I look at this video and i can only feel for the hawk!
He was just doing what he was created to do....its nature's way....infact the natural thing would have been for the hawk to eat the other bird. How would we humans like it if everytime we went to eat a steak, someone pulled it away at the last second....wouldnt you get just a little pissed?
@Mikeanglo well the thing is...i dont like the idea of pets or zoo's because we can try to domesticate an animal all we want but its still a beast of instinct. Why do you think killer whales turn on thier sea-world trainers or pit bulls and dalmations attacking thier owners? It's because animals belong outside in the wild, not in a house.....or a zoo....its like jail to them.....IM NOT AN ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVIST...I LOVE STEAK...IM just saiyan!
@ManofChrist101 While I tend to agree to an extent about zoos...I don't feel that way about pets. The domestication of wolves that produced the common dog over many generations, breeding out aggressive behaviors with each new generation, was a pivotal part of our natural history at a time when we were hunter gatherers.
Domesticated animals aren't just there for fun; many of them are actually useful...especially dogs.
@Mikeanglo i do agree that animals can be useful in certain situations like hearding or hunting, or even protection.....i just think that most of the time ppl go too far and try to place human social expectations on animals
@Dtraincity945 thats what you believe,,,,i respect your right to believe in what you want....but at the same time i do believe in a clear distinction between man and animal.....nothing against you ...we just have different definitions of human....so lets respectfully agree to disagree
Brilliant save for the girl. She was probably being teared apart by both the hawk's incredibly sharp talons on her neck and the parrot's massive beak snapping at her from shock, but doesnt fail to use herself as shield to keep her birds safe.
@TheJboogie314 Cause you're a careless human being that shows no care for any living organism because you think it is inferior to you and humans... fucking idiot.
@cheeriosinabowl you should hate the idiots that try and force a bird of prey to ignore instincts and live peacefully with something it would normally kill... thats like yelling at a cat for eating a mouse
I wonder if anybody tried to help her...........or just sat there screaming like little bitches. She wasn't even screaming and a bird was clawing her head. While this was happening she also managed to protect the Cockatoo. I just don't like videos where people sit there screaming.
@IcyHot311 - I've thought about this before while watching free flight bird shows in Australia. In my mind, I'd jump the barrier, bring the birds wings down and hold its body under my arm the same way my Grandfather taught me how to hold a chook, unclench the talons and hold the legs in the same hand that holds the bird while calling for someone to bring a blindfold to cover the birds eyes.
In reality, I'd probably be as useful as a stunned mullet. I doubt I would even get over the barrier.
@verticalsmurf yeah, not to mention youd look liek some kinda idiot bird super hero or something.... but u know thats just me, birds are like reptiles, only posses basic instinct and not higher cognitive function such as problem solving... reasoning...etc i dunno how someone thot they could have bird of prey in the same area and nothing would happen LOL its not like how u can train the dog to leave the cat alone
@duranls1 PS: she didn't crushed the cockatoo, the cockatoo panic and I think their feathers are trimmed so they don't fly away, but the cockatoo tried to fly away, damn Hawks here I hate them so much, Eagles are majestic, hawks are Jackasses
Cockatoos are highly intelligent birds, and arguably self aware. People who own them usually develop the same kind of bond you'd have with a human child. It's perfectly understandable that she'd protect it the way she did.
@7871wonderlandbob she didnt crush the cockatoo she was shielding it from the hawk to protect and shes a very brave person for shielding the cockatoo and taking a dive hit off a hawk
@NYtassu You're right. That's what makes children so precious. Then, complexities after complexities; topography of faces changes as adulthood creeps in. Then the angelic aura leaves the faces for good.
What REALLY happened to scooter though? Looks like he was bent pretty hard from the zoo keeper. I wonder if she actually broke scooters neck? It would be understandable considering the situation. I just get bothered when shows like this hide what really could have happened.

