THIS IS WHEN LIFE WAS FUN ! AND CAREFREE, NO WAR,NO ECONOMIC MELT DOWNS, NO FUCKIN' BULLSHIT MUSIC ,DANCE ,DRINK, DRESS IN YOUR DESIGNER DUDS, SMOKE, TOKE, JUST ENJOY YOURSELF AND FORGET THE ALL THE SHIT !
For those of us in the UK Don's "The Garden Of Love" album, which includes this excellent song was re-released in a remastered version in November 2011. Worth checking out.
Hey,guess what.I still have this album in mint condition. This was or is a great album! Some great disco songs on it that I use to dance to.WOW!,where did the time go?
@oldschoolbx1970 Me too! I can't stand any of the music out. I haven't heard these old Disco tunes for a while but boy do they seem really good now! I mean, they were danceable, the music and musicianship was top notch and the message of the songs were all positive. Got to have loving!
The best Dance music producer along with Cerrone and Alec Constandinos.......c'mon guys get back together and produce new dance music....it would be superb !
my kinda era....i stil have my vinyls ...only 300....long versions of lots of good music..music was my high back then..dance my ass off at studio 54,xenon,1018,funhouse,starbucks,electric circus, roseland, limelight, playboyclub, paladium, silverscreen, red parrot, copa, etc, etc
As much as I love this song (this coming from a guy born in 1990), what makes it better is the message it sends which still rings true to this very day.
We all need loving, but some people have whacked out means of getting it, thus ruining it for all parties involved.
grandi della disco fine anni 70 Cerrone econ Don Ray con questo "riempi-pista".....consiglio cerrone histeria , ad inizio anni 200o ripropone i suoi grandi successi ...musica intramontabile
If I had to pick my all-time favorite disco songs (I could possibly narrow it down to 30) -this superb gem has always been Top 5 !!! followed by THP, Cerrone, John Davis and Alec Costendinos - the elite of glossy disco!
what a hot boy he is/was. back in 79 anyway. met him when he came up to the booth and introduced himself. i about dropped dead, as i had it on the 2nd turntable ready to be mixed in. coincidence? nothing's a coincidence. -djQ
VERY VERY GOOD VERSION originale VINYLE !!!!bravo Sylvain to PARIS (FRANCE) but MERCI CERONNE thr french créator !!! NO ? authentique vynil !!bravo !!
Excellent...real dance music....as played in the clubs of the free world in the 1970's. Bobby Guttadaro played this to the last in 'Studio 54'....good memories.
I totally agree with @snake7154......those were the Good old days.. today well its just an illusion, Todays generation is just CLUELESS about LIFE period...
Today is September 5th my b-day.Iam so glad to have this song.We grew up in N.Y.when the disco's wers soooo hot and we diddn't care how long we waited to get into the clubs, snow be damned!!!!! Kids today have no clue, and no generation after us Exer's will be able to pull up crap the way we did!!!!!(HA)We ruined for you silly children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@snake7154 Now, Now! You are sounding just like me and you are making me feel old! LOL....I remember that "old" New York of the 1970's ...there was crime and grime here but damn it there were real people here, it was our City......
50 cent Subway...half off from 6;00 pm Saturday to 1:00 am Monday ......
The WTC was our pride, Disco ruled..
42nd Street is today a tourist trap, the subway is $2.25 .rents are in the thousands everywhere ......
Some of us are still here, many of us remember .....
Let's not let nostalgia cloud our judgment. Not just crime and grime, from 1975-1990 aprox. NYC was a dump. Would I prefer it were less shiny and expensive now? Absolutely. Would I trade it for the days of city bankruptcy, widespread police corruption, Son of Sam, zombie junkie muggers all over the place, rampant drug dealing EVERYWHERE in full view, Etan Patz, Howard Beach, etc? No way. I hate the plasticity and expense but enjoy not having my life in danger even more.
@KikoSavesTheDay I agree with you, the city was a MESS in that era - yet the one incontestable truth from that time is that the clubs - and music - were incomparable. For just one more Sat night at the Paradise Garage in its 79-82 heyday I would sell my very soul.
@KikoSavesTheDay, you just took me through memory lane! Don't get me wrong I don't miss the crime and the grime ...its very different today than it was back then, somewhat yes, plastic and overpriced yet I would not trade it now for the "good old days" which were not so good. I do feel so much safer now than I did say in 1989.
@KikoSavesTheDay I miss those days, so what you are saying is that it was more dangerous then than it is now? Im sorry but I dont agree with you. Today is full of evil motherfuckers. Back then people were real, what you saw was what you got. Drugs were innocent than..and not like now where every motherfucker is a crackhead. We did mescaline, smoked a lil dust, did a lil speed, but it was for out partying, I didnt base my life on it day in and out, I didnt steal for it, or hurt anyone.
@harleydd The City WAS (much) more dangerous then. Just check the crime statistics. But I think that's part of what gave New York so much energy back then. Giuliani and now Bloomberg have turned NYC into a theme park: Disneyland Manhattan.
@KikoSavesTheDay (CONT'D) I would take those days over today any day....You say Son of Sam, today we had Dahmer, junkie muggers will always be around forever. Its worst now. Blowing up the WTC, terrorism, pedophilia rampant, priests fucking little boys and getting away with it, kids not fistfighting anymore, today its guns, people dont know how to fight anymore..these young thugs of today have no moral, no education, how can you compare then til now...Please re think about it.
I'm not saying we live in a paradise; it's a complicated world now. But this was a very, very dangerous city back then, even w/o the threat of terrorism. In '76 my parents sold their profitable business and took my brother and I out of the city 'cause they didn't want to raise us here. After visiting every summer, I moved back as an adult over 20 years ago. But the same mother who uprooted us then, can't get enough of the city now. Good or bad, that should tell you something.
Great post, great video and song!! Im having fun and enjoying listening to my favorite songs of the 70's now that you are back my friend!! Looking forward to some more videos/songs in the days ahead. Thanks again for the post.
We had the money! We threw it down! Can't say I didn't enjoy it! The big plus: I could dance! Thank you all! GQ......
