It seems like everyone got to enjoy Hanks money but himself. He really worked hard. When I read about all the touring he had to do: all those miles by car with that bad back. And then he had that miserable operation on his back which made it worse. You would drink too. Audrey wasn't a bad person but she seemed to lack compassion. I mean she could never be an alchohol counselort thats for sure
I've shook Hanks hand in 1948 at the Louisiana Hay Ride Hank and Audrey both had alcohol breath. Audrey tried to keep Hank alive throught Hank Jr. which about put the boy to an early grave. This story miss the point about Audrey. I saw Hank and Audrey on stage a few times and I saw the whole problem and even my wife said Audrey wasn't right for Hank. Unless the story teller was around when Hank was still alive, don't add lies to your story.
The closest she ever came was trying to make JR into his dad. Even JR told her to kiss a@# and he started drinking. The video depicts "Poor Miss Audrey” Truth of the Matter is she lead two men to drinking…Hank and JR…Put that in your movie maker and Psycho-analyze it. Give someone a computer and they become Dr. Phil...Self Proclaimed Genius...NOT...LOL, what a JOKE!!
. She begged him to put her in the show; she couldn’t carry a note and sounded like two cats fighting. Audrey was jealous of Hank and the women who loved him, so she put him through hell. So, not only did Hank have severe spinal pain, but had severe a#@ pain in a wife. She tried to run the show and couldn't.
I laugh at this video. The narrator sounds like she put away a couple bottles of Jack herself, perhaps, road hard and put up wet by some Drifting Cowboys. She makes no Logical sense, totally misconstrues the truth about the Life of Hank Williams and No Doubt...Audrey’s. Anyone who follows the career of Hank, knew that Audrey was a Conniving female dog (B%$&*). She thought that she was going to get her hands on Hank’s money and didn’t.
The girl who put together this JOKE of a video sounds about 22 years old. Grow up honey. He grew up in a time you or I will NEVER have to contemplate. He grew up in poverty, with an absent father and he did the best he could. Considering that he had undiagnosed case of Spina Bifida, which casued him constant pain its no surprise he was a drunk. Do you even know how ignorant, moronic and mind numbingly judgmental you seem? I feel sad for you. Clearly, you're so young, you have never suffered.
and encouraged me to sing my song. Hank said he wrote all his own songs and I knew this wasn't true. But I wasn't about to call him a liar after he had been so courteous. He could have said get the hell out of here, kid. So whatever other faults he had he was a class act as far as I'm concerned. And a 12 year old kid was left with a positive lifetime memory of a country legend.
Hank was not perfect but I dont think he was the sob portrayed by many. I met Hank Williams when I was only 12 years old. I had gone to see his show to pitch a song I had written. I was invited to go into a back room by his current wife. There Hank sat leaning back at a desk strumming his guitar. 3 others present. One I think was Merle Kilgore. I think I recall there was a beer on the desk but he didn't drink from it while I was there. He was nothing but courteous and supportive and encouraged
.....The Hank Williams mystique......He suffered physical pain with his back and God only knows how much inside...(Elvis evidently had his own inner hell, too) Others like James Dean for instance....Lefty Frizzell .... some of the well-known ones...I'm about Bocephus' age.....I cried when Hank died...I was about six.....saw Hank Jr. at Cobo Hall in Detroit in 1969....He had his own demons, too, Life can have a lot pain in it.....I hope we all have it better when this mess is over, Audrey, too.
AWFUL. Honey, until you live the life he did, unless you were actually THERE, you have NO room to talk. Sounds like you have some of your own relationship issues that you've decided to put into this. He nor Audrey were perfect, they were just human beings, doing the best they could. I hope you burn in hell for making this.
People still write songs about how great a man Hank was because he WAS a great man- his story is so tragic, and as some one else said, everyone but him cashed in on his fame, his story, especially 'poor Audrey'. Some of his sadder songs were in reaction to what he considered at times an unreturned love for Audrey. Did he have problems? Yes. So did Audrey, so does everyone. That doesn't change the fact that he was -is- great. "Poor Audrey", who got rich off of his name while he rotted? Poor Hank.
Could u b anymore disrespectfull u dont see us country folks gon around posten videos of to pock or niggers like that sayn how they was a bunch of gang bangers show some damn respecy
Hank's music is powerfully important to me today, especially in light of a lot of recent heartache, but I still recognize the fact that he was not a good man. The guy was a motherfucker, to tell you the truth. And I like learning about him because as much as I relate to his music, I sometimes feel myself drifting toward his negative traits too, and I can do something to avoid becoming like him.
