Most are now multi-use. A camera that sells at Walgreens takes 3 AAA batteries and is $30. The problem with these camera's is the price. They work fine and make decent pictures, but you can buy a much better camera for only $30 to $40 dollars more. There is one at Walmart for $69 that comes with a USB cord, a 4GB SD card, and a case.

I guess the designers of this camera counted on 2 things:

1) There were older buyers who either didn't have a computer or didn't want to learn digital photography - they just wanted to take pictures and get the prints back like in the old days.

2) Anyone who *is* tech savy wouldn't be stupid enough to buy this camera and take time to modify an expensive cable, then download hacking software to get results worse than a $29.95 digital camera that already includes software and a cable.
