  • Thanks Sandra. I saw this video a while back and loved it. Really useful for the silk painting community. :-)

  • Classic!

  • Sandra, this was such a great video. thank you.

  • Thanks for sharing :0)

  • so helpful. Thank you. Im sewing silk the first time. Actually not realling sewing but altering a silk blouse i got from banana republic. Im not worrying too much about shrinking/ shampooing the silk but the thread and needle choice and using paper in between layers was definitely helpful. Thanks for the video

  • do you needd to use a different foot for satin material and can you use the same thread and needle as you used for silk ? I keep trying to sew and the material gets sucked into the machine or caught on the feed

  • Thanks for a great video! Good to hear that I'm not the only one washing silk with hair shampoo! I also wash wool with hair shampoo, and it works great. Instead of fabric softener, I usually use hair conditioner. Also works great. I just tried it years ago, since it just made sense to me to use a product meant for hair on animal hair fibers fabric, and ever since I have not wasted my money on expensive wool/silk detergents.I just buy a cheap generic brand that is of good quality, nothing fancy.

  • Thank you so much for all these great details! Very informative video :)

  • Thank you so much for this video :) I feel much more confident now. Thanks

  • I'm sewing with silk for he first time, and I'm sure this will save me alot of frustration, thanks alot...very helpful

  • Great tips! Silk is something I am just getting into.

  • Thank you!

Great tip on the color threated hair shampoo for washing.

I have a bleeding dark navy silk shantung that I got for a suit, but the color seams to stick to my hands as I touch it...I'm afraid it's going to color all my other clothes and my skin when wearing it...

Do you have any tips on how to get some of that paint out of the silk?