What a good bird owner for protecting that poor little cockatoo I hope that know they will keep that box closed until the poor cockatoo is away. One of the reasons I get concerned watching mixed bird show. Poor lady Harris's Hawks are powerful hunters able to take on something as large as a Rabbit or Rattlesnake.
She's good.... that's actually the only way she could save him. The harris couldn't hurt her much, just a few scratches and ripped skin, but the cockatoo would be dead in an instant. Same as any other bird.
I protected my buzzard this way too when other buzzard attacked him and it wasn't that exciting and dangerous as they present it in the vid :D
@blissnes0 :D :D omg they are not so good in killing people and since this was just a display bird they are not used to hunt...she couldn't get ripped an artirey out of her neck or arm because she's too big for the bird and her veins and vital organs are hidden for the talons.. it's a myth birds attack eyes they have no reason for it.Human is like a piece of wood to harrises. seriously, this is not so bad they just make fuss around it. If I was in "mortal danger" everytime this happenes.. LOL :D
@Aoife211 Actually your wrong, the Harris was going for the Cockatoo, its intentions were to kill it, as the lady tried to shelter the Cockatoo from the Harris the Harris landed on her, it was very possible for the Harris to do what i said, not intentionally trying to injure the lady but as it couldn't strike at the Cockatoo it very well could of injured the lady.
@blissnes0 Exactly! That's what I meant... and actually she did the very right thing because if the harris hit the cockaatoo, it'd be dead almost for sure or with so many injuries that it couldn't survive. On the other hand, when you cover something from the harris, he just lands on you and he's confused. Few scratches on your back, it hurts but he can't kill you. even if he hit your neck, his feet are too small to hit artery... he'd have to be very lucky to hit it and he'd have to want to hit it
I had red-tailed hawk attempt to take my barn owl off my glove while doing a demonstration. The red tail was another one of our birds that tore his jesses. I did the exact same thing, and got a few holes in the skin on my head as a result. It's a natural reaction to protect something you care about, be it human or otherwise! Once the harris realized that didn't have the cockatoo, it would have backed off, not continue on to attack her eyes. Especially since it's one of their own birds.
@comandermalander456 omg such haters!!! what's wrong with you? like I said, no harris hawk could kill a person... there's a big disproportion between human body and his body even when his talons are able to kill smaller prey. There's no nature in it, it's just silly. you can't get killed this way unless you'd stand there and wanted to get killed. And I didn't say anything about this being nature.
@comandermalander456 I wouldn't get killed by a wild animal because I dont do stupid shit like lock tigers in a 6x8 cell for 5 years and try to pet them. im not talking about humans. Im saying bird of prey vs bird that gets preyed upon - let them do it even if it isn't scripted (in this case). that would make it even more interesting and real. Besides if she would have let the cockatoo get it she could have played it off as part of the show instead of embarassing herself.
@bonelessBob Well i don't mind if a animal gets killed for food, but this bird is a famous bird and is part of a act, i don't think it deserves to be killed if it's being helped in a zoo.
She did a noble thing protecting her bird like that, I don't see how it is embarrassing at all. The hawk was acting on instinct, true, but that doesn't mean you let it do whatever it wants. It's a bear's instinct to invade your house for food, but you won't let it..
Anybody who loves or works with cockatoos has tremendous affection for them and knows that hawks will prey on them. They develop a very close personal bond and their first instinct will always be to protect them like a baby. I would have done things no differently.
@kingjayapala oh man i deffinately agree with this, but not with just cockatoos, if you love animals in general, but when your a bird owner, i think theres alot more affection for a bird~ :)

@Aoife211 Fuck your an idiot, That bird could of easily ripped a vital artirey in her arm or neck, not to mention her eyes, Dumbass..
blissnes0 11 months ago
@blissnes0 :D :D omg they are not so good in killing people and since this was just a display bird they are not used to hunt...she couldn't get ripped an artirey out of her neck or arm because she's too big for the bird and her veins and vital organs are hidden for the talons.. it's a myth birds attack eyes they have no reason for it.Human is like a piece of wood to harrises. seriously, this is not so bad they just make fuss around it. If I was in "mortal danger" everytime this happenes.. LOL :D
Aoife211 11 months ago
@Aoife211 Actually your wrong, the Harris was going for the Cockatoo, its intentions were to kill it, as the lady tried to shelter the Cockatoo from the Harris the Harris landed on her, it was very possible for the Harris to do what i said, not intentionally trying to injure the lady but as it couldn't strike at the Cockatoo it very well could of injured the lady.
blissnes0 11 months ago
@blissnes0 Exactly! That's what I meant... and actually she did the very right thing because if the harris hit the cockaatoo, it'd be dead almost for sure or with so many injuries that it couldn't survive. On the other hand, when you cover something from the harris, he just lands on you and he's confused. Few scratches on your back, it hurts but he can't kill you. even if he hit your neck, his feet are too small to hit artery... he'd have to be very lucky to hit it and he'd have to want to hit it

@blissnes0 and I forget to mention, go and insult someone else you DICK.... if you can't behave, don't post comments.

Especially since it's one of their own birds.

she should have just gave him the cockatoo and played it as part of the show. I hate her for shielding the cockatoo with her body. Its nature bitch
bonelessBob 11 months ago
@bonelessBob We should let you get killed by a wild animal, i'd hate anyone who would help you, it's nature right?
comandermalander456 11 months ago
@comandermalander456 omg such haters!!! what's wrong with you? like I said, no harris hawk could kill a person... there's a big disproportion between human body and his body even when his talons are able to kill smaller prey. There's no nature in it, it's just silly. you can't get killed this way unless you'd stand there and wanted to get killed. And I didn't say anything about this being nature.
Aoife211 11 months ago
@comandermalander456 I wouldn't get killed by a wild animal because I dont do stupid shit like lock tigers in a 6x8 cell for 5 years and try to pet them. im not talking about humans. Im saying bird of prey vs bird that gets preyed upon - let them do it even if it isn't scripted (in this case). that would make it even more interesting and real. Besides if she would have let the cockatoo get it she could have played it off as part of the show instead of embarassing herself.
bonelessBob 11 months ago
@bonelessBob Well i don't mind if a animal gets killed for food, but this bird is a famous bird and is part of a act, i don't think it deserves to be killed if it's being helped in a zoo.
comandermalander456 11 months ago
@bonelessBob

I would have done things no differently.
kingjayapala 1 year ago 47
@kingjayapala oh man i deffinately agree with this, but not with just cockatoos, if you love animals in general, but when your a bird owner, i think theres alot more affection for a bird~ :)
