  • Najlepszy=the best!

  • @anetaszym84 did he say suck my dick

  • One of the best for sure

  • So because he can cuss, act macho, hold his head down and cry, then tell a chick to suck his dick, he's the best actor? Give me a break. I wish I could be in hollywood because I would blow all these fakes out of the water.

  • No.

  • @russcottt I would like to know how you can watch a clip like this and not think this man is truly an amazing actor. I'm just curious, what's you're idea of a great actor?

  • what the fuck question? of course he is the best actor.

  • Yes, the greatest.

  • why isn't his performance in mystic river here? that is one of his best along with milk.

  • @kr15rox

The part in Carlitos way blew me socks off, that should be here to!

But I'm grateful this is here, where Penn lovers from around the globe unite

With love from New Zealand Sean. You wonderful American you!!!!!!!!!

  • yes i feel he is far and away the best american actor i have ever seen.

  • is there anyone in hollywood that doesn't try to make our military look like villains? hollywood filmmakers' notion of heroism is to make 'harrowing' movies like this, althewhile jealous of the real heroism our soldiers embody, so what do they do about it? plattoon, full metal jacket, apocolypse now, etc where whitey looks bad and the minorities look saintly. that's what they do about it.

  • cool story, bro

  • those movies you mention... they talk about the horrors of war and how it changes people. we do terrible things when the circumstances allow us to do so.

at first, a soldier may kill for a reason, but if he do it long enough, he wont remenber the reason at all...

  • you completely and predictably ducked my point.

  • You do know this film was a depiction of an actual event.

  • of all actual events to depict of our military, hollywood chooses this?

  • Why blame Hollywood?

Why not blame the guy(played poorly by Fox) for writing the book of his personal experiences in the first place?

If he'd kept his mouth shut, no-one else would have known anything.

  • why blame hollywood? cuz they emphasize the negative.

  • I agree with your general point, but the Vietnam films that you list were all part of the genre that depicted the chaos of 'Nam. If you want to see heroism just pick up any WWII film. However, in my opinion, some of those films put our (white) soldiers in such a heroic light that we forget our allies (and minorities) played a role, too. Hamburger Hill is your best bet for a somewhat balanced film - and check out the book.

  • he's good..really genuine..but brando's the real deal..all these actors are inspired by him..

  • Hell no!

    NO SHIRT

    NO SHOES

    NO DICE!

I am SAM, MISTIC DRIVER or DEAD MAn.....

  • LOLOLOOLOOOOL

  • he's a great actor but he aint better than day lewis,de niro, pacino and brando

  • he's up there though

  • true

  • OUI, OUI, OUI, c'est le meilleure acteur !

    <3

  • oh jesus! i forgot Daniel Day-Lewis!

They are the best actors! Daniel and Philip.

    kkthxagainandbyebye

  • Actually the best actor is Philip Seymour Hoffman. No doubts about that.

  • he is among the top 5 working today along with DDL, Crowe, Depp and the last spot is up for grabs with Leo, Norton, Spacey and co. vying.

  • Jeff Bridges, Al Pacino, Robert Deniro, Will Smith, Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Plummer, Matt Damon, and Jodie Foster would be my additions to that list. I agree entirely with the aforementioned minus Leo (I don't care for him much).

Damn I need to see I am Sam.

  • Leo can of grows on you, if you haven't you should see Catch me if you can, its on of the few roles that he could handle. Its hard to watch him play adult roles because he looks like he is 18 years old. Damon is becoming the most versatile among his generation, he is definetly the 5th spot. The list I made where just consisting of actors under 60, if not I would have had O'Toole, and Jack. Will doesn't do much to spread his wings, he seems content with less demanding blockbusters.

  • Catch Me If You Can is also one of those great movies where the casting was just prime and the story excellent - not to mention it's two great actors I left out, Hanks and Walken. But Leo is just that, tolerable. I like him in the role because he is a kid playing an adult role about a kid playing an adult role, so it works.

Will Smith can do anything. He, like Damon, is becoming one of those power actors of his generation, able to do whatever the call is. He carried I Am Legend.

  • The scene where Will looks for his dog inside of the completely dark bank (hive) is not only extremely hard to pull off but so well done you have to give him credit.

And again, Leo for me is kind of boring, what Smith is to you. Leo was good in Catch, and I guess Titanic, but Blood Diamond, with his fake accent, and Body of Lies, with his beard, just turns me away from him. My favorite role of his was in Gilbert Grape, where he plays a child with severe autism I believe.

