  • Fucking Amazing!!! One of my favorite's. Just look at the emotion and attitude in his face. Song was written about the Viet Nam War and stands up still. Eddie did a great, great, great job with it. Fucking Amazing!!!

  • i put the challange to all that there is no greater song then this!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • awesome voice....where is our "big brother?" Fuckin bullshit..peace to you....respect our uniformed women and men...life is here in our now...lets make it better for our babies? We have a shitbox in front of us...lets take a bite and smoke a bowl for those who have passed before us.love me

  • I can't figure out who has the mandolin.

  • GE SMITH....from Saturday Night Live

  • huuuuh wow... can't come down

  • still such a relevant song

  • This is a fantastic version!

  • a very good version, the song suits his voice ..

  • i agree all versions of this song are amazing!!!!!!

  • i love this song! all versions

  • eddie is so beautiful. and that voice...

  • He's talkin' to my dad.

  • incredible. it is chilling to watch it.

  • Mmmm...I think Mr. Vedder is absolutely perfect right now, but anyways, that hair, jeez...anyways,... it's interesting to watch this version of "Masters of War", and then watch the more recent version on David Letterman. Truthfully, I fell in love with this man on the older version, but to see him sing the newer "version" just makes me love him more. Maybe the voice has subdued a bit, but the emotion is all there, baby.

  • I doubt if I have ever heard a song sung with such anger and disgust. Truly Eddie Vedder believes every single word that he is singing and thus he makes us all believe it too. Superb.

  • love hearing eddie sing this...chilling

  • iloved this entire album,Bob Dylans 50th anniversary album?? i cannot remember what the album title was?

  • The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration

  • eddie's signs during his singing are the shit!

  • Excellent cover of Bob Dylan's classic. I couldn't picture anyone else to do it. I'm also looking to put this song on my page at my space. Cause it's great! We need this type of protesting now more than ever. Thank you for posting! Also thank you Bob for writing this beautiful song and thank you Eddie for doing a great cover.

  • thanks

  • The guy is GE Smith, I believe it's GE. He was the old band leader on Saturday Night Live.

    Eddie's the man -sigh

  • i wasn't asking who the singer was...i was asking who the guy playing the ukelele was

obviously i know who eddie is

  • The old band leader from Saturday Night Live - I think his name is GE Smith (something like that).

    Ed's the best :)

  • that's a mandolin not a ukelele

  • After listening to this video

I had to put images to this music!

    Great Song and Performance!!

  • how can you ask who the singer is? you're stupid

  • Beautiful set of balls on you Ed.. Perfect.

  • Absolute perfection : music performance meets higher art form. This here is the standard for whoever wants to be a musician. Eddie's the highest standard. Thank you for inspiring us Ed

  • So very cool to see this LIVE when Eddie was so hot...one of my favorite tunes they did (originally done and written by Bob Dylan).

  • "..when he WAS so hot." ?? He is still a ravaging beauty. I think he peaked around '00 when he cut his hair a little and you could see his neck. On a less shallow note, this is what doing a cover is all about. What rock-n-roll is all about.

  • A truly intense and sobering performance from Eddie-the voice ,the man = perfection!Dig the jumper, very cute!

  • whos the singer! skyyoung sort yourself out!!!

  • ...wow its chilling to see this now...I'm surprised he hasnt added this to his repertoire given the relevance of Iraq..."All the $ you make will never buy back your soul..."

  • yeah who is that guy? anyone know?

  • singers name is Eddie Vedder from the band Pearl Jam... and the song is wrtitten by Bob Dylan.. not Eddie

  • Ha! Ha! Ha! great song, but who the hell is bowl cut! (go Mike!)

  • its g.e. smith from the snl band

  • yo anyone know where this is from?

  • some Bob Dylan tribute concert. Tom Petty was there, The guy from the Byrds was there, Tracy Chapman was there, Dylan himself, I think, was there too, plus others. And they all played Knockin on Heavens door at the end because it was famous around that time thanks to GNR (who werent there).

  • thanks!

  • This song is FANTASTIC-Especially sung by Eddie! George Bush is TWAT! i love you Pearl jam x x x

  • While your comment about Bush may be correct, this performance was done in 1992 when Clinton was in office. Vedder was not doing it then as a political commentary to what is going on in Iraq now. Just an FYI.

  • yes i know, thanks.

  • Somehow, I believe you know but that you didn't in your original post. Education is your friend.

  • Also what relevance has it whether someone is from the UK in regards to the war, I do believe there are UK troops there aswell as US troops, despite what im sure your press has told you it is not only the US who invaded and are occupying Iraq.

  • Matthewwk77 - When your country is asking you to take part in an invasion of a country half way round the world for dubious reasons then it has nothing to do with testicular fortitude when people protest it. Death is not a fate i would not wish on anyone, especially not soldiers from my country or another that are being sent to die in a country for what is now apparent, a lie.

