wow,I did't know that so may people love the w123 like myself.I have 3 w123 langs (1982,83,and 85) a Rolls Royce,a Toyota & xj40 Jagaur. My wife did not like old cars until she was forced to drive the w123. We now use the old w123s much more then the other 3 cars & if we have to travel out of our city, we always take one of the w123. They truely are an easy,comfy car to drive & as ours are all Langs we always receive great comments.If anyone is wanting a usable classic,I think a w123 is perfect
hey yo w123 boy, ive got a 77 240d and i'm wondering what i could do to improve performance, i love the car because it is so sleek and nice, but i have the automatic version, and the top speed and acceleration are absolutely horrid, i need more get up and go, what should i do?

I'm not sure about the speed specifics of mercedes 200 (1979).
but anyway, at my car's best I can get up to 170 Km/h. the acceleration is really identical to to a Daweo Lanos 1500CC of the 2000s especially from 50:140!

i'm from costa rica w123boy, i have an 83' 230E manual transmision and with 305000kms on the clock! still running great even with years of bad driving in the destroyed roads in my country. This car is perfect for climbing hills cause it's got a rare closed-ratio transmision, this car is unique! i love it!

Sieht man heute auf die Straße wieviele Autos in dem alter sieht man heute noch? Fast keine mehr, liegt auch daran das die Qualität dieser Autos über jeden Zweifel erhaben ist. Als 5 jähriger fuhr ich zum ersten mal mit einem W123 200D mit, seitdem wollte ich auch einen.

Just read here also about the Diesels. A shame ... But here in Germany the old Diesels are also banned in more and more cities and towns. But I heard for cars older than 30 years they can get an exception.
True ... but it is more about the dust the Diesel produces ... they should just produce more filters for more models like as they did years ago when we needed to get catalysators for the other engines. It is just a shame to ban old cars ... I think in some years the quantity of oldtimers will be much lower than already now.
Dazu muß es aber auch erstmal 30 Jahre alt werden ... wenn du es genau siehst ist ein 20 Jahre altes Auto auch schon alt. Versuche das bei den Bedingungen noch 10 Jahre weiter zu fahren ... kaum vorstellbar, insbesondere bei Diesel ist die Kfz-Steuer horrend hoch und meist nichtmal mehr die rote Feinstaubplakette erreichbar. Wer das Auto da nicht bei einem Schuppen zwischenlagern kann wird das Auto verwerten lassen (Schrottpresse oder ab nach Osteuropa od. Afrika).
klar... aber ich denke wir brauchen über die unkompetenz unseres staates keine zeit verlieren. klar ist ein auto nach 20 jahren schon fast ein oldtimer. und das mit den dieseln ist natürlich auch so ein extremfall, bei dem der staat mit den steuern völlig übertreibt!
i know what u mean, maybe because of "environmental" issues. but i dnt think so, to be more accurate, my country allows diesels for public and military transportation only, private cars cant be diesels here, again, its a shame...
oh yeah i know what you mean now. i knew that some countries only allowed diesel for commercial reasons but i didn't think anyone totally banned diesel altogether.

Amazing!!! I've seen recently w123 300D for sale for 12000 euro. The car stood at the dealers all life and had 15000 km on the clock. If I only had the cash..

I had a 1978 w123 300D, and now I have a 1984 w123 200 with 483.000 km, and still works nicely. I love it. Best car ever...!

my father is in a w123 club.. he has still seen some w123 under 10000km even a s123 m110 amg 217 hp with 30.000km!! unforunately very exotic...
