Im so sorry to hear what happened to Darrien Albert. I wonder what his morning was like on that day? I wonder what he was thinking as he saw this happening around him. I am saddened so much by the meaningless death of such a young kid. Nothing can give back what was taken away from his family, but hopefully the event made a difference in attitudes, and policy. It's all a shitty situation. and a lose, lose situation. My heart goes out to his family, and to the man he would have been.

Parents are mostly responsible for the violence of young people. Because when they know their child has committed a violent crime, they don't make them take responsibility1 In-fact, they protect them. Loving our children does not mean we have to protect them from themselves and the violence they committed. How then will they learn that hurting others is wrong? by hiding them from the law, give them the assurance that no matter what they do, mom and dad will always back them up and out of jail.

when our children commit violent crimes parents cannot protect them from taking responsibility, only when mothers can stand up to their own chidren and make them take responsibility for their violent ways, then and only then will our young people begin to understand that they must change their ways because there is no where to hide when they commit violent crimes.

I'm sure if anyone spoke to the parents of the kids respponsible for the beating, you will hear them say their kids are good kids.

@Dwight1117 to be honest as a black person myself, if more and more black parents & kids would just surround themselves with a more diverse crowd (whites, asians, hispanics) perhaps a lot of these deaths wouldn't be occurring and that means that more black people need to stop acting like other races are from different planets and just give them a chance because it seems as though the more blacks separate themselves from society, the more children have to suffer.

Derrion Alberts death didn't change much there were more fights at Fenger a week after his death. The violence will not stop I'm sorry for how things turned out for Derrion and his family. I didn't go to the funeral I couldnt bring myself to it. Derrion Albert was loved and will be missed. Many other Chicago teens have been killed and his murder was caught on tape which I think opened ppl's eyes but there were so many more students who were kjilled in Chicago.
