I have been in the market looking for something to improve the audio from my Sony LCD TV, I don't really have the option for a dedicated surround sound setup due to te shape of my sitting room. Watching this video has really helped out a lot, nice review davomrmac thanks.
Thanks for the objective review. I had never heard of a "sound bar" before today and was curious as to just what one is. Your review answered my questions!
so you can't control the volume with your regular TV remote? even if I have a sharp TV? I just don't want to have multiple remotes if I don't have to.
Soundbars are so cool...I myself have a small and simple home theatre / gaming setup made of an LG 32LE5300 1080p LED HDTV a PS3 SLIM 120GB and a PS3 Sounbar surround system. You can check the review video inside my channel. I connected the soundbar with an optical cable so it's a digital sound either dobly digital or DTS and even more options like LPCM and DOLBY Pro Logic II...
Sharp is absolute junk. Four years ago I purchased a Sharp LCD from Crutchfield. Took it out of the box, set it up on the stand and plugged it in. Turned it on...the screen appeared for two seconds and went to black. Sent it back and will never buy a Sharp product again.
BTW, the Sony sound bars are one hell of a lot better than this one. Who the fuck still uses RCA jacks? Sony uses HDMI...not a dead technology.
Errrrr, because this is a basic analogue soundbar (notice the price?) and is designed to be plugged simply into the analogue out of your TV? Analogue jacks is not a dead technology at all so I don't know where that bizarre idea comes from. How do you think sound gets to your speakers?
@dadsbabypu Lol you sure got unlucky! My family has owned over twenty Sharp TVs (including my grandparents, we have 7 LCDs right now) and never had a single problem.
I have been reading up on Sharps audio products - I have noticed both the soundbars and iPod docks have a technology called HDSS. Not much talk about it. It seems like a speaker technology which ables such a high quality sound from such small enclosures. Do you know more about that? Great review btw.
I hear these Sharp audio products, soundbar and ipod dock, have a technology called HDSS - some speaker technology. Can you tell us more on that? Is that how one can get that high quality sound from small enclosures?
Thanks for the review, it covered everything I wanted to know and see. Got this off of Dell for $109 US dollars so I don't think I can wrong for that price and this product has some great reviews.
hey dave have you seen that new sony pc with windows 7 its touchscreen its about £1300 my dad runs a sony center and i went to go and see it its is beautiful easy to use you should go and check it out
But these things are really helpful for people who might not afford or want a proper 2.1 setup with floor speakers and a bass. But I would still go for the "classic" 2.1 system. Or 5.1 which is the optimal for your TV, PC or what ever kinda device you want sound from. Becasue you get better sound, no doubt, as loong as you compare with in same price class and you can switch from 5.1 to 2.1 when ever you want.
Good and informational video. Well done muchacho.
