the thing about this movie, is that it makes a faulty point..there were never "takers" as the movie put it..it was all because of agriculture..before agriculture, there was only enough food for small tribes..so, if we did reproduce too much, nature would balance it out because there wouldn't be enough food..with the advent of agriculture, more people could survive, so, populations naturally increased..no one person or group decided to just start taking out of greed..it began out of necessity.
Einer der besten filme mit genialer besetzung, schade das es ihn bei mir bei mediamarkt nicht giebt... verdammt ich musste sogar bei den ausschnitten weinen !
I don't think I have even seen a greater, more profoundly moving, or profoundly true Hollywood movie in my life. Thanks for the upload which captures it all.
Human nature is what we"feel"to do,behavior, "is what we do".5bil,yrs.dead sun by then"WE" are out in space.may not use or need our bodies anymore,we become a thinking Energy Flow.I am small, live 99 yrs.Jupitor big, lives billions BUT I can think Jupitor can't.Stars can't,I AM the universe, and the universe is me.
Our sun is a yellow dwarf, it is a giant ball of hydrogen that is currently undergoing hydrogen fusion into helium, and will do so for the next 5bil years then it will inevitably die. I'm a small human who's existence can't even be a fraction of that, yet I know this, I'm aware of what I am and the magnification sun and all the wild blissful animals are not.
To all commentators, nothing I see by "living wild" can compare to being truly self aware.
this movie was quite awesome, it contains one of the most powerful, moving and disturbing scenes of any movie for me (the parts when dr powell remembers the gorilla hunters' attack in the jungle)
i am kinda wondering y the "ape man" can beat up and entire airpoert garrison of cops. but it was a good movie and i liked how he escaped from the window at the end
again , it,s good to know of someone else who feels like i do , jon quinns website is good to read up on , , hope your well and hope the sunrise is at its best
this story is based on daniel quinns novels, the ones i told you about,,,,,, ishmael , my ishmael, and the story of b , the books go so much more into depth , of , man,, animals, dominion,,,. try and find them online or the books to read , there is a web site for people who think like this to go to to be counted , search out daniel quinn auother
It wasn't until I realized that this movie is based on the book "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn that I became interested in watching it. It seems to have kept a lot of the themes.
Yah. I remember watching this as a kid. but I was too younge and indoctrinated to understand most of it. I have most of my life felt this way, but I suppressed it because i was "insane" to think like that.
This movie, just like ishmael is a good starting point.
But one must go farther than that. And actually try to change themselves, first mentally, then physically, and to help other in the process.
I will be changing everything when finished here. Just 1 year left, in the mean time i can start
this is the best zen movie of all time, if anyone wants to watch others i suggest you watch the following films, the last samurai, finding neverland, awakenings(another little known film which stars robin williams and robert de niro, bicentennial man and A I
this is a zen philosophy movie, and a briliant one at that, all about human nature and our need to control all around us and to take all we can even though we dont need it. the gorillas in the film depict how we used to be, before we became takers. how do we save the planet? easy, stop taking what you dont need and replace what you take. we are the only animal on the planet which kills each other for fun. some body please show this movie at the next un meeting!
i agree great comment.. but you should replace the word the takers.. for the sick people.. its the sick people that fuck this world.. they dont feel sorry for others.. its wrong in there brain.. they just dont get it.. because they never had love or something.. life is hard :(
@zenfox1979 Actually (and sorry for replying you two years later lol) we're not the only animals who kill for fun... Dolphins also kill/rape other sea creatures for fun..(fact)
@ShoutingParalized hi:) I am really interested in what you said about the dolphins. Is that true? I checked from the internet and I found some references, but none of them were certain about this. Do you know any references that I can check? Thanks :)
@tokaluuu I only read a few articles about it when I was bored. I dont remember the websites, sorry. Dolphins are weird, but maybe what I said is not true or something.
see with the agriculture revolution, it was thought that by planting food it will feed everyone, so they would not have to depend on the land or weather, they could feed the starving, but starving people do not plant food no more the drowning people start building lifeboats, surplus of food will increase the population , and will demand further surpluss the next year , where in nature, the local land suports the numbers, if not the numbers deline, plowing under more land only makes it worse,
and when man lived by the law of nature, there was not many of the problems there are today ,mental i,llness , stavation , achahol, suicide , depression ,yes eople fought but they did not seek out to destroy or cunsume there land or change there way of life , like in the book, it says , a lion will kill a gazel to eat , and while eats the other gazels still graze near the lion ,the lion is not going to kill one for the next day , nor is he going to claim all gazels as his,man does
well trying to change them does seem imosible , the fact that they have to face is that they must change or just like a plane unfit to fly is pushed off a cliff , it is in the air , and the ground is rushing u at them, and will one day crash, just like the aztex and the hohokem, one day there story will be forgotten too, the shame will be if the survivors start daown the same road
I am totally agree with u. Think of this: the society is in continues evolution and evolution doesn't always the right way! Look at all this hate from the world, look at all that discrimination, look at the human rights how are broken every minute...
also the second book " my ishmael" is as good or better , the third im reading now ,,, " the story of B " all three books are about the same theory, the one im reading now involves some one teaching the therory in europe , so the church gets fearful and sends a priest to find out if he is the anti-christ , it,s really good so far , the priest has become the mew student
you should read the book, the movies only hits on the topic of "dominion" and how man lived in harmony with nature and the world , man has been here 3 million years only since 8000bc did the aricultual revolution change the way he lived ,it started between the semenite herders and there neighbors ,and has never stoppped and it ongoing , the takers make it very plain , live like us, forget your past ( look at native americans) in this way only 2000 years later the world is dieing at mans feet
In my country isn't this book but what u said I already know from other books & from my own life. U can't stop these kind of behavior bcz we live in a dominated society! That is really S A D!
I think this movie was influenced by Ishmael the novel

Cuba Good Jr: Her demon looks like a small insect?
Prisoner: No, looks like Sigourney Weaver.
