ok this is a series and starts friday 2nd october scifi channel in USA and tuesday 6th october sky1 UK its not a movie. I think the standard of cgi are a lot higher and yes the ship is an ancient one and yes that ship is the destination of the ninth chevron. \/ Star trek dosen't have a series anymore so this is basically like a continuation onto that because SYFY's viewers loved it when they showed the star trek next generation with Patrick Stewart amazing acting that no one can top. So it's natural that all syfy writers draw influence from star trek.

Not only is he old, but he has made so much money in his life with Star Gate and MacGyver, that he can be lazy, which everyone knows, when you get lazy and don't do much, you end up gaining weight from inactivity.  I haven't had a job in a year and I gained weight, because I'm not up and about, I'm just relaxing, but now I have a job and I'm starting to lose weight.

Stargate was on a Star Trek wannabe-trip at one stage, now it looks like BSG they want to emulate. Don't get me wrong, I do like the series and some of the more original episodes are fantastic, but most are thinly veiled rip-offs or lacklustre attempts of something that has already been done (often better) by someone else.

The main reason I'll watch this is to see Robert Carlyle the guy can do no wrong in my book. Utterly unforgettable in Cracker and when he played Hitler!

The trailer gives me the feeling that it's going to be nothing but drama. It looks exactly like BSG. 1:53-2:00 sounds like a clip straight from BSG. I didn't watch BSG in the first place because it had too much drama. Hoping this won't be the same. On a different note; the visuals do look amazing and the acting sure has gotten better. I will at least watch the first few episodes then decide to continue or not since I am a Stargate fan. Hoping this doesn't turn out to be shit. :P

Yeah, I didn't think it was gonna be that good either, but that's just cos it's a different style (or mood) to SG1 and SGA. But hopefully fans of both of those 5myself included) will be able to rid themselves of their preconceptions and prejudice and will enjoy the show as an independant entity, not a dodgy extension of what already exists.

Crazy awesome! It's good to see Stargate adding a few new elements to the series. Ture, many of the elements are similar to Voyager or Galactica, but with the Gate in the mix, it'll be an entirely new series!
