  • 1. The tenor is Rosvaenge not Ralf.

    2. Can anyone tell my why Knappertsbusch did not get into trouble after the war?

  • Is the entire song on the DVD?

  • @DickCabezaLtd No, this is the only part which was recorded.

  • Glorious !

  • Great conductor

  • mostly video doesn't syncs with sound...BRILLIANT VERSION ! BRILLIANT !

  • long live kna!!!!!!!!!!

  • you can see in his face that he had no soul. funny - did any of those idiots in the chorus or in the orchestra realize the irony of what they were singing about or playing about?

  • 一年前のフルトヴェングラーの時の演奏と違って、合唱団の団員さんの表情が暗いのはスターリングラード敗戦の直後の演奏(43年4月)だからでしょうか?

  • I own this excellent and chilling documentary from BCS.

    Thank you Stefan.

  • You are right, we should never forget. But we should be objective. And your stupid prejudice about Furtwängler shows that you never read a book about him, about his intentions and about that history. Sorry......

  • i like his little big tail on his forehead

  • titan...

  • "Art in the Service of Evil" what kind of jackass made up that title.

  • the best 9th symphony's final i never heard!

    almost perfect!

    germanic orchestra conducted and interpreted!

very rigourous german spirit because germany under third Reich.both explication!

    bravo!

  • @lechevalier66 It must be a total relief to you that this ensemble is "Jew-free!"

  • que voces ,que maravilloso..........

    extraordinario,que sonidos por dios.....

    BRAVISIMO.♥♥♥

  • Grazie Ludvig Van!

  • Incorrect spelling of his name it should be Knappertsbusch.

  • The spelling is okay. It's the same as different spellings of other German names in English -- like Schwartz and Schwarz. It's just different ways of putting the German into English phonetic conventions.

  • thanks yove taught me something.

  • Thanks you've taught me something.

  • Oops. Now that I look at the name again on the video title, I can see that it is, in fact, misspelled. I thought it said Knappersbusch which (along with Knappertsbusch) is a spelling I've seen in history books. But Knapperstbusch is definitely wrong --- so you are right. Glad you replied!

  • This competes with Von Karajan.

  • the best man of the world and of the history.

  • I seriously hope you mean Beethoven.

  • Hitler was a good man.

  • Celebration of Hitler's birthday? WTF????

  • You are ignorant.

  • "If only we didn't have that damn rehearsal!" Interesting concept from Kna. Sounds great.

  • GREAT CONDUCTOR

  • I love Knapperstbusch's recordings - particularly Bruckner's 5th - but it's uncanny how his bone structure likens him to the skull on those SS death's head caps. The whole DVD is well worth buying.

  • I must say fuck ignorancy, and no matter what, the arts and fine music cannot and should not be bashed...

He is a great conductor and was just doing what his passion and job was...

  • Bravo! Excellent tempo and rhythm. Most original, in my opinion. Don't give a shit if Hitler's name (Hitler, the murderer and madman, that is) is associated with it. In my opinion, this was an excellent performance. BRAVO!!! Bravo.

  • great performance. just puts a bad taste in my mouth that it was for hitler.

  • great performance

  • Knappertsbusch is a very controversed conductor, very subjective, very personal... but I don't agree he is overrated.

  • que mal director, buuu!!!! no manches . a bad conductor, horrible he have not filing.

  • art in the service of evil...i wonder who was the jackass that made that tittle

  • actually it was whoevr made the dvd

  • wow this is great and your a pompous boastful bragging nonsense of a snob.

  • are you sure what you are saying? Who are you?

  • Absolutely overrated conductor judging only from this video. Pompous, boastful, bragging nonsense of a performance.

  • are you sure what you are saying? who are you?

  • kkk

  • Why pompous and boastful? Kna with very economical gestures gets great things from the orchestra. For example, he make little broader movements with his right arm and the strings in pizzicati answers inmediatly with a crescendo. Where is the pomp in a modest man who usually refuse the applause from public. Surely, four minutes are not enough to judge Kna: hear his Wagner, his Schumann, his Brahms...
