  • When i first saw this i thought that Pat was Vanity. They look alike and now they both are devout beautiful christian women.

  • Foster and Ricky are both home for Christmas!

  • I know it's obvious, but -now- come on : this is really a promotionnal video : the horns (trumpets and/or trombones) are not here : there are no trumpeters on stage, especially in the video for "Come Back Lover" ,where the horns are clearly heard; and no strings too on stage (violins)...The group is in its original line-up, with the 5 members -just like on the cover of the album "Concept"- but they had to add that drummer, cause Foster was on lead vocals (and perhaps can't play drums too...)

  • Can't get enough of this song...Foster does an amazing job vocally. They are all so gorgeous here.

  • Is Foster stoned or what?

  • @samira9011

Probally was. Him and Ricky were moderatley doing drugs around this time.

  • Beautiful song. Has been stuck in my head all day.

I was so glad to come home and be able to finally take an actual listen to it.

  • Edmund left the group by this time?

  • Pat is absolutely gorgeous looks like a young Jane Kennedy!

  • @Nanadsyl She did..like a more youthful/cuter version!

  • @Nanadsyl For real. I would have put a ring on both of those ladies finger back then.

  • @Nanadsyl Pat was one of the finest women ever, back then, and even now, where she looks better than most of the actresses and celebrities around.

  • Woah! This was before my time but can't help but be at awe with the beauty of the Sylver sisters. Cannot compare. Great Musicians too!

  • Respond to this video...

Foster developed into handsome young man, as did his voice, since the release of "Misdeamenor". Who knows, maybe he could have launched sn equally successful, solo career as Michael Jackson, with the right management!

  • @TheReneex There is a lot about Foster, that in some ways is better left unsaid.

  • @Belburg

I'm aware that Foster and Ricky made some seroisly poor decisions, later in their adult lives, and are now paying for it, while languishing in prison. I was merely focusing more on his inherent talent, and good looks. Sadly, these two God-given attributes, are in no ways, a type of shield, preventing people from making, bad, personal decisons

  • @Belburg Like what??

  • @Nanadsyl It was in relation to what TheReneex commented on.Very Sad if you really research it.

  • It's a shame that Ricky and Foster had to succumb to drugs, and spend part of the most productive years of their lives in jail!

  • This was one of my favorite groups from back-in-the-day. I still have some of the albums and will be transferring to mp3's. I just saw "Unsung" which explains what happened to them. I didn't know Edmund had died!!! No good news for Ricky and Foster.

  • Whatever happened to them now? I wish they would get together again and do a come back tour or recording. Luv them back then, and still do.

  • @MsLIKA53 :Whatever happened to them now? I wish they would get together again and do a come back tour or recording. Luv them back then, and still do.

  • @MsLIKA53 Watch their Unsung episode.

  • @Nanadsyl Thnx for the feedback.. I really like the group back in the day, & still listen to them now.

  • That's James on the keyboard, but Ricky (on the guitar) is fine too...heck this is the best looking family I have ever seen. There must be about 20 of them in all!

  • What year was this?

  • @Aariyan096 I had to find out for myself because I didnt know that The Sylvers were still releasing records after New Horizons, but this came out in 1981 from their album Concept.

  • @rhmedia1 Oh okay thanx.

  • had the biggest crush on Foster back in the day

  • I said it before, just not on here, but I'll say it again, James was looking tasty in those leather pants, LMAO!

  • They had so much talent!

  • love the sylvers this is a wonderful song love it so much

  • Wow! Foster no longer had that squeeky voice. I like it.

  • Beautiful Song this should have been a hit!

  • Foster has a good singing voice as an adult just like he did as a kid. Very talented family!

  • Hmm...I never knew Ricky Sylvers was left-handed, or at least he plays guitar that way. I believe "Concept" was the only abum the Sylvers made on Dick Griffey's Solar label.

  • @MsTexas73 hate to burst your bubble but Ricky is MINE!!!!!! LOL

  • Back in the day when everyone seemed to have talent. Awesome sound!

  • OK seeing as we have newbies in here, let's go over who is who so you will know.... Singing lead is Foster. Sister on the right in white is Angelia. Sister on the left is Pat...the brother playing guitar is Ricky (and he's MINE...LOL.)...the brother on the keyboard is James (ALSO MINE). Not in this line up: Leon, who helped produce this album, Concept (it's available on itunes and amazon)...Charmaine, Olympia, and Edmund.

