  • beautiful song! :D

  • aa=å

  • Silje, I was told I have no way to verify this), was a very young aspiring singer when she approached American Jazz Guitarist Pat Metheny after a concert in Norway. Supposedly, she told him "I have written words to one of your songs. I'd like to give it to you as a Gift. I so love your Music." To which Metheny replied "I will accept it, but only if you will sing it for me." Once he heard the words and her voice, he was shocked at the level of talent Silje had. The rest is History...

  • could you send it to me, please ??! alex.ladyfashiondu92@hotmail.fr

  • I was looking for a song that would inspire me to write about the waltz and this is great! I've never heard of Silje Nergaard, but this song fits perfectly. Where is she--or they--from? Do you know?

    Thanks for posting this!

  • Silly- yeh Ner-gard..

    この声良いですね、心がホットします。

  • omg i've been searchin this song for te whole entire time! I bought this jazz compilation cassete when i was in the elemantary school. and her song was my fav.....oh gosh.. thanks you for loading!

  • wow... me and my girlfriend/dance partner are taking a 3 month break, and this song really got to me. It truly explains the two of us. I met her at a dance, and now I can't even imagine dancing without her ='( I have never heard of SIlje Nergaard, but this song is great.

"They play on the strings of my heart - and make me remember how lovers part"... that is so real

  • What a beautiful song!

Anyone knows how to pronounce her name?

  • Silly- yeh Ner-gard..

    Am i right?

  • More like Sil-ye :P

  • @aquapixy double a is pronounced "o" in Norwegian... so it would so "sil-ye ner-gort"

  • @shoenning double a is prounounced more like or in English & there is no t at the end - the best English equivalent I can give is that Silje is very like Celia & Nergaard like Ne'er (as in ne'er do well) gor

  • @norskbrit Thank you for the tip ! I still have lots to learn !

  • @aquapixy double a is pronounced "o" in Norwegian... so it would so "sil-ye ner-gort"

  • @aquapixy No

  • @aquapixy yeah , we actually have thesAme name .. you pronounce it as Sil-Ye :))

  • @aquapixy WRONG

  • @aquapixy Close :-) The double 'a' in her surname is the old way of spelling the scandinavian letter Å. It is pronounced somewhat like the o in 'online' or 'aw' in 'awesome'. Also, the 'e' would be pronounced very much like the e in 'near'.

    My guess is "Near-g(aw)rd"

I'm not sure though about the last 'd' though - in danish, it would be silent, but in norwegian, consonants are mostly pronounced.

  • @aquapixy Two a's in norwegian is å, a difficult sound to make for non-norwegians :)

  • @fifi87820 See 'Be still my heart'.

  • simply wonderful! thank you.

  • what a wonderful song! thank you aquapixy for sharing it, I loved it ;-)