  • yeah both of those movies did seem out place for him, but his accent in BD was praised by the locals. The thing I don't like about Smith is he picks movies where the surrounding events more important than the character himself, and just like the most actors from the Golden Age, he seems to be playing slight variations of the same character. He is a good actor, but unless in can diversify from his save-the-world mentality, he cannot be a great actor.

  • No, he is not. William Fichtner is.

    kkthxbye

  • i don't know if he's the best, but he's amazing for sure. i love the man !

  • yes he is. to me he is

  • THE best, no. One of the best, definitely.

  • After his portrayal of the stoned out Spicoli in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" he started to backslide as a serious actor. His range of emotions is very limited, and this gets boring real fast.

    He's an OK B-list actor.

  • your a fucking joke for saying that!

  • Yeah, he is the best, but my favorite is Daniel Day Lewis. Bill The Butcher rules!

  • goddamn right.

  • other than him supporting gay and whatever :D

God, ofcourse he is the BEST actor, didnt u guys see the video ?? :D

    thats my opinion anyway

  • great actor but shity commie politics actor should keep there noses out of politics

  • I love Sean Penn's performances, and I think he's probably the best actor of his generation... but others such as Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Marlon Brando, Daniel Day Lewis, Robert de Niro and Al Pacino ar far better than him. Whereas, I think Tom Hanks and Heath Ledger are really good actors, but both of them are overrated, the latter because of his death.

  • Matt Damon,? What! You forgot Daniel Day Lewis, Gary Oldman, Heath Ledger, and Dustin Hoffman. Jesus Christ people have some bad lists.

  • Matt Damon can be corny. Daniel Day Lewis FOR SURE! Gary Oldman GOOD, Heath Ledger GOOD, Hoffman GOOD.Everyone's getting too gay though they're all political and shit now, but yeah before Sean Penn went and turned gay and political, he was awesome

  • Idiot.

  • faggot

  • Yes he definetly is!

What's the name of the last clip? I would want to see that movie, the one where he's "retarded".

  • "I am Sam". This a great movie and Sean Penn is amazing! Je l'aime <3

  • He is a second rate "HACK ACTOR"

  • fuck you

  • Bend over and touch your toes....you know you like to do that.

  • But he did go full retard

  • Michael J Fox is obviously a superior actor. Just from this clip, it's more than clear that Sean is an overactor that is completely unrealistic. I think in a live stage, that's great, but in film, it's just not real enough. They're both better actors than me, though.

  • Mystic River and Milk.......I'm gonna have to go with great actor

  • If Sean Penn wins his second oscar. Then you have to compare him to Dustin Hoffman,Jack Nickolson,Tom Hanks, and Daniel Day Lewis.

  • And Marlon Brando!!!

  • Don't forget Kevin Spacey, Robert De Niro, and Al Pacino.

  • Yes.

  • sean penn is probably the greatest actor of his generation and definitely in league with the greatest actors of all time. he's also a great director. i agree about gary oldman as well (above). . it's rare to find actors with such amazing depth and chameleon like capabilities. i really hope "the assissination of richard nixon" is represented here as it's one of his all time greatest performances.

  • This comment is repeating itself

  • Gary Oldman and Sean Penn are so gifted and genuine.

  • cant forget how good Gary Oldman is man

  • Possibly one of the best still acting, however, having said that, no one and i meen NO ONE comes close to Marlon Brando......so natural

  • Ryan Gosling Sean Penn Jeff Bridges Harvey Keitel Clint Eastwood James Coburn Daniel Day-Lewis Philip Seymour Hoffman Gene Hackman Burt Lancaster Steve McQueen Peter Sellers Viggo Mortensen
  • nicely done except that Ryan Gosling, James Coburn, and Burt Lancaster are incorrect.

sometimes some of the others aren't correct either.

    who is?

  • I agree, nobody is perfect. But Coburn and Lancaster really were great actors. Watch Peckinpah's Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid and Jules Dassin's Brute Force.

  • I think Sean Penn, Edward Norton, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman are the best modern day actors.

Sean Penn might one of the best actors ever.

  • Ohhhhhhhhh and Daniel Day Lewis!

  • Another great actor is Ed Norton.

  • Sorry to say but Marlo brando is the best actor but very close, yes second place is Sean Peen :)

  • What movie is shown in the beginning? And the one starting at 4:02? If anyone can reply to this comment, or send me a message, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

  • The movie clip shown in the beginning is from "Casualties of War".

