@madamerotten Agreed!!! But this is a FUN kit to build for Beginners and at a later date we can get all Fancy over Circuit Improvements!!! Let's learn the Basics and THEN move on to more Advanced Improvements,,,,,,Isn't That What Learning about Electronics is all about??? We can take a simple concept(s) and proceed to a more advanced Level,
@madamerotten ALL My Projects use CMOS Chips or Transistors so I have more than Enough Current to power my little friends,,,,,Please try to understand that I agree with all your suggestions BUT this project serves my needs Quite Nicely!!! If I wanted a Lab Grade Power Supply I would have followed yours( as well as my) advice in the first place!!!!
@madamerotten I guess you're missing a Valid Point here,,,All I'm saying here is that this is a a great kit for a beginner to build ,and most beginners won't care the least bit about how many amps volts ohms joule or whatever spec you care to dish out. I've actually BUILT the Power Supply and it works Fine!!! For What I paid For( Around $6.00 ) It's a Nice Power Supply For It's money. If you Feel You can do better You Should offer your Engineering Skills To EngineeringShock,ca , I'm done!!
@madamerotten Great ideals you have here BUT this Power Supply would serve the needs of beginners who want to learn Electronics at a bargain price!!! As I said earlier I wanted a inexpensive simple fun to build power supply and Quite Frankly this takes care of my needs But if I wanted a Handy Dandy All Purpose Power Supply I would have followed and implemented all your improvement tips( which I knew already from my course I took) This is just a case of what you want or what you need!!
Just need pot and mosfet really though right? How do you hook up a pot to a mosfet without letting all the current go through the pot as well?

Do you sell versions of this that are already put together?

Would this regulate the input voltage also or will the input voltage also effect the output voltage and need to be adjusted by hand.
