@kotebattibawrot no it goes faster than that as far as I know. This one's the V10 though, which could go faster than 250, but gets stopped electronically at 250,
@EbonixD ..because they only had a smaller Diesel for the newer generation at that time, he went back to an Audi A8 with a V8 Diesel - fine car, but boooring! That was a few years ago, and a new Phaeton is on order again - it's just a V6 Diesel, but it's a great engine, and it should be just fine. What's telling is that they didn't change an iota in the cockpit design, because it was so beautiful to begin with :)
@EbonixD it was the V10, which sadly, they don't make anymore. What a dream engine...sounds kinda like one of the old Riva boats in idle. And powerful like a bull, yet economical.
@gerritbot ahh nice coz this car is amazing and i agree that its a pitty that theyve stopped with the v10 phaetons ..... well thank anyways and nice vid !
@EbonixD :) thanks, and I wish my dad had kept it, even if to put it in a pedestal in the garden. It felt like it was forged off a huge lump of steel (and wood, and leather..)
hard to gauge exactly, but I've driven them all, and they're all very quiet at speed. Suffice to say that the Phaeton is designed as a real long-distance cruiser, and it feels very quiet & at ease at high speeds.
it's very economical, as it has a large, torque-heavy diesel engine...at that speed, it gets about 11l/100km, about 22MPG. If you go a little slower, it's much better than that even. Not bad for a heavy car.
yeah im from germany and there are only like 3 or 4 in my city (one is ours) i think the problem is that the car does not look as "big" as a bmw 7 or an s mercedes
and people who spend that much money on a car always want a big car
In Europe the Phaeton actually is available with two V6 engines: A 3.2 V6 petrol and 3.0 V6 turbo diesel.
If you look carefully at 0:05 and 0:32 of the video, you will see the tachometer is limited at 6.000 Rpm. I think the Phaeton in the video is the 3.0 V6 TDI.
Either that or it could be the 5.0 V10 TDI, though.
wow this car def is silently cruising at high speeds. The only car that fat americans cant understand as high quality. oh well...i guess u cant win 'em all
So what we drove with our Phaeton W12 280 Km/h...

ist it true that the phaeton is quieter than the merc s-class and 7 series? With what would you compare the noise level inside at 200km/h?

you make one error with this velocity and you die

I think it's the 3.0 V6 TDI model.
JELH 3 years ago
no. it's either a V8 or a W12 model. Phaeton does not come with V6.
