the thing about this movie, is that it makes a faulty point..there were never "takers" as the movie put it..it was all because of agriculture..before agriculture, there was only enough food for small tribes..so, if we did reproduce too much, nature would balance it out because there wouldn't be enough food..with the advent of agriculture, more people could survive, so, populations naturally increased..no one person or group decided to just start taking out of greed..it began out of necessity.

Our sun is a yellow dwarf, it is a giant ball of hydrogen that is currently undergoing hydrogen fusion into helium, and will do so for the next 5bil years then it will inevitably die. I'm a small human who's existence can't even be a fraction of that, yet I know this, I'm aware of what I am and the magnification sun and all the wild blissful animals are not.

To all commentators, nothing I see by "living wild" can compare to being truly self aware.

It wasn't until I realized that this movie is based on the book "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn that I became interested in watching it. It seems to have kept a lot of the themes.

Yah. I remember watching this as a kid. but I was too younge and indoctrinated to understand most of it. I have most of my life felt this way, but I suppressed it because i was "insane" to think like that.

This movie, just like ishmael is a good starting point.

But one must go farther than that. And actually try to change themselves, first mentally, then physically, and to help other in the process.

I will be changing everything when finished here. Just 1 year left, in the mean time i can start

this is a zen philosophy movie, and a briliant one at that, all about human nature and our need to control all around us and to take all we can even though we dont need it. the gorillas in the film depict how we used to be, before we became takers. how do we save the planet? easy, stop taking what you dont need and replace what you take. we are the only animal on the planet which kills each other for fun. some body please show this movie at the next un meeting!

see with the agriculture revolution, it was thought that by planting food it will feed everyone, so they would not have to depend on the land or weather, they could feed the starving, but starving people do not plant food no more the drowning people start building lifeboats,surplus of food will increase the population , and will demand further surpluss the next year , where in nature, the local land suports the numbers, if not the numbers deline, plowing under more land only makes it worse,

you should read the book,the movies only hits on the topic of "dominion" and how man lived in harmony with nature and the world , man has been here 3 million years only since 8000bc did the aricultual revolution change the way he lived ,it started between the semenite herders and there neighbors ,and has never stoppped and it ongoing , the takers make it very plain , live like us, forget your past ( look at native americans) in this way only 2000 years later the world is dieing at mans feet