  • Great version!!! George Bush is a damn war criminal. He needs to be impeached, then sent to world court to stand trial for his crimes. Then spend the rest of his life in prison.

  • What year is this from? Great songs.

  • amazing rendition of the classic

  • check out the SNL guy, doin his thing...nice!

  • Which one is the SNL guy.

  • Dubya this song is for you!!! And I sure hope too that you die soon!!!

  • goosebumps.. love the jumper ed.

  • Although I'm not a big fan of this style or melody of Pearl Jams music, I really connect and respect their lyrics. It's good to know groups like this are out there infusing what's right with art!

  • only 3 bands can change the world: R.E.M., Radionhead and PEARL JAM!

  • R.E.M and Pearl Jam I agree on.

This performance anyway, is so amazing. So inspiring. So cold, but still so warm. Thanks Eddie!

  • rage against the machine but they split = (

  • and now you know why I love this guy so much! Such emotion, such talent..

  • Thank you for this performance..it really shows what a whole generation feel in concern of polititians..pigs.

  • the other guy is the guitarist for snl

  • Powerful performance.

Say, where's the credits? This is from The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration in honor of Bob Dylan (1993).

  • This song more true today than ever

  • great lyrics, great song... fuck the us government

  • hey dylan if you don't like the us government get the fuck out.. I spent time in Afghanistan and Iraq among other places.. go there and let me know what you think.. you fuck

  • thats great you fucking hero, but im glad to have never been involved in war. you just added to the mess in iraq, wanker. i bet you have regrets having been there, or then again perhaps the nice pay packet you received made up for that

  • He is a poet you conservative cunt. I don't see what relevance a song written in 1961 has to Iraq and Afghanistan. The only job you are fit of is the armed services, too dumb for anything else.

If a person has a grievance with the government you tell them to leave. I hope you enjoy the next tax rise when the democrats get in.

  • the funny thing is, is that you liberal fucks don't have the testicular fortitude to do something for your country when it asks of you.. you John Lennon worshippers, with your long hair, just sit around on your thumbs smoking pot..

  • Moss you're not even from America and neither one of you have probably ever been out of your home towns.. but you think you have the whole world figured out.. real genious.. yeah I'm only fit for the Armed Services, that's why I have a degree and am working on another..

  • And Dylan I have no regrets for being there, shook more happy Iraqis hands than I can count who said they wanted us there.. And I don't know how you think I got a "nice pay packet" when I made $2,000 a month as an E5. Moss, you make no sense at all either, even if you did, you are from the U.K. and are only 19 so your opinion wouldn't matter

  • A typical neo-nazi republican.

  • I don't live in my home town, I have been to the USA and just because I am not from there does not mean I cannot comment on your country.

Testicular fortitude, hilarious. I have you know I am not liberal, I do not have long hair, the only reason I am fan of John Lennon is because of his music and the fact I am from Liverpool.

  • ok..so you served overseas. so now can you explain what you were fighting for?

  • This song fits so perfectly with what George Bush is doing today.

  • Totally agree

  • Eddie coming into his own, knowing better than to try and reinvent the wheel. Wonderful sharing, offering...

  • Ah, this is such an amazing cover.

The song is a classic, and it's performed perfectly. The anger wich it was written from is really captured, and it keeps the spirit of the song alive.

    Thanks for putting it out!

  • does this performance put shivers up and down anybody elses spine? voice of a generation.

  • AMAZING AS ALWAYS!!!!

  • The mandolin player looks like G. E. Smith. Not sure if it's him or not, but it looks like him.

    Eddie Vedder is amazing.

  • That is indeed G.E. Smith from the Saturday Night Live Band. He fronted the backup band that played with all the acts that night.

  • It is him.

  • hes the dude from the band from one of those talk shows

  • who's the guy on eddies right?

  • Mike Mcready

  • i saw this tribute to bob dylan many years ago when i really dug pearl jam and just love this. i had never heard the original version until recently... i regret saying this, but i like eddie's version better.

eerily, this totally applies now to our current leader of the united states.

    IMPEACHMENT!

  • wow, what a voice and what a song! amazing

  • I want him to be mine :P

  • i want his voice to be mine :D pls! :D

  • ...this song is the voice of the wuite and oppressed masses, the world over...

fuck the man and up with bob dylan and mr vedder...

  • simply amazing version...can anyone help me as to where and when this took place?

  • this was from the bob dylan tribute concert at madison square garden in 92 or 93...

this is the concert the sinead oconnor was unfairly boo-ed off of stage at..

  • It was for a Bob Dylan tribute concert. His performance took the show!

  • man, his voice is PERFECT for this song.

  • oh god haha i thought mike was some chick on the right hahahaha yeah anyways GREAT song, man those vocals are strong.

  • Great cover.

  • This song never seems to lose relevance...which is kind of disturbing. Great version, though.
