I can feel like I can understand the reason behind his arrogant attitude in the beginning...He is painfully aware of his being a slave, and he's worked hard to achieve where he's at...It's kind of like he feels like he can't bear to feel like his life isn't worth living. So he puts worth into his life, despite being a slave, he makes himself important and valuable. A sort of delusion, I suppose. But it doesn't last long once he falls for Naevia :)

Blood And Sand: Crixus is an asshole after he gained the title of champion. He is as bad as the guys who made fun of him in the prequel season.

I like the character development of the show. We saw how Crixus went from a shy, almost scrawny guy that wanted to be a champion to finally becoming a champion..and a jerk off in season 1. We also got Naevia to calm him about.
