@ikill4money2 Have you being living under a rock? The 4870 is an old GPU, it was released all the way back in 2008......... The 4870 plays most games, but I've switched to a GTX260 which easily plays Crysis better than a 4870 and is faster for most games too. As for replying to my comment, you should read the others before posting things..
it's actually one of the best shooters. Not only for the graphics. The environment, the characters, the weapons, the suit. They all combine to make a wonderful sci fi shooter.Anyway...I have an Nvidia 9600 GT ,Quad Core Processor at 2.4 GHz and 4 GB of ram and it runs on highest graphics wih high fps...
doesnt matter if you play crisys with 15 fps or with 100 fps its still a shitty shooter with a few funny gadgets and ok graphics. Ive played games with worse graphics which i enjoyed 100 times better
Course it will, it works with any cpu, it's not something you check that works with a GPU, you just have to make sure your motherboard suppoer PCI-E which it does and should be fine as long as it is PCI-E 1.1 or above, unsure if PCI-E 1.0 works.
Your CPU WILL be a bottleneck though, don't try playing GTA IV lol.
Oh what the hell, I doubt that, since I get 31 fps average on very high with no AA. Go check out performance reviews and you'll see that it's near impossible to get 45 fps on very high with 4x AA
does the frame rate drop if you se anti allian to 8x? becuase i have 2 hd4870 (crossfire), 8gb ram 1066Mhz, 3.0 ghz quad core and it still wont run "smooth" on (all) very high and 8x AA.
Thanks for doing that for me mate. See i think if AA is at X8 and all is on medium it all looks good, with good frame rate's too. I was just wondering if that is possible with that card.
Please do me a favour, can you benchmark Crysis at 1200x1050 all on medium with 2x AA on your 4870. Thanks in advanced. I'm looking to upgrade and these are the specs I would be happy to play it at.
Hey people can please someone tell me what exact specs will run crysis good with a HD4870 in it , because i was thinking of a q6600. and 4GB OCZ 1066mhz. please respond and tell me what exact specs will run crysis good:D
Nah man I've just got an Accelero S1 to cool this thing and a powerball, saving my money now I'm moving for college soon and need to be careful with my money, hopefully I'll get a job and upgrade the CPU/Mobo/Ram when Nahalem is out.
Where did I say this Benchmark was done very high? Its ALL HIGH, not VERY HIGH.
Also almost every effect of DX10 Very High can be done in DX9 and I use CFG's for playing the game, not benchmarking that give better than very high quality or equal to very high.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious captain obvious, the reason it says high here is because it is high, what planet where you born on? Not earth thats for sure.
Now with ATIs aloha gamma correction And ssga pixel technology adjusting (used by the latest sony HDLCDs) the ssga is inculed only in the new 4800 series.you can double your pixels up tp 24x and keep the pixel pitch under 26mm.

gamma correction is a method that keeps the added pixels close to the original pixels that they are added to

There is a chance it will be playable at that res, but 16xAA I will give a try but it appears to default to 4xAA or 2xAA here and does with alot of other ATi people so may have to wait for new drivers.
Anti aliasing actually means: adding more pixels to your screen.
But the quality of those added pixels differs from one aa method to another.
The best aa technolgy availabe now is the super sample aa.Which is supported by the radeon 3000 and 4000 series.
Then comes the adaptive tent aa which is an ms aa with 32/64 bit of color depth for added pixels vs 16/32 bits of colors delivered with the added pixels.
Now nvidia use a very cheap anti aliasing technology which is the covergae scene aa.

Great vid shows how well a 4870 runs crysis for a £170 GPU, awesome. Will to point out the GTX do run a REAL 16x AA even at high res, but they are designed to do that with extra cost. 4870 XF should run 4x AA at 1600no issue.

Great vid shows how well a 4870 runs crysis for a £170 GPU, awesome. Will to point out the GTX do run a REAL 16x AA even at high res, but they are designed to do that with extra cost. 4870 XF should run 4x AA at 1600no issue.
