this song!!! Go CTMS!!!

  • I play flute for this song and it's a lot of fun; the melody and the contrast are my two favorite parts.

  • @KittyKat517065 I agree! I also play the flute part and it's so much fun but it's kind of hard to keep at the same tempo since it's so fast at my school but the band is getting better. Yay!

  • French horn part is hard because we hvae like 5 of them so it's hard to get a piano but it's a medium hardness level lol

  • Dudeeeee! The trumpets were super silent throughout E - G! That's beast. xD

  • Its kinda slow but it hella gud:D

  • I play all the parts on this piece because I'm cool. I play for xxxxxxxxxxxx middle school and I don't sound half bad. The director gave me all the parts because I'm the best.

    /sarcasm

  • @chaosofdoom2 You just gave me a very good laugh with that comment. Thank you so much! XD

    /NOT Sarcasm

  • @chaosofdoom2 thats called a score not a part

  • @chaosofdoom2 rofl

  • The base clarinet part isent even hard its hella funhh ilove the Solo:D

  • the percussion part in this piece is awesome :D i played xylo...

  • Were playing this in band, the base clarinet part is super hard.

  • bahaha omfg, i didnt know Frank Techeli aslo wrote this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAH THIS SO MADE MY DAY!!!!!! haha were playing Joy in concert band this year, simple but i enjoy it hahaha

  • My band is playing this, i have to play base drum, triangle, and tambourine. theyre easy seperate but super hard together

  • Interesting transitions. Its very enigmatic, but so vivacious as well! Its no doubt a work of a great composer... Adding this to my list!

  • God i used to play this on the flute. Why did i stop :/

  • the French Horn part on this is SOO hard

  • im playin dis too and our band isent dis soft

  • :c

Sounds scary to me. My band is playing it.

I renamed it "Portrait of a Kitten" on my paper so it wouldn't be so scary. c:

  • its all about the euphionum all the way

  • I play Clarinet. And we are plying this for our Spring Concert. Also Declaration Overture. I love this song!

  • Im playing this in band.

    Go Bass Clarinets!

Play it like a sax! Oh Yah!!!

  • I love this I just played this in a concert it is so easy trumpets rule

  • I'm playing this. And Clarinets sound better. ;D They mostly have the melody.

  • We r learning this song Im in percussion so its pretty pimp, but we dont hav a tuba! So Im gonna play snare and add a timpani part to substitute the dramatic change :) I thinl itll work XP

  • i play this in band!! we flutes are the awesomenest!!! I'm sorry, but it's the cold hard truth....

    **FLUTES ROCK THE WORLD!!**

  • @deonanna80 i like you deonna80! haha

  • I'm going to play this I'm 3 years old!!!!!

  • OMG i get to play this! YAY YAAAY!

  • @twigleek me too!!!!

  • played kind of slow, but a really nice piece

  • dam this is such a good song i herd about it 7th grade cuz my skool band played it n i still hum it n im in high skool now!!

  • @veronika2296 i get to play it this yr. an im in 7th grade and so did my brother

  • @fallentacoman12 Ya High Five,Jay........Wait?

  • i am going to play this song at school in a couple of days. i play the baritone.

    LETS GO LIVE OAK GRIZZLES

  • @fallentacoman12 im sorry but flute rocks better! we ALWAYS have the melody.

  • @twigleek not true sometime the brass has the melody and Trombones are the best of the best lol

  • @twigleek not always.... I play oboe and I'm pretty sure we have the melody the whole time too. I think all the instruments are equal. Without all of them there wouldn't be a band.

Oboe players are fabulous (and not to mention slightly crazy) as well. Don't provoke us.... we carry knives( to make reeds of course)....

  • @twigleek No way low brass and horns rock the audiences socks off!

  • @twigleek Ya and it's unfair!! Along with trumpets...Not to mention everyone plays flute or clarinet so of course more people would agree with you. Every piece (repeat: EVERY PIECE) we get, we have the the background sound and it's not like anyone hears it so it's disappointing...:( And hey, I play a cool instrument (the ONLY instrument that can play that snazzy sounding gliss ;D) so why not have the melody for once? It's not right/unfair. :(

  • @twigleek Sometimes we don't, but I love that we do most of the time. I hate songs with long rests. :(

  • @twigleek

    Pffffft, clarinets are rad.

Flutes are annoying most of the time, go so out of tune, and can't change their sound very well.

  • @twigleek Well you'd see in more advanced music that the melody is shared throughout the whole ensemble, instead of just flutes carrying the whole melody, which produces a one dimensional sound.

  • @AzNbOiJayJ umm ok thenn

  • @twigleek

lol. its so fucking true! I hate you guys! and trumpets..

    SAXES FTW!

    haha!

  • @hurricanrana22 wait you hate flutes???

  • @twigleek

Dislike... only coz flutes ALWAYS have the melody. saxes do sometimes, but not as much.

  • @twigleek Clarinets hav the melody too xD lol

  • im goin 2 play this peice at school

  • I am going to play this song in my concert

  • Played the mallets for this song in 7th grade :)

  • @xoxochi me too

  • @xoxochi me too at falcon cove 2008-2009

  • @rj979 fairgrove?????

  • @manuelsc6 no Falcon Cove Middle in Weston, Florida

  • White Station Middle School Band ROX!!!

  • I love this songg i played it at BlFAC<3

  • I got to Herberg Middle Shool and we are currently learning this for our Winter concert in Janary, we are doing very and it is a very complex yet interesting and fun song

  • Mallets are beast we got the melody and we r the finest mallets in the land. Go BDHS love this song.

  • Nostalgia at it's finest. My middle school band played this and I played the mallets. It seemed like nothing would top that, so I switched to alto sax.

  • In this song, I play crash cymbals, tambourine, triangle, and woodblock. That's half our percussion section.

    I LOVE IT!

  • Looove this song! In our bands version of this the flutes and bells have the main solo(: Go Flutes! (: Woot! Oh yeahh
