Shouldn't you make a video of how to get alerted 4 times, then call for medics to hold your hands for every call? Get a life wackers, and leave EMS to the paid professionals. Namely, the paramedics.
@skiingmedic Sounds like you've had a bad experience with volunteer EMS. Can't say I don't disagree with you there. The two volunteer agencies that I work at are very good as we're staffed 24/7 with duty crews not on-call crews. But some of the volunteer agencies nearby take almost fifteen minutes to respond. Pathetic.
I'm proud to say that I'm a Volunteer on a first aid squad! I've been a volunteer since April of this year. I'm starting out as a cadet and soon that will be changed to Cadet - EMT-B.
@jaselee4 Why do a job without getting paid? Because you get your satisfaction from knowing that you are keeping your community safe and helping people, not from a paycheck. Good fire depts and EMS agencies have high standards and provide extensive training to ensure that their personnel, volunteer or otherwise, are competent. Plus, volly emergency services saves taxpayers money.
@ICEMANof92 Everybody asks me the same damn thing. Why does everybody want to get paid instead getting that feeling that you're making a difference. If you ask me, that's more greater than getting a paycheck.
why do they undermine anyones job? i realize that paid emts do not get paid decently for the job they do....and it is baffling, but if there were no people willing to be volunteers i daresay their would be a great shortage of critical first responders just as there would be a shortage of firefighters if there were no volunteers. these are good people that want to help their communities regardless of financial gain....and they should not be discouraged from doing so.
Super video! Good story, good pictures, brings the message over well (BTW: looks like a great training site you have there). The NJ office of EMS public relation department sure did a good job. I hope, the vollies on the street there do as well (at least in the video they look professional).
Anyone remember "Mrs. Mack" who worked the 11 pm - 7 am "Nightshift" Patient Registration Area at the HOLY NAME HOSPITAL Emergency Room #8307 in Teaneck, NJ 1982-2006? She Passed Away on January 7, 2008. Mrs. Mack was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and has 5 children and 4 grandchildren. She was a Very Hardworking Person who had experienced a lot in her life. The Family will Always Cherish The Memories Of Their Mother. No matter how difficult things got; the family pulled through it all.
Good job to all, didn't think we had volunteer rescue anymore. I was on Abs.Vol.Amb Sq about seven years. I lived in my overalls. It gave me great satisfation helping others. It gave me my start in my medical field, lots of experience. I live in another state now, and think back miss the work, and the many friends I made while there. God Bless you and all volunteers.Thank you for your service.

I hope the political strife is less in NJ than it is in upstate NY!! If your not part of the "good ole boys club" they don't want you here!
