Yes, finally the 2nd decent double decker in the aviation industry. A380 wasn't made for sucess, it's just Airbus's CEO his dream / fantasy. Boeing did better than Airbus in the latter's home territory and having it's A380 wing clipped while taxing for it's false hope flight. SIA should had chose to fly this first not A380. It just wouldn't last.
What a graceful looking machine. Makes the A380 look like a pig by comparison, as good an aircraft as it is. I hope that Boeing gets more orders for the 747-8i.
Remember that the original 737s had a very slow start to their career and Boeing nearly cancelled the program. We all see how that turned out, however! Here's hoping that the 747-8i enjoys similar successes.
Airbus got over $60 billion and sales. A China company is selling 200-400 Jets. Time for Boeing to build a better jet or the same thing that happen to the car industry will happen to them. Act fast before its too late!
Boeing/Airbus rivalries aside, and I am a huge A380 fan, the 747-8i is just simply a more elegant and beautiful design, rendered even more so through the design changes. Rather than classic I would call it timeless. It has already proven itself on the world stage. I hope it can live up to its targeted efficiency claims. I could watch this video over and over again and never get bored with it.
Very amusing how ignorant people can be, comparing A380 with the 747-800i. And the Airbus vs Boeing discussion is really pointless, it's like comparing Mercedes-Benz with BMW. Personally i'm more of an Boeing-man, but not that it matters.
@tk291100 New generation 747. Boeing could've named it a 797 and be a completely new plane, like what Aibus did with the A330, basically being a next gen A300.
PS: I like the 380 and the 748i. One note though...the 380 has very wide window spacing with extremely deep window wells. One gets the impression of viewing through a turret...very claustrophobic.
Actually the 747-8i is cleaner, quieter, and more economical, because they use the new GEnx engines. And the 747 is and always will be the Queen of the Skies. I don't like the A380 because when you fly with it, it feels like your in a sardinecan.
@Tottiboy190 Firstly, your data on the 747 is incorrect. The GEnx engines are currently outside their target delta for efficiency ratings by 2-3%. Boeing are said to be working on this. Even if they achieve their targets for efficiency, the CASM rating is still lower than that of the A380. Lufthansa, who will be operating both aircraft has stated that their A380s will be more efficient than their 747-8Is, based on configurations for each. The iconic 747 is past its "sell by" date. A380 is better
@Pvjinflight go suck on yur mommy tit, im in the aviation industry and i love all planes especially boeing, and i appreciate them, unlike you, a wanna be, whom is outside looking in. why dont you go on a airbus page and complain instead of on a boeing page,if you dont like boeing why you on here a boeing video.remember in the past three years since airbus as been selling alot of planes, its been all airbus planes crashing. god rest the souls of those on the air france a330 from rio to paris.
@char1eston Shut up fat brainless yank, in last 3 years Boeing planes have crashed more every year too. And im not some kind of only Airbus fan that likes only Airbus planes, I like many Boeing ones too but its fun to argue with some stupid americans that are ignorant enough to hate everything made outside USA, including Airbus planes.
Then they behave like you, tell false information about how Airbus has crashed more when in reality every year Boeings have crashed more.
I'm in Paris right now for a study abroad program and I'm definitely taking this oportunity to go to the Paris air show this year can't wait for the big bird in person!!
@vroom2000 Assembled in the USA. Parts come from all around the world and the majority from China. Do some research before you make a fool of yourself.
@sugardaddylifestylE BOEING BUILDS IT BETTER,BIGGER, SAFER. #1PLANE MAKER AND AEROSPACE COMPANY IN THE WORLD. BOEING HAS RULED AVIATION AND WILL ALWAYS LEAD NEW TECH AND SKIES.
@alialimali Bullshit. A380 is bigger, A380 is better, Boeing and Airbus have pretty much equal safety record but I prefer Airbus computer systems that prevent pilot errors. Airbus is bigger company, they sold more planes last year than Boeing did and they just got historys biggest order of planes, 180 A320 series yesterday.
@Pvjinflight thats why af477 crashed you moron before you speak for your small european country know the facts: BOEING builds it BETTER SAFER and BIGGER. It has always been this way and it will always be the case. Just try to keep up, we'll bury you in paris like we are doing now. you can not compete with Boeing you will only follow.
@alialimali You moron AF447 crashed because of pitot tube failure which allowed them to freeze, and those pitot tubes were not made by Airbus. Its AFs fault that they didnt change them soon enough altough that error was known, and also pilots didnt do standard procedures to keep airspeed without indicator.
Boeing has less than 200 orders in Paris airshow when Airbus has over 600, and Airbus sold more planes last year. Cry yankee cry, all facts are against you.
@Pvjinflight airbus has a LOOOOOOONG way to go to catch up with boeing. dont get all big headed coz of the -8 series slow start, the 757 was like this too, and then orders started to rocket up. its gonna happen this time too, im sure. on the other hand, airbus new planes are failures. like the a350? WTF!!! its like an exact copy of the 787!! and look how many errors there were with the a380? boeing is still waaaay better than airbus
@maxwellus000123 Lol of course A350 looks little like Boeing 787 because planes are designed to be very aerodynamics, and because of that new planes oftn look kind of same. And only those who know nothing about aviation say that its exact copy, because from inside its completely different, and also all parts are different from Boeing 787 so it cant be a copy. Go learn what copy means stupid american.
This is called competition, not copying. And airlines clearly prefer Airbus so they won.
@maxwellus000123 There has been only one error with A380, and it was Rolls Royces fault with engines, not Airbus fault at all. Dont you remember how one Boeing 787 engine exploded some time ago when tested?
At least Airbus plane has never crashed because of design error, when two Boeing 737´s have crashed because of it.
Airbus is leading international market, airlines are buying more Airbus, and Airbus planes have more advanced technology, A320 is about 10 years older than 737NG and better.
@maxwellus000123 Hello, tell me why Boeing keep beating up by Airbus for selling far less jet in Le Bourget? See A320 and NEO orders, they do have large orders from airlines all over the world. Far enough to beat 737 as the most popular jet in the world. Also Boeing all new narrow body are still under debate even their CEO keep supporting his speech that a whole new jet will build instead of re-engine 737.
@maxwellus000123 AIRBUS - 730 aiplanes worth 72 billions dollars. BOEING - 142 airplanes worth 22 billions dollars. Paris air show 2011 AIRBUS RULES. BOEING new 747i8 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL NEW? AN OLD PIECE OF SHIT LOL. AIRBUS WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY BETTER THAN OLD BOEING LOL
@tk291100 thats because 787 and 747-8 are not yet in service until the end of fall. wait till 2012. boeing will kill airbus, because by then 787 and 747-8 will be fully operational.
@char1eston An American airline company just order 460 planes from both Boeing and AIRBUS,guess who got the biggest part of the order? AIRBUS, yes you read that well 260 planes for AIRBUS and 200 for Boeing. AIRBUS RULES.
This plane has a better look than the more industrial A380 design. This -8I seems much more graceful from all aspects-- takeoff thru landing. Je ne sais quoi. As one example, the A380 seems to lumber down the runway as if it needs more power, then slowly elevates verses a more powerful projected takeoff of 747's.
@Techno04335 I hope Boeing can finally convince Thai Airways to order it, they failed a few times before. But now they want to order 30+ widebody aircraft for 2017-2020 and the 747-8i is perfect for it since they're fasing out most 747-400's.
