Perhaps the most distinctive part of Bonamassa's playing is that violin-like quality he gets when he's really in the zone. I don't know any other player who sounds like that, it's most unusual. You wouldn't call it "bluesy" exactly, it's a more abstract feel than that but it gives his playing a hypnotic quality, almost like a sitar.
Um... 5050NM: So if he wears a suit he has no street cred? Don't you think its a bit silly to be the blues fashion police here? Jimi Hendrix taught us we can wear what we want to. This guy knows what he is doing - see him LIVE. Also this is YouTube audio quality - think that's going to sound great?

You can tell the great players by there violin sounding fluidic playing, I like what he does with that marshall class 5 on another video, how his fingers can acheive that tone is amazing, is fluidic even a word?
A stiff, unconvincing version compared to ZZ Top. This guy and his suit jacket has no street cred. If he got paid today, it was by direct deposit from his office job. Just because you CAN noodle around with a long guitar solo, doesn't mean one SHOULD. It goes nowhere and fizzles out into formless jazz bleck, if you ask me.
he made a mistake at 2:37 which meant he had to improvise the rest of the solo....but it sounded just like it had meant to be played that way - he's so f*cking awesome
i love Eric j but honestly he can occasionally sound like a noodle-armed choirboy as groundskeepers Willie would put it .Joe digs in and pulls the notes from the guitar. he demands them where Eric persuades them .im not saying better or worse i jest prefer Joe.
met him in jersey a few years ago at a WDHA. blast, JOE was warming up and he was playing eric johnson type stuff, so I say hey that sounds like eric johnson!, and he says : thank you! he was friendly and blew the roof off the place.
He's almost like a progressive blues player the way he goes outside of the blues scale, i.e. Minor, Phrygian, Lydiann... I love his playing but the EJ influence is really prominent here.
JB is awesome. I have been watching him for years. Probably my favorite current guitarist...but the suit and the slicked back hair of late has been a bit odd. The guy can just get up and PLAY! Besides once you hear him sit down and talk, the cool image goes flying right out the window. LOL ...but he is a MASTER on the guitar! Thanks for posting this vid!
Dude when you get as good as he is, he could come out in a clown outfit and a tutu and i would still go and see him! i could care less what he looks like, he has a good stage performance and amazing talent its about the music not the image which is why he mixes his image up
Well, luckily I will never be as good as him so I won't have to worry about it. I think I might have also stated your point with the "MASTER on the guitar" comment. Cheers to JB and here is to hoping the clown outfit and the tutu never come into play. Hope you get to see him live someday!
He played that like the fuckin' devil, dude. I've never heard of this guy, but he's slinging licks like SRV! I'll have to check out more of his stuff.
haha interesting analogy, his vocals and playing completely eclipse his look, be it slightly redundant, i think bonamassa could be in his birthday suit and still manage to pull off coool
THANKS kees0geerts!!!!! wonderful job..hope you saw him more than once!!!!!..now we need joe back in the NYC area!!!!! don't understand the language above....but i bet he blew you guys away!!! stevie ray jr!
I'm very honorred that this video belongs to your favorites. It was really a great concert.
I've seen him once, but not for the last time. From now on I will follow his concerts, and when he is in the neighbourhood, the Netherlands is a very small country, I will be there, and hope to make more wonderful videos.
It´s not even a videocamera. A simple 5 megapixel digitale camera. Of cours I also can make videos with it. But you´re right. The sound is very good. Thanks for the compliments, and I am satisfied that it´s one of your favorites. Hope you will enjoy my other videos to.
I saw Joe when he was 12. He opened up for B.B. King and he was a great player then, but now he's an F'in monster on the guitar!!

Wow, heel gaaf. Ik was er ook bij echt vet om nog even terug te kijken naar dat dikke concert.
Echt mooi hoe hij voor je gaat staan als hij los gaat, dat viel me tijdens het concert ook al op dat hij dat veel deed. Cool :D
