shane hitt and tim far both raced 250rs in the pro class and had more sponsers than you could believe to back them up. jp racing sent hitt an entire shock/a-arm/swingarm kit just to break out of retirement for a weekend to have a little fun. now if you ask me thats a sponsor thats really looking
Honda is different. They offer pretty much no factory support in the world of ATV and dirt bike racing.. most honda racers are privateers and depend on aftermarket companies to keep them going as far as sponsorship goes. So in that case they aren't really tied to factory quads as much as they are parts. And they are so talented in their careers that they can get away with using 250r's, because they don't race them all the time.
if thats so then why is it that in nearly every atv race series is there no banshee? and what do you have done to your motor, if youve got somthin i bet they didnt have that in the 80's. just an example here. the pikes peak national hill climb michael coburn raced his 450r beat 45o record by 28 sec. and was only 8 seconds behind the banshee record, beating every quad there including the 500cc big bore banshees...
There's no banshee's in most ATV races because of the manufacturers. They try as hard as they can to promote the 450, that if you race a banshee no sponsors or even yamaha will look at you. They want to make money and keep producing new quads, so they want to make the new quads look the best. There's lots of people out there that say "Look Joe Byrd rides a 450r guess I should buy one" and it's sad. Plus, while the banshee's don't handle horrendous, the front end geometry leaves some to b desired
So of course, as time goes on, newer quads will handle better and better. I will not argue that. But I am perfectly comfortable on my banshee. But that screaming banshee engine will live on forever. You can't beat a banshee when it comes to performance. There's endless mods and even with just bolt-ons they are tremendous performers. And they have a lot in the 80's. Dirtwheels did a project banshee in 89 I believe built by Trinity or alba.
All I have is pipes, reeds, and a filter. I have YET to come across any fourstroke by me that can beat me. Sure, there's a lot of built 450's out there that can take me. But at what cost? I actually just recently bought a hotrods crank and sending out my cylinders to be dune/play ported soon. All for cheap and a super reliable 65-70hp set-up depending on compression.
And about pikes peak, racing is all about the rider, the quad only helps ;]

Also, look for the duncan dual barrel exhaust on ebay, it's pretty much the same exact thing but with an oval canister, not alien head shaped
What the 916's? Yeah, the sound fucking amazing. IMO the best sounding pipe made for the banshee. I had T5's but had a chance to trade and didn't hesitate at all.

I bought it used from a member on a atv forum i go on all the time. I have the full system dual-exhaust. They discontinued the alien a couple years ago for their new model afterburner which is a shame. They now make alien pipes for 2-strokes, no longer 4-strokes. They pop up on ebay from time to time also. Just keep an eye out.
Depends on where/who you buy it from. They stopped making it a couple years ago, so pretty hard to find. Pop up on ebay from time to time. The e-series is alright, but ive never been a big fan of wb. The only pipe I would EVER consider trading the alien for is a curtis sparks.. other than that i love the alien.

nope. The 400ex is duals all the way back to the actual canister. The midpipe on the canister itself is different to continue to duals.
They did make just a slip-on available though. That might work, but you would need to customize it a little bit to fit. As long as it isnt part of the 400ex full system, that was duals. The slip-on version was like a regular mid-pipe
They do make them. The alien itself is hard to find. Check out z400central occasionally and always check ebay. But, be in mind that the kfx/Z 400 wont be duals all the way back. It's just a singe header all the way to the canister, but a similar silencer. The 400ex has dual exhaust ports
Please don't comment if you don't know what the hell you're talking about. DMC now only makes the alien for the blaster and banshee. They started making the afterburner 4-stroke exhaust. They used to make a 4-stroke alien a couple years ago, but discontinued it to make the new afterburner comp and quiet.

nope. The 400ex is duals all the way back to the actual canister. The midpipe on the canister itself is different to continue to duals.
They did make just a slip-on available though. That might work, but you would need to customize it a little bit to fit. As long as it isnt part of the 400ex full system, that was duals. The slip-on version was like a regular mid-pipe

They do make them. The alien itself is hard to find. Check out z400central occasionally and always check ebay. But, be in mind that the kfx/Z 400 wont be duals all the way back. It's just a singe header all the way to the canister, but a similar silencer. The 400ex has dual exhaust ports

i thought the alien was for the blater and banshee.u probably put a dmc exhaust but not a dmc alien

Please don't comment if you don't know what the hell you're talking about. DMC now only makes the alien for the blaster and banshee. They started making the afterburner 4-stroke exhaust. They used to make a 4-stroke alien a couple years ago, but discontinued it to make the new afterburner comp and quiet.
Please get your facts straight. Im not a dumbass, I know whats on my quad.

They stopped production of it 2-3 years ago, I got it used from a member on atvriders. They pop up on ebay occasionally, but pretty hard to find.

no, because the alien is true duals all the way back. they did offer a slip-on for the 400ex though, which had a different midpipe to fit on the stock header.

Not yet. I will eventually, but it runs pretty decently the way it is now, so I never really rushed to the dealer to buy jets. I will soon, because I want to jet it so I can take the lid off. Probably going to a 158 main and 42 pilot

It's alright. Everyones entitled to their opinions, right? I will admit, FMF has a real smooth sound, very refined. The DMC makes more power though.
Ive ran nothing but FMF on all of my old and recent two-strokes, except now I have DMC 916's for my banshee

Yeah, they stopped making 4-stroke aliens 2-3 years ago. They still pop up on ebay occasionally, and I bought mine off of a forum.
There are 3 generations:
1) Oval Canister
2) Alien shaped canister (bolts in end cap inward)
3) alien shaped canister (bolts in canister outward)

Thanks! She runs real good. I dont understand why people turn their idles up to like 2000rpm. The 400ex stock is supposed to be 1400, and I have a vapor speedo/tach to adjust it so its right on. (tach not installed in this vid, same setting as when I bought it)
