I have to respectfully disagree, I'm British but I have every respect for the intention of this album and for the actual quality of it musically. For one History is always an interesting subject to sing about and all the songs on this album do a good job of that. And as for the more "patriotic" songs on it, they are about the good things that America was founded on, and there's no jingoism to them. I find it sad that so many people feel the need to act like that when talking about this album.

well u seem to be part of the minority on the subject matter. the great Iced Earth songs are far too thrashy so be sang by a guy who can only sing power metal type music. Barlow has the lows and highs. the growls and screams. the snarls etc. he is Iced Earth, just the way i and most others like it, and want them to be. not to mention Barlow is the man live. he really doesnt do too bad on Ripper songs either, at least at the show i saw them at or some vids on here.

Actually their sounds aren't that different, they both bring a slightly different tone and a different emotion to their tracks. But they also don't switch off on the same album or worse, the same track.

So no, only a slightly different change in vocal styles, it's not so much different then switching out a guitarist or drummer that is better for a certain sound.

And it's certainly not something so strange as say Anthrax doing that crossover with Public Enemy lol.
