  • @cammicakeswashere - :-) Thanks!!! haha, I like how you came up with that one. :-D

  • @MeckyMeck I got it from Hans :)

  • whoa - that's pretty scarey!

    keep up the great moves

  • Hi Mike, I have been actually doing the taebo bootcamp series exercises that has alot of horsestances and some exercises legs that make the muscles burn but good for shaping up and strength.

  • @Tanama55 - That stuff is pretty good. A lot of squats and leg work also helps your core. :-)

  • Heh good song choice: Tiesto- Traffic

Your bo technique is damn good. Mine needs work. :/

  • Thanks :-) I appreciate the compliments.........I bet you can do some good stuff. Keep at it and maybe if you want, you can update me with your progress with a video of your form. ^_^ I like critiquing and being critiqued. Most of the time, it helps with improvements.

  • @LazyGoliath - Hope your doing better with the bo staff. I think its been a year since you commented. :-)

  • nice job meck. right now I do alot of my practice at home. I finally figured out how to stay down in a horse stance longer like over 5 min. If I do something with my hands or weapons to music it takes my mind off my legs and I don't feel it until after.

  • Thanks for checking out my sutff...

Horse stance exercises are pretty awesome. Do you use any type of breathing techniques, or does the music completely take your mind off of the strain? With me, I just focus on my breathing...music does help though.

  • Actually I think I do a combination of the music, breathing and relaxation of my body because I work 2 jobs and I am physically exhausted and the only way I can do my exercises is ending up totally relaxing my whole body which does take the strain off the muscles. When I play the music it also helps me to figure out my length of time of which I am building up the endurance.

  • When I was training at the dojo I was goiing to school part time and working a full time job but the karate classes were the best and took my mind off the day. so now that I am back to working 2 jobs I have to get back to just total relaxation to that helps with endurance. I watched your video again and speed is what I am working on also with my moves

  • Last summer I was focused on losing 20lbs that I gained and did it in the few months by first biking hundreds of miles, doing aerobic kickboxing and then go to karate classes. I am truly amazed when you mentally take yourself to the next level how far you can actually go. This is also great for building up ones endurance. and Yes I do try to remember to breath lol.

  • now also looking back at my classes I did the best when I was extremely tired ready to fall asleep because then I had to mentally go beyond my physical limitations and with everything relaxed it was quite easy to do the lessons in class and also at a tournament. I was so tired once that I made up my mind then I would win the sparring match and sure enough I did, I just ended it (for points) yes I love the horse stance exercise too! Take care!!

  • @Tanama55 - Incredible story....:-) you too, take care. I wish you the best in all of your training

  • Amazing speed with absolutely no lack of accuracy! I guess you have a lot of practice ;-)

In my school we didn't learn any weapon forms yet. But with autumn our teachers will start a course of classic shaolin kungfu/wushu mostly hand forms and also weapons.

  • @pempern - thank you! Enjoy your trainings. Its always fun to learn new branches.

  • The next bruce lee right there!!!!!!

    ~Mary (Glenview Demo Team)

  • Thanks for the comments Mary. I appreciate it. :-) Yea, I think music and martial arts is a good mix. :-D So, how goes everything? Hope all is well.

  • omg!!! you are sooo good. i am mary (from GMAFDemoTeam) and my 2 favorite hobbies r martial arts and music!!!! ur sooo good and fastt.. Good job! :]]

  • wow!

  • :-)

  • that's so cool! i wanna learn how you do that!

  • You can do it! :-) All it takes is a little bit of practice. Pick up some basic moves and when your ready to go crazy, wear a helmet, so you dont knock your self out with the staff...lol...yes, it happened to me once...^_^v

  • Man that is awesome!!! you're so quick, looks incredible. You tried using fires sticks, I reckon you'd be able to make a few bucks at Fesitvals etc with those things... awesome!

  • Thank you very much for the comment. Much appreciated. I have used poi-balls and fire sticks before, and I can breath blow fire as well, but never have I thought about getting paid for it. :-P That might be a possibility for me to try out. Thanks for the input, friend.

  • fast =D !

  • :-) thanks.

  • that was very good, u do wushu?

  • Thank you very much. I have done a little wushu, but I have yet to learn the real fundamentals of it. I'll make it a point to learn it later on. It would be nice to master more styles.

  • so u like traditional martial arts like kung fu, muay boran, shotokan, jiujitsu and ninjitsu or athletic martial arts like kickboxing, mma, karate-kyokushinkai, judo, muay thai, shooto, vale tudo and brazillian jiu jitsu?

  • To tell you the truth, I love them all. Each style whether they are traditional or modern, they all play significant roles in martial arts history. I don't believe there is one exact style that is better than the other. Each style carries their own specialties.

  • i think the same, but my opinion's a little different, there r only 2 categories of martial arts which differ from each other, striking and grappling, striking being styles like karate, shaolin, tkd, muay thai, kickboxing etc and grappling being styles like jiujitsu, brazillian jiujitsu, judo and aikido, i think all striking styles r equal n all grappling styles r equal, and that the skill of a practitioner doesnt depend on his style, but on his own will, determination and how he trains

  • there r also hybrid styles which mix grappling and striking like vale tudo, shooto, mma, sambo, hapkido and wing chun

  • Wow, you know your stuff. thats awesome that there are people who appreciates the arts as much as you do.

Your absolutely right, the determination and will all plays a major role with how the outcome of being a spectacular martial artist. But we all know, that's only for the physical side. To be a well rounded martial artist, you have to keep a balance of the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of it.

  • holy cow thts really good,

if i gave ne advice at all it would be to just watch ur stances more and lock out a bit more too.

have you tried ne releases with the bo yet?

  • Thats for the tips. I'll be sure to keep that in mind. :-)

To answer your question, when I was a lot younger, I did a lot of releases, but I wasn't able to make it look strong, it was just flashy. So I haven't done much of those in a while. I still throw some here and there when I practice. :-)

  • Thanks for commenting on my video. Those were some pretty sweet staff moves!!
