Top end speed isn't just in the 100m, they reach maxV in the 200m also, same thing, the differenc between the 100m and 200m, you maintain your top end speed and in the 200m you sustain your maxV.

If you put the race in slow motion, and watch. when they reach 70 meters, Bolt does not extend his leed over Tyson from there to the finish. they basically have almost the exact same (top end) speed. In fact it almost looked like Gay closed a bit on Bolt from 70 meters to the finish. The problem is, Bolt is way faster through the first (60) meters. If Gay wants to beet Bolt, somehow he needs to accelerate faster.

Tyson Gays speed is a gradual increase it gets faster as the seconds go by, his top end speed is amazing. But to beat bolt he must accelarate faster and earlier.

Tyson Gay and Usain Bolt are the only two sprinters in exceeding the 44 kph speed-limit in history. Both records were executed in Berlin.
Tyson Gay should continue to improve the first 3 phases of the race (0-40meters) in order to be more likely to be able to beat Bolt.
I know that Tyson is a sprinter whose potential is still unknown and this new season will be more interesting than the last ...

The interesting thing is, even in the Berlin 100m final, where Bolt ran (9.59). If you put the race in slow motion, and watch. when they reach 70 meters, Bolt does not extend his leed over Tyson from there to the finish. they basically have almost the exact same (top end) speed. In fact it almost looked like Gay closed a bit on Bolt from 70 meters to the finish. The problem is, Bolt is way faster through the first (60) meters. If Gay wants to beet Bolt, somehow he needs to accelerate faster.

I agree. Somehow or other Bolt got an insanely good start between the Olympics and the World Championships. If Tysons continues what he's doing and adds more work to his start out of the block, I firmly believe he can do it. (I also thought it looked like Gay was closing on Bolt, he does have better Top-end speed)

Yeah exactly. The key for Tyson is he needs to find a way to start faster & accelerate faster. If i were him id talk to some of the indoor 50/60 meter experts / coaches and find out how they get out so fast. And really work on it. Tyson doesnt need any more top end speed thats for sure.

in fact as that point iof the race40m-80m Gay doesn't have any chance to reach Bolt because 40-60m/1.67secs by Bolt and Tyson did in 1.69secs....60-80m/1.61secs by Bolt and 1.63secs by Gay, been the fastest 20 meter split recorded by both of them.

from my point of view tyson gay should be the closest one 2 maybe outrun usain i doubt asafa powell can cause 1 tyson gay ran a 9,71 going through naggin injuries it seems like everytime the biggest events come up for him he's injured usain hasn't raced him at 100 percent yet. but still 9.58 is fast as hell if tyson wants to run that he's gonna have to work even harder than he does now

well we dont know gay didnt have the chance to compete with bolt at the olympics or any other substantial event he could still be. Also, Ive had it with this best combo runner in history Bolt won at the 2008 olympics. Michael Johnson won at 5 world championships and 3 olympics...

you are right Kingger. unfortunately most pl who post about T&F at YT dont have a clue and make all kinds of stupid, unfounded statements without checking the facts..like the one that shows Bolt and Greene as having faster top speed than Gay, and Bolt holding that for longer also....even Powell being faster than Gay over his best 10m split... His "top end speed" is no better than those champs before him in fact.. the hype is very irritating. he is however a cool cat and very humble/likeable.

not even.. Powell is probably the only person other then Gay that can beat Bolt.. Powell is so inconsistent but if he gets his act together he can and will be the fastest sprinter. he has the best start around but tends to get flustered at the end of a race when he feels Bolt or Gay coming after him, which then he tends to give up.

Definitely rockin is bad. It's physics. You use energy to sway back and forth. In sprintin you want to use as much as ur energy to go forward and not waste any going somewhere else (like swayin) all the while being relax while doing it.
