RIP Jeff you are missed greatly.. SWB ..
This was from a TV show called "Night Music" sponsored by Michelob, I used to watch it religiously - it ran for only two seasons in the early 90's.
Hosted by Jools Holland and bandleader David Sanborn - the house band members included Marcus Miller, Hiram Bullock, Omar Hakim (not Steve Jordan) and Philippe Saisse - sometimes George Duke. Very cool music program that teamed up unusual musical greats, hence Dr. John and Jeff Healey.....
This Pretty Much Slams The Door SHUT On ANY Guitar Player Who Thinks They Are The Shizatch, Shut Up And Start Playing With Your Soul - Or Don't Play.
This is from a show called Night Train I think, which was produced by Lorne Michaels back in the 80s and hosted by David Sanborn. They had great acts on from every genre but this performance by Jeff Healey ranks up there with the best.
@njacovides37 Watching Healey in the zone makes your brain split ..I want to quit playing Guitar one second and the next and lock myself into a room with one for about 10 years!!! Rolling Stone Magazine is certainly massively full of shit if they think this Cat is not in the top 5.

Always puts huge smile on my face, this one. Miss you Jeff. Like crazy. You were truly unique. Musically and personally.
Has much more stage presence, talent, a good and creative ear, faster hands, wiled coordination, and discipline than you will ever muster. Oh yeah, and a good heart.
Why you post meaningless garbage that the three fourths I didn't finish reading is probably just as rude. Stop lying to dig yourself out of a hole that you dug online. I bet you are the type of musician who has to stare at their instrument because they don't have soul or that part of the brain that naturally gives some people rhythm. Go practice with your metronome and post a performance half as good as this one. This blind man, and that's not what makes him an outstanding guitarist and person,
Outrightrocker... Wow really? I listen to Jeff much more often then watch him. He is great and puts a lot of soul into his music. Who cares if publicists and so on encouraged him to do silly things on stage? He doesn't even know what his mullet looks like... As for the unoriginality, that doesn't need an argument because he plays his songs from his soul and pulls off classic blues sound very well by making it his own and doing what he loves. You wanted to see people's responses and that's why y
Oh man, I miss this guy. I moved to Toronto at 19, and a month later got to jam with Jeff at a club. HE PLAYED DRUMS!!!!! It felt wrong, haha, playing guitar while one of my heroes sat on the kit.
He was a true musician, Jeff. Anyone who heard him play miss his art, but those of us lucky enough to meet the man miss the sweet guy he was. He was a real inspiration, on many levels.
I am sorry that I almost forgot about you Jeff until I saw this video a few days ago. It has been a great blast from my past and a great idea to use for my blog.
blues at it.s best amazing guitar style. nice guy as one of my friends was lucky to meet and have a drink with him in his bar, real gentleman no airs or graces.
Outrightrocker is some sort of serial pest, no good comments, so not sure what the attention is for.. ... Go buzz off to another page and redefine your existance..maybe be nice beware of the I know everything Sydrome it will do you no favours..
All I can say to this is that familiarity breeds contempt. Good luck to you on your continuous rampage on a person who has passed on. A person who I knew personally and was a sweetheart. You deserve nothing less, or more for that matter, than what you get. As do we all. Perhaps I am stupid, but I've played with and shared the stage with people you will only dream of. Good luck to you. You see my name on there? I use my real name, not some retarded moniker. Talk about stupid..lol
@outrightrocker: I imagine you are 25 years old or younger...lol Maybe not chronologically, but mentally and emotionally definitely. Speaking of someone hitting their head, please understand that it's not your fault that someone dropped you on your melon when you were a baby...lmao
Jeff's one of the best to play a six string..no wonder everyone wanted to jam with him...Steve Lukather ,Ian Gillan, Edgar Winter..and these greats....Still amazing to hear..and for us lucky ones, see as well..
If we want to bag out a band mentioned ,,MUSE? Gay boys with faggy hairdo's and 3 chord wonders that sound like they picked up an instrument last week...thank god for effects, sampling and some strange film clip on a ship, 14 million hits buy teenage mutants that need musical lessons..
Matt bellamy was classicly trained and has taken neo-classical rock to a new level, the songs could be better I agree (thus my use of the word PERHAPS) but listen to the link and tell me he "picked up an instrument last week". You sir are a moron.
what about those 6 guys that voted "no" for this video? do they know anything about guitar? jeff was a monster! he played with grace, passion and fury, lighting everyone around!!!!! great song!!!!!! great performance!!!!!
Being from Canada, I've seen Jeff many times and actually had the pleasure of meeting the man in Edmonton... chance meeting but lasted a few minutes, I play guitar and Fender and I broke the ice with a guitar player question... one of the nicest dudes I ever met... so very humble and sincere
Its ironic that Jeff sings a song about "seeing the light" when he is blind.
HAHAHAHA.
Also it was cool until he stood up and looked like a total mong shaking his head around like a down syndrome.
Oh yeah and I was the guy who disliked this video 5 times so suck on that, you guys must be blind because you dont think the dancing was stupid you have to agree this guy is a massive spazz.
@fudgecool Sorry but it's just like watching a freakshow, no way I could ever take him seriously with his head being whiplashed back and forth like he's in a car accident.
