I assume he is talking about CFC's and the ozone depletion. CFC's were developed in the 1930s, and 50 years later we were able to eat a massive hole in the ozone layer. The greenhouse effect is a proven fact, it is a fact that we are increasing greenhouse gasses to a level and at a rate which previously required major natural events, the only real question is the outcome. For that we have models which make predictions based on more data than you can possibly imagine.

What he means is that 1995 to present is not a long enough time period to be able to say whether there is warming and thus runs the risk of being a micro trend. The 95% percent confidence level is the defacto standard in much of research for statistical significance. If I recall correctly the actual number was around 93% confidence. 1980-present or 1880-present is a much better dataset for trends

@druidg hasnt the earth's climate been constantly changing from warm to hot since man could record it? the earth has been here for millions of years supposedly and it has taken care of itself and corrected any issues it has had, sure a few species have gone extinct as a result of the earth protecting itself poles shift temperatures drop, rise... its the whole idea of nature, I seriously doubt the severity of our so called impact on the earth not to say that we dont have an impact... but come on.