Who is this god damn bitch talking shit about the great talented Hank Williams!? I bet this fucking bitch doesn't have half the talent Hank did! And as for his wife, She couldn't sing, and she drove him to drink! And FYI, if we had more people as talented as hank in the music buisness, we would not have to put up with this shitty justin Bieber bull shit out today, so watch your mouth. Go suck a dick
Talk about trying to make something out of nothing. No wonder you got somany neg. responses. Let us enjoy this music with out your cra**. Hank wrote these songs because there was an Audrey, Period!!!! . No Audrey (Just as she was with all her faults)then No GREAT MUSIC, Plain and Simple.
just type in the search box Hank Williams Document and you'll learn of what a kind man he was. Being a drunk is still thought of as a character flaw by those of us who reject political correctness. Big deal, everyone knows he drank and there were drugs. People loved him then and still do now regardless of his personal short comings. The man was a poet and is an American icon.
What is "an old fashioned drunk?" Any difference from a "new fashioned drunk?"
My favorite "Poor" Audrey story is when Hank's "Cheatin' Heart" came out and made it big, especially after he died, she was convinced he was talking about himself and not her! She had to be the only one to so interpret that song.
I like what you have done here. There usually is "the other side" of the story. I believe one thing we can all agree on is that without Audrey there would NOT be Hank Williams as we have come to worship him.
@Kjensful You said: "Without Audrey there would not be Hank Williams as we have come to worship him". The man is loved for his poetic words and simple, straight forward approach to song writing and performing.
Nobody can be everything. Hank was a great, great singer and performer, and songwriter of sob songs. Why would anyone expect him to be a great philosopher, or painter??? He is an inspiration to singers from Ray Charles to George Jones to ??? the list is endless. He brought much pleasure to millions and will continue to do that for at least another 30 years.... if the world lasts that long.
hank williams was it.hank williams is it.probably the most original artist in the 20th century.audrey was a cunt hank should've beaten her every wakin second. this narrorator can die slow with her feminist gay loving idealistic views.
fuck you dumb bitch, nothing against women but fuck you hank was great singer songwriter and cared alot bout that women you wouldnt say poor audrey if you was there first hand. thanks
look this narrator is a piece of shit. why do you think hank sung the blues. he wasn't the problem in that relationship. he drank because he was depressed. he did soo much and set the foundation for so many types of music. so ya you really need to get your shit straight.
Who is narrating? Seriously? Why don't you look into Hank's life with Audrey a little more thoroughly before glorifying the pushy, flirtatious little bimbo. I mean, I get that it wasn't easy being married to Hank. But, don't you think all of the cars and fur coats might just have aided 'poor Audrey' the least little bit. By all accounts, at the very least she enjoyed his cash. At the worst, she pushed him into a life someone of his nature couldn't handle.
Hank 3 is the biggest joke. Hes a wanna be country singer and he'll never be. AND FUCK AUDREY! SHE JUST WANTED TO MAKE MONEY OF HANK! HANK WILLIAMS DIDNT HAVE A DADDY TO GUIDE HIM AND HIS MOMMA COULD GIVE LESS A CRAP, PERSONALLY I DONT BLAME HIM FOR BECOMING A DRUNK. HANK NO MATTER WHAT FOLKS SAY ABOUT YOU TO PUT YOU DOWN I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL BEING THE SORE THUMB. GOD BLESS YOU
audrey was a bitch and my man hank was unfortunatley dependent on everything in his life including that gutter whore bitch who couldnt sing for shit.hopefully she died slow and painfully
Nice to hear from the "other Camp" ! Hank was no angel..neither was Miss Audrey! How nice to hear something other than what the ones who want to make money of him want you to hear!!
I think whomever this woman is that's speaking she knows next to nothing about Hank Williams and his music nor of Audrey. Too much fame too soon for such a young man who had health problems from a younger age ruled his life. It's sad that Audrey's ambition for him - and for herself, too, made her push too hard. They were already rich and it's plain from listening to his old friends that Hank just wanted to play his music. There's as much sympathy for him today as there is praise. No worship .
Like Hank was a bad person? Hank was a genius...and its not like she had to stick with him. She didn't ever even have to be with her. He actually loved her..and came back to her, but she refused and told him to marry Billie Jean. She is also the one who pushed Hank Jr. to be "the next Hank Williams". She pushed and pushed and pushed that ol' boy just so she could score a few pennies. If I could say a thing or two about her...it would be that she used Hank Sr. to get recognized. Poor Hank.