@outrightrocker It's not like he's ever known what he looks like when he performs that would have been kinda hard. Not to mention he was just really into the music just like any real musician would be. And when a man could play like that in his shoes they're not in any way a SPAZZ so lay off!
@nantz7831 Yeah sure in a live recording just listening to the sound is great hes good at playing the guitar, but dont let his twisted way of playing the guitar and your sympathy for him detract from the quality of the music. This song has no originality atall, it is THE standard blues song structure and his tone and style of playing sounds like every blues player going apart from Jack white, bb king, srv etc. So yeah listening to it I'd be like "decent unoriginal guitarist" but watching is LOL.
@outrightrocker You`re a tool mate, how about we all see how good YOU are at being an `actual` musician and a friggin blind one at that! You`re full of wind so i reckon the bagpipes`d suit you to a tee! Its a real shame people like you waste so much good oxygen on this planet.
@himmy842 Just because I dont do what he does doess't mean I cant have a value opinion on him. Look face it when you see him shaking his head back and forth like dieing baby having an epileptic fit dont you just want to chunder? And the music makes me feel ill too, its so boring and unoriginal. If you want original blues go listen to Jack White. Also atleast Jack doesnt bounce his head around like a brain damaged down syndrome. I hate Jeff because h died by hitting head on a wall unintentionally
@outrightrocker You know what dude, I'm happy that insensitive assholes like you lead miserable loveless lives. I don't even hate you for your comments because I'm sure your life sucks. Jeff Healey was an amazing man and I bet the only time you feel like a man is when you jack off to porn, imagining yourself with a woman you can never, ever hope to be with.
@Grimgator Firstly, yes I was really harsh about Jeff, but you should have noticed I was half joking to get a reaction. I wanted people to reply and hear thier reasons for loving Jeff, wanted to hear thier musical knownledge and whether they could think for themselves. The outcome wasnt suprising. Basically everyone said something along the lines of "he's blind, I'd like to see you do that", so basically Im allowed no opinion if im worse at something. Also the root of the "jealousy" tended to..
@outrightrocker And Jack White is cool and all... but hes a horrible singer, a decent guitar player at best. I just watched It Might Get Loud which featured him, and he's an incredibly shallow musician. He's got nothing on Jeff Healey, and you've got nothing on Jack White. So go on fantasizing about him
@Grimgator be linked to my lack of a girlfriend etc or my lack of outgoingness. And yes atleast you've given reasons to your arguement but if you strip away the bullshit your just another clueless sheep. I mean if there was no video would you still listen to a mediocre singing blues musician? Your allowing yourself to be "blinded" by his gimmicky way of playing the guitar. There is no denying that Jeff was technically great at playing guitar, but as music goes the quality is very poor. Here is..
@outrightrocker Maybe when you get older you'll learn that the right way to provoke debates and reactions is by presenting valid arguments. The very fact that you thought you had to insult someone to do it shows your immaturity.
@Grimgator =) carry on playing your boring cover's of 5 minute to learn chord songs (laziness?) and listening to music which doesnt challenge you or make you think in anyway. Jeff Healey is easy listening and he knows it pahahaha.
@Grimgator ...saying that I applaud you for being able to enjoy the easy listening, painful watching combo. Everytime I go on this page to reply to you my mouse darts towards the pause button before I hear or (god forbid) watch this trainwreck of a performance. The Jeff Healey Band is where creativity goes to die.
Will be listening to Fleetwood Mac, Clutch, any Jack White bands, Muse perhaps, QOTSA, Them Crooked Vultures, Arctic Monkeys, and anything else which is differenent + good. xxx
@outrightrocker you know what I applaud YOU for? Being able to listen to your own voice for all these years. Holy fuck. I would have killed myself 10 times over by the time I was your age (what, 14? 12?). I'm not even going to make fun of Jack White - why bother? You're much easier to make fun of. And so what if my songs I cover took 5 minutes to learn? That's longer than you'll ever last with a woman.
@Grimgator the Jack White fanboy train. He is the only person revolutionising blues rock right now and imo was much more interesting than either the edge or Jimmy page. listen to this /watch?v=RPeuFt749l8 and tell me he sucks. Its raw, pure blues and his style of playing is unique even if he hasnt the best playing technique. Yes underneath its just the blues structure but he's put his own original take on it. Dont really have to defend myself but Im 17, dont take myself to seriously, <3 lyf
@outrightrocker I listened to that song all the time years ago. I like the White Stripes. I'm a guitar player myself, and as a musician I'm not just concerned with ONE type of music i.e. blues but all types. You're clearly the type of person who could watch a man play a guitar with a piece of dogshit and say that man is incredible because no one else is doing that, despite the fact that his music isn't as good as Jeff Healey's. Insulting a dead blind man is no way to provoke interestingreactions
@outrightrocker However you feel about Jeff Healey, I just don't think it is necessary to express such a crude and disrespectful point of view. He was a great guitarist and did more with his life than you will ever fucking do... You're a very shallow person to judge music on how an artist looks while performing.
i will never ever forget the momment when i saw this particular segment on that "Sunday Night" program, cheers! x0]

