@MrBagginsEsq - If you have the larger laying breeds like the buff orpington, NHR, or RIR, I would recommend buying a either a small or a medium dog harness, it really saves you the trouble from making one, I walk my NHR rooster, Bruce Red around when I get to take him to places, I just think he is the most spoiled rooster in the world.

They actually sell harnesses specifically made for birds like parrots and chickens, so no, it's not hurting them! It keeps them from straying too far, so it's safer in case a dog or something is nearby... you can pick them up quick!