Hank and Audreys relationship is the stuff of legend. That includes both the good and bad of it. But can ya imagine a world without Hanks music (don't know if I'd like that). I heard it described once as pure hillbilly poetry. I guess that's close enough of a description.
hank had spina bifida and the doctors prescribed him morphene wich messed him up, so he started drinking to ease the pain, audrey is a dirty slut and she did not deserve him
So Hank was a drunk, big deal. Maybe if he had some understanding and love he wouldnt have been. You know it takes two to tangle. Who are we to judge Hank or anyone else? Sounds like a popularity campaigne for Audrey. Gee was she the worlds gift to men? Give me a break.
A most unlikely success he was, considering his poor health and environment growing up. No wonder she had to push him to success, he knew what the future was coming with it.
ive read extensive biographies on hank.he was a big fuck up.he fucked up about everything in his life.i like the fact that someone actually sees him for what he truly was as a person.yes he made great music but he was a dope shooting drunk maniac.he carried loaded pistols everywhere he went.....now for your poor audrey statement.what kind of bullshit feel sorry for me fuckin pro woman rehtoric r u fuckin talkin about.she was a maniac sober, who later became a drunk and died from complications
..when he could, hank liked to have his share of fun. it's a good thing for hank that you are not his judge, almost sounds like you don't think he was even worth saving. nobody's perfect, & i don't see any of your (good) works...
They each had character flaws like we all do. I'm just glad they got together without that we couldn't have Hank III, so I guess Jr was good for something too.
Hank was Hank, and Audrey was Audrey. Everyone knows Audrey saw a fortune in Hank and hooked him quick and drove him hard. But, so did his mother. Hank was like most artists, true artists, a go with the flow kinda guy. He use to play poker across the way from the Opry with my Grandfather. So before you go getting gritty one way or another about Hank or Audrey know this. Without Audrey Hank Williams would never have been a star.
People forget to mention that the drinking can be blamed on his deformed spine (spinal bifida)which gave him unbearable pain for his whole life. Audrey was a drunk herself, "a lyin' cheatin' whore" in Hank's own words. And this video is so inaccurate, Hank was loved by everybody.
it's true i think that his fans always did love him but people in country music were only as charmed as the sure money he was making them. i don't think there was much love involved in firing him from the grand old opry. thanks for posting - it's really interesting how much hank really is still important to people.
Nice job, but did you know that she aborted a child without Hanks knowledge? My folks knew them and I have some of his personal belongings. Bottom line only the country music fans win this one. Again nice voice and good point.
i remember reading about the abortion somewhere. since neither hank nor audreay kept journals that anybody knew of, i don't guess we'll ever really understand what all went on between them. it's easy to think hank's songs were like a journal but, like any effective writer, who knows where fact ended and fiction began in the interest of a good song. i guess that's part of what makes them so interesting all this time later - we'll never know. thanks for posting.
Audrey forgot Hank's shortcomings after his death as well, cashing in on his fame for the rest of her life. Everyone who threw him away cashed in, except him, who conveniently cashed out. As with most of us the result of Hank & Audrey's lives were of both of their making. I wouldn't say poor Hank but I wouldn't say poor Audrey either.
True enough. I guess I don't think anyone has forgotten that Audrey cashed in on Hank but nobody much talks about what it must have been like to live with him and that maybe she felt justified in cashing in because she put up with him (well, mostly, until he shot at her). Some people also seem to think that Hank would have never been so successful if Audrey and Lillie hadn't pushed him. You're right though in that nobody much comes out looking good.
@ljanemoyer That's just it though... this isn't a movie we're talking about... it's complex reality... I like this video a great dealup until it starts to rest unevenly upon the imposition of a kinda rigid thesis... the fact is that he made the music, so we care about him... the circumstances sort of don't matter... the recordings will live on regardless of who is cashing in, or of exactly how they came to be.

..when he could, hank liked to have his share of fun. it's a good thing for hank that you are not his judge, almost sounds like you don't think he was even worth saving. nobody's perfect, & i don't see any of your (good) works...

Well I suppose the brightest star can't shine without the dark of night.

Beautifully narrated. Just the right amount of poignancy in your voice. Nicely done.
They were both truly fascinating characters.