  • I didn't know they were viewed as the souther J5 until I read the description. They are super similar though. And whoa! Foster's voice really did mature.

  • If I didnt know better I'd think the keyboardist was the rapper from Whodini...."Freaks come out at night hut hut hut hut!"

  • hey donna....you can have mr keyboards if i can have mr lead!!! lmao......I have never heard of this group nor have i heard this song. What have I been missing out on???

  • Leon was basically solar records. Tha hit maker.

  • my bad, edmund....r.i.p.

  • Foster, r.i.p. man, u can sing !!

  • @Tabooaustin ....not sure if you knew Foster is not dead...infortunately at last report sitting in California Prison serving parole violation.....

  • I like this song....

  • vocals are very indicative of 70's reminds me of those Carpenters albums with those big layers of voices

  • @Crimsonphilosophy More like the 5th Dimension.

  • wow..I think this group is well overdue for an "Unsung" episode. It's a program that currently runs on TVOne and I think they deserve more worthy exposure.

  • @AleekahTV Well ... a start would be looking at Shalamar, Leon Sylvers was the guru behind pretty much all the bands at Solar Records. The Unsung Shalamar documentary on TVOne would be a start ...

    ---

  • Wow! that is Foster? he is way good!

  • Foster is cute! And his voice is strong!

  • Talented, beautiful, and way too much fun!

  • I can't remember ever hearing this song before and now it is a favorite of mine!

  • those harmonies haven't changed, The Sylvers!!

Even country. you think im lying look at the jerk with steve martin and listen to my people singing jump down turn around i got in a fight when i was in jail singin that shit . black power yall

  • those chicks are hot i wonder what they look like today propably still hot

  • Foster sho was fine!

  • the should be on unsung

  • They're all attractive but the keyboard player confuse me I don't know if I should be drooling over his sexiness or turned off by that short skin showing girlie vest.

  • @CoolPhyaMusic Hahaha! Dude was on some Right Said Fred; "I'm too sexy for my shirt..."

  • this song is so beautiful, And James is sexy as hell

  • This is what you call real music, not like the crap you hear these days.

  • I'll be goddamn--this is boss!! : )

  • mon 1er album acheté..De funk en import 33t.. Que du bonheur !! quel super groupe de funk des eighties.. Pour toujours The Sylvers dans mon coeur !!!

  • @soulchildsacomin: most definitely, they all continued to write! but, didn't perform together on a regular basis as much!

  • Which one is angie?

  • @MrMannM1 angie's the one with the white outfit.

  • @mzvoice14 Oh ok and Thank you.

  • They sung it with their heart thou! Respect for the old school!!

  • Omg, is that cute little "just a misdemeanor" Foster singing lead??!! He grew up to have a very strong voice! And is that Leon on the keys??

  • Allez encore 1 fois The Sylvers c'est tellement bon..

QUEL SLOW.. FOREVER IN MY SPIRIT THE SYLVERS... COME ON AND CLOSE YOUR EYES... IT SING LOVE ... QUEL REGRET DE NE PLUS LES AVOIR...

  • The Silvers catalog contains some very polished and refined songs that can certainly be given to some current artists ... but they would be hard pressed to reach the quality of songs like this.

    x

  • Headbands and legwarmers...whew.

  • Foster grew up and had the strongest vocals it seems!!

  • @ewalk4959 That's not Foster that's Ricky

  • @SyrenniaLestrange , I agree with you regarding the Sylvers...!! Michael was the Jackson's ticket to the top..."I love how Jermaine sings too,..."why don't you do what you do, is among my favorite :)....Back then Music was MUSIC!!! :-)

  • A Beautiful melodic tune! The Silvers at their best!

  • Is it just me or is that guy on keyboards fine?

  • @Donnabbb oh no girl it's not just you, that's james on the keys, ricky on guitar, angie, foster & pat on vocals. the entire family were bless with beautiful genes IMO! lol.

  • @Donnabbb Believe me, it's not just you, hon.

  • @Donnabbb LMAO !

  • @Donnabbb I think that's Leon Sylvers III..The genius producer of Solar records.

  • @Donnabbb Chile, there are so many fine men on that stage. The dude on the guitar looks like Prince. Foster was my first crush.

  • @Donnabbb no it not just you he is.

  • @Donnabbb No,you're absolutely correct....James is such a cutie and so down to earth! Anyhow, cool song & video that Foster always had a great voice.

