  • Nice videos! 5*

If I may I'd recommend newbies looking for a utility knife get a Mora and use it for their average daytrip. The idea being to test what they realistically need and then serving a niche as dirty job knives.

With the observations they make they should be able to work out additional capabilities they need ie: More length, width, heft; a different blade geometry or a more ergonomic handle. Some of the more tacticool knives come up woefully short in comparison. My 0.02 €.

  • Its true, and I think it mostly boils down to thickness, that most tacticool knives are just to fat! For some reason people think the wider the better and steel just isnt tough enough unless it is at least 1/4" thick.

  • there are some windows emulator for linux, usually comes with it, with those you can run windows programs on linux, look it up

  • Yea that is why I said to use an emulator like WINE if you dont want to dual boot, still most just dual boot to play games, as WINE isnt always dependable.

  • Great series. It made me pull out my sharpener and oil to do some maintenance.

  • LOL me too actually, I have a video coming up on that as soon as I convert to Fedora from Ubuntu

  • great you are a linuxer! :-D what software do you use to edit your videos?

  • Well, I was using Kdenlive, but I cant get .0.7.5 for Fedora, so I had to use cinelerra which I found out I cant get for Fedora 11, so I had to use Pitivi which I had render problems with, so I switched to the standby Kino, which has audio problems in the edit mode, but luckly it rendered out OK. Point it, I am either switching back to Ubuntu or to OpenSuse again, I am not sure, but I am thinking Kubuntu.....

  • Perhaps you could one day make a video on how to make the switch from Windows/Mac to linux for dummies? Open source programs and "platforms" or whatever things like Ubuntu are not too complex to get your hands on, but actually using the system seems slightly intimidating. I also like some computer games which, as of yet, haven't been linux compatible. Is there any way to get around that? Prob not. Don't know if you would be interested in making these kind of videos, but I would certainly watch.

  • I run as many OS programs on my computer as I can, but I would one day like to completely eliminate microsoft from my life. I suppose maybe I could at least get a computer to run both windows and linux on while I'm learning, and eventually just use windows for games. Interesting idea...

  • LOL looks like we where thinking the same thing! LOL I just use Linux, Ubuntu actually, but for a while I dual booted. I do miss my games, but I really havnt looked into how to play them, I tried the wine but I was missing some stuff and I havnt got it yet, I may just dual boot a windows OS in the background.

It is nice to be free though!

  • I may make some in the future...

As for playing PC games, what most people do is either dual boot with a windows os as an option to play your games (Linux is really easy to install as a dual booting OS, really easy so you keep windows as well), or use an emulator like WINE that works with many windows applications.

  • i cant recommend kubuntu, but e.g. for ubuntu there is an interesting new program, a very simple app. youtube: watch?v=9ljEb1PdEdM

  • Yea back on Ubuntu anyway now, quick and painless conversion as always. I will check it out.

  • GREAT video series!!!

  • thanks man

  • I like the emphasis on getting a knife you like, instead of just using a knife as an investment (though it can be both). Knives should be personal to appreciate them.

  • Totally, I say anything you get you should like, but especially knives. If you dont like your collection, perhaps its time to sell it (to meeeee!!! for very low cents on the dollar) and move on to something you enjoy.

  • Good series, well informative and helpful, appreciated eh. This kind of thought process is invaluable for anyone buying a knife, collectors or just users. Thanks.

  • Thanks a lot, high praise friend!

  • Your more than welcome, I strongly feel that congratulations; commendations, praises,( if you like) should be given and need to be given to those making an effort, expending their own valuable time, to give others something of educational value effecting the the broadening of someone's education or mind-set. You, among my other similar interest Subscriptions, manage to do this splendidly. Thanks.

  • We do it because (well at least I, and I assume the others) of people like you who watch!

(nice profile by the way, funny list)

  • Another great an informative series, man!

That's a great collection, as well!

I'm more of a folder-guy, so, appreciate seeing a different, very comprehensive perspective! Thanks, Man!

  • Thanks man, yea I am more of a fixed blade guy, I have more that I could have showed, but I didnt want to bring them upstairs lol, Lazy wins out with me a lot.

I just think that too many people think that there is only a few things to look at with fixed blades, steel, tang, and sheath.

Folders certainly have a lot more to them to look at before a purchase, but fixed blades do as well, and many things in here can be transfered to folders as well.

  • The variety of music in the intro is refreshing, would be nice if you could put the tittle in the info

Great series, thanks a lot I have learned a lot from youtubers like you.

  • Thanks man, the band in all the videos (same song throughout them all, just different sections) was Phish - Twist (Twist is the song)