  • thank you!

  • at 4:02 it´s hurly burly! watch it!!!

  • Sean Penn is a brilliant actor! One of the best!

  • markos lezes is the best

  • he's one of em Al pacino is the best.

  • yes

  • yes ,he is the besttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i am a de niro fan

i like Sean Penn so much

and i can't call him the greatest but one of greatest

  • there is no such thing as the best actor..

the closest thing to come to the best actor is daniel day-lewis and marlon brando..

  • that would make them the best actors. your thinking of perfect. and the 2 best actors are sean penn and daniel day lewis not marlon brando.

  • marlon brando revolutionized film acting and made popular the type of acting that sean penn and daniel day lewis do, so if u like these two actors you have to appreciate brando. i personally believe that brando is just as great if not greater than penn and lewis.

  • ok how about this, sean penn is the best emotional actor

  • 0:01 John C.Reilly & John Leguizamo?

  • what film is this???

  • Casualties of War - a film released in 1989.

  • I changed my mind, Gene Hackman is the best actor ever.

  • Yes, Sean Penn is the best actor ever. Even guys like De Niro, Pacino, Eastwood, Holden and Brando have nothing against Sean Penn. Penn is a legend.

  • Holden?.."Wooden" William Holden was crap, even back then. And I wouldn'rate him higher than Brando or even De Niro. Yes he's done some shit work lately but his 70s/80s work is still impressive...And as good as Penn is , he still needs a few more great performances under his belt to confirm his greatness

  • lmao clint eastwood isnt a good actor at all

  • What are you, a moron? Clint Eastwood is a fucking legend.

  • YES

  • Ed Norton & Sean Penn Older Brother Complex

  • of this generation?..YES..since his "comeback" from his acting hiatus in 94 with carlito's way ,penn's been on a roll since then:dead man walking, mystic river, i am sam, assassination of richard nixon & one of his very best(and least seen) performances: Woody Allen's "sweet and lowdown", which he was nominated for an oscar..& he still takes chances as an actor as well, now playing gay activist harvey milk in gus van sandt's movie. His closest peer,ed norton hasn't had the same impact as of late

  • Yes, he is.

  • yes.

    yes.

    yes he is.

  • for me the best actors are: sean penn, tim robbins, sir ian mckellen and Denzel Washington

  • In no order:

    Denzel Washington

    Edward Norton

    Sean Penn

    (let the debates begin)

  • Of course he is, he's Sean "Fucking" Penn! Can't wait for Milk to come out. I think he'll win another Oscar, well, I have my fingers crossed.

  • great actor, great man!

  • As well as Tim Roth!

  • Yes, he is! As well as Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Jack Nikolson.

  • The last movie is just GREAT!!!!!

    It is named

    i am sam?

  • what movies are the scenes from, speacially the last one?

  • casualties of war, dead man walking, hurly burly, i am sam.

  • HELl YA!

  • I saw the real nun,who visited this guy on death row. She was not an emotional person. She was about God's work.Loving people was her job.

  • YES!

  • def one of the best.

  • i think he is among the "Method acting" school of thought followers. that is why he is best freind with poeple like Jack Nicholson and dennis hooper. Mind you that these guys dont have many freinds in hollywood.

  • I laughed my ass of at this clip . In the part with meg ryan , what is he doing , crying , vomiting , jerking off...lol...

  • Thanks for the comment. The movie that clip is from is HurlyBurly. He is all coked up, drunk and begging Meg Ryan for a blow job. Then, for some reason after she says no he keeps holding it throughout the conversation...LOL! I personally think it's his best work. You should check the movie out sometime.

  • i too feel Hurly is his best yet. forgetting all the soul, power, and nuance he puts into the part of Eddie, the nuts and bolts of craft alone in dealing w/ this part is a fucking monster. so dense, it's too much for most people to get through or penetrate the meanings of. plus it's easily misinterpreted and Penn does an excellent job of explaining the play/movie in the extras on the dvd. it's some of the best commentary i've heard on any dvd. ryan has two of my favorite lines in this clip.

  • yes he is

  • "best?" that's not the word i'd use. i'd say 2nd to none, absolutely. i'd also say my favorite, far and away. in my mind, becoming hyperbolic by showering Penn w/ too many superlatives is an impossibility. as much as you can dish out, he deserves. hurlyburly alone cements his standing in the history of acting. literally mindboggling. brilliant, committed, and motivated - Penn is a hero.

  • Absolutely