  • @RememberTheTime09 -...wait...that's Foster? I thought it was Ricky....I'm confused :(

  • @meandemjay No you're correct, that's Ricky

  • @meandemjay Huh?! Piano(JAMES---who I agreed was looking super fine),Lead Vocals(FOSTER) and Guitar(RICKY)! On board now?!

  • @Donnabbb - I was thanking they was all kinds of FINE! ...even the girls....and I'm straight! LOL! I wonder what year this is....???????????

  • @Donnabbb That because he is one of their brothers, I think that is James

  • Beautiful song, though the sound reminds me of Shalamar.

  • @Belburg Not a surprise at all. Shalamar was produced by Leon Silvers ... he produced ALL of Shalamar's songs I believe. Watch the 'Over and Over' Shalamar video ... Leon is right there.

    x

  • @GeneralTrousers

Leon produced all of Shalamar's songs (with some help from Foster Sylvers) from 1978's Disco Gardens lp to 1983's The Look lp. According to the inner sleeve of the cd for 1984's Heartbreak lp, Leon had no time to work with Shalamar on any of the songs as well as "Dancing In The Sheets" for Footloose movie. The only other exception was the Go For It lp of which Leon did'nt produce all the songs, some were produced by Howard Hewitt and Jeffrey Daniels.

  • What are their names-from left to right? and what are they doing now?

  • @katie22233 Ricky (guitar), Angie, Foster, Pat, James (keys). by this time Edmund was going solo, Olympia and Charmaine had left, Leon was with his group Dynasty and was producing, and writing for Shalamar, The Whispers, Lakeside, and several other groups including the Solar Family!

  • @Slojamoz

Charmaine did come back in to the group in 1984. From the late 70s and well into the entire 1980s, Charmaine wrote several songs for many of the SOLAR artists including The Sylvers (in 81") and The Whispers as well as co-writing many songs for SOS Band for their 1982 lp, SOS III. She co wrote Janet Jackson's 1983 R&B/Rock hit "Come Give Your Love To Me."

  • the slyvers were a beautiful looking family remember when i was a kid was in love with all the brothers

  • Was tht Foster singing lead?...Oh no...He was the cute one, Wha happened, Please tell me tht wasn't him xD. I like the song though. I definitely no tht feeling.

  • Thanks for posting this Isis. My friend Candace was married to Ricky Sylvers for 10 years. She would get a kick out of seeing this..

  • You're welcome Connie...I knew alot of ppl didn't know about this channel. So I am happy to spread the word.

And a fine thanks to UnidiscMusic for posting all these great videos.

  • I surely remember this video. It was played during intermission at a Rick James concert. Wow, Ricky, James, and Foster. Oh my!

  • Mercy! James and Ricky! ♥

    Thanks for posting this one!

  • 1.) James is SEXY AS HELL!!! GOT DAMN!

2.) Foster at this age sounds a lot like Edmund!

  • James and Ricky...YEAH!...to me Foster sounds more like Leon.

  • i agree hes trying to sound like Leon.

DAMN I MISS THIS FAMILY COME ON BACK PLEASE!!!

  • Not necessarily that he's trying to sound like Leon...he just does....just the way his voice changed. I wish Solar had put more energy into them and they'd never left the label.

  • Nah, Foster's voice is a bit deeper than Edmund. Foster was 19 when this video and the Concept album was released. I wish they made videos for "Reach Out" and "Heart Repair Man" because other than this song, those two were my favorite cuts on the Concept album. Their next and last album album, Bizarre was a kick ass album (listen to "Tension", "Falling For Your Love", the title cut, and "Boomerang" and you'll know what I mean)

  • oh damn ricky and james what can i say!!

    FINE!!!

  • RIIGHT!

  • anyone whos seen my comments on the sylvers knows pretty ricky is my favorite but looking @ this vid im @ a lost for words JAMES IS FINE!!!

  • anyone whos seen my comments on the sylvers knows pretty Pat is my favorite but looking @ this vid im @ a lost for words ANGIE IS FINE!!!

  • Thank you for posting this! Love The Sylvers. Foster's vocals were great, his voice dropped because he became a man. I was just listening to the cd Foster Sylvers Featuring Angie and Pat. Listen to Cotton Candy, Now I want You as well and hear him grow into his voice.

    This was nice. Thank You!

  • Foster's voice really dropped. If it had stayed a bit higher....who knows? He was almost as good as Michael in the early years.