@MrAlvinlapp Lol I didnt need your life story, I obviously touched a nerve.

@outrightrocker: I imagine you are 25 years old or younger...lol Maybe not chronologically, but mentally and emotionally definitely. Speaking of someone hitting their head, please understand that it's not your fault that someone dropped you on your melon when you were a baby...lmao

@MrAlvinlapp Wtf, did you even read your comment? Stupidity oozes from every word.

You sir are a moron.

ok wow really 6 people dislike this, a blind man whaling on a guitar... I wonder if they were deaf?
therev79 1 year ago
Being from Canada, I've seen Jeff many times and actually had the pleasure of meeting the man in Edmonton... chance meeting but lasted a few minutes, I play guitar and Fender and I broke the ice with a guitar player question... one of the nicest dudes I ever met... so very humble and sincere
billyboycott 1 year ago
he never saw the light when he performed this song but damn he sure plays like he did
DennChooch 1 year ago 22
Its ironic that Jeff sings a song about "seeing the light" when he is blind.
HAHAHAHA.
Also it was cool until he stood up and looked like a total mong shaking his head around like a down syndrome.
Oh yeah and I was the guy who disliked this video 5 times so suck on that, you guys must be blind because you dont think the dancing was stupid you have to agree this guy is a massive spazz.

@outrightrocker
Youre a disrespectful piece of shit.
fudgecool 1 year ago
@fudgecool Sorry but it's just like watching a freakshow, no way I could ever take him seriously with his head being whiplashed back and forth like he's in a car accident.
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@outrightrocker It's not like he's ever known what he looks like when he performs that would have been kinda hard. Not to mention he was just really into the music just like any real musician would be. And when a man could play like that in his shoes they're not in any way a SPAZZ so lay off!
nantz7831 1 year ago
@nantz7831 Yeah sure in a live recording just listening to the sound is great hes good at playing the guitar, but dont let his twisted way of playing the guitar and your sympathy for him detract from the quality of the music. This song has no originality atall, it is THE standard blues song structure and his tone and style of playing sounds like every blues player going apart from Jack white, bb king, srv etc. So yeah listening to it I'd be like "decent unoriginal guitarist" but watching is LOL.
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@outrightrocker You`re a tool mate, how about we all see how good YOU are at being an `actual` musician and a friggin blind one at that! You`re full of wind so i reckon the bagpipes`d suit you to a tee! Its a real shame people like you waste so much good oxygen on this planet.
himmy842 1 year ago
@himmy842 Just because I dont do what he does doess't mean I cant have a value opinion on him. Look face it when you see him shaking his head back and forth like dieing baby having an epileptic fit dont you just want to chunder? And the music makes me feel ill too, its so boring and unoriginal. If you want original blues go listen to Jack White. Also atleast Jack doesnt bounce his head around like a brain damaged down syndrome. I hate Jeff because h died by hitting head on a wall unintentionally
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@outrightrocker You're the one with damaged brain...
w0rnd0wn 1 year ago
@outrightrocker You know what dude, I'm happy that insensitive assholes like you lead miserable loveless lives. I don't even hate you for your comments because I'm sure your life sucks. Jeff Healey was an amazing man and I bet the only time you feel like a man is when you jack off to porn, imagining yourself with a woman you can never, ever hope to be with.
Grimgator 1 year ago
@Grimgator Firstly, yes I was really harsh about Jeff, but you should have noticed I was half joking to get a reaction. I wanted people to reply and hear thier reasons for loving Jeff, wanted to hear thier musical knownledge and whether they could think for themselves. The outcome wasnt suprising. Basically everyone said something along the lines of "he's blind, I'd like to see you do that", so basically Im allowed no opinion if im worse at something. Also the root of the "jealousy" tended to..
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@outrightrocker And Jack White is cool and all... but hes a horrible singer, a decent guitar player at best. I just watched It Might Get Loud which featured him, and he's an incredibly shallow musician. He's got nothing on Jeff Healey, and you've got nothing on Jack White. So go on fantasizing about him
Grimgator 1 year ago
@Grimgator be linked to my lack of a girlfriend etc or my lack of outgoingness. And yes atleast you've given reasons to your arguement but if you strip away the bullshit your just another clueless sheep. I mean if there was no video would you still listen to a mediocre singing blues musician? Your allowing yourself to be "blinded" by his gimmicky way of playing the guitar. There is no denying that Jeff was technically great at playing guitar, but as music goes the quality is very poor. Here is..
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@outrightrocker Maybe when you get older you'll learn that the right way to provoke debates and reactions is by presenting valid arguments. The very fact that you thought you had to insult someone to do it shows your immaturity.
Grimgator 1 year ago
@Grimgator =) carry on playing your boring cover's of 5 minute to learn chord songs (laziness?) and listening to music which doesnt challenge you or make you think in anyway. Jeff Healey is easy listening and he knows it pahahaha.
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@Grimgator ...saying that I applaud you for being able to enjoy the easy listening, painful watching combo. Everytime I go on this page to reply to you my mouse darts towards the pause button before I hear or (god forbid) watch this trainwreck of a performance. The Jeff Healey Band is where creativity goes to die.
Will be listening to Fleetwood Mac, Clutch, any Jack White bands, Muse perhaps, QOTSA, Them Crooked Vultures, Arctic Monkeys, and anything else which is differenent + good. xxx
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@outrightrocker you know what I applaud YOU for? Being able to listen to your own voice for all these years. Holy fuck. I would have killed myself 10 times over by the time I was your age (what, 14? 12?). I'm not even going to make fun of Jack White - why bother? You're much easier to make fun of. And so what if my songs I cover took 5 minutes to learn? That's longer than you'll ever last with a woman.
Grimgator 1 year ago
@Grimgator 5 reasons how to you know your an idiot.
1. You play "I know you are but what am I" for example starting your arguement with exact same sentence.
2. You say "I would have killed myself If I were you" in an arguement.
3.You suck off Jeff Healy's dead unoriginal corpse.
4. You get angry with a youtube comment.
5. You think if people differ in opinion they must be sexually frustrated.
Wow you passed with flying colours....your a supreme idiot!!! (and probably christian)
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@Grimgator the Jack White fanboy train. He is the only person revolutionising blues rock right now and imo was much more interesting than either the edge or Jimmy page. listen to this /watch?v=RPeuFt749l8 and tell me he sucks. Its raw, pure blues and his style of playing is unique even if he hasnt the best playing technique. Yes underneath its just the blues structure but he's put his own original take on it. Dont really have to defend myself but Im 17, dont take myself to seriously, <3 lyf
outrightrocker 1 year ago
@outrightrocker I listened to that song all the time years ago. I like the White Stripes. I'm a guitar player myself, and as a musician I'm not just concerned with ONE type of music i.e. blues but all types. You're clearly the type of person who could watch a man play a guitar with a piece of dogshit and say that man is incredible because no one else is doing that, despite the fact that his music isn't as good as Jeff Healey's. Insulting a dead blind man is no way to provoke interestingreactions
Grimgator 1 year ago
@outrightrocker However you feel about Jeff Healey, I just don't think it is necessary to express such a crude and disrespectful point of view. He was a great guitarist and did more with his life than you will ever fucking do... You're a very shallow person to judge music on how an artist looks while performing.
