Whether it works or doesn't work for any reason, it's a good video: same technique repeated from three different angles. Clear and simple. Good work mate.
What a beautiful sweep from half!! Very intricate movement, yet simple enough to be effective.
The timing on the legwork right before the sweep may be a bit tricky, but nonetheless, looks very useful!
Ignore all these people talking about not worth the risk. If you want zero risk, don't train. If you want to develop a full and multi dimensional game, train everything!!!
This sweep is all fine and dandy until someone (the guy on top) with good weight dispersment sinks his hips and flattens his weight, thus taking the leverage needed for this sweep away and rendering it just another failed half-guard sweep. Will work on blues and lower, or higher belts if you roll with tenth planet lmfao...j/k
Well if it won't work on EVERYONE and EVERY time that's it's attempted-- then it's not worth training... We should only stick to those techniques that have no counter and work under any circumstances no matter what the opponent (who is always a black belt) does....
Anyone want to provide a list of all of these techniques that can't be countered, because I'm yet to find them...?!?!
i have one,i call it the flunkypumper from halfguard.reply if you want full details...but the short version is you start out with a rear naked poke, then you move to a concentrated hip thrust in thier lower regions.....
@Slic2121 jiu jitsu isnt perfect.. things happen.. so.. its kinda pointless to say that.. but fast transitions on bigger guys is the way to go .. if youre bigger then use your weight on smaller guys.. but shit happens... lifes a garden, dig it.. haha
@Slic2121 Yea but this is just giving you another option, if you can't use this sweep on a bigger guy, then go to another technique, its as simple as that.
Salute sweep is just like a reverse elevator sweep but you underhook the arm and grab the back of your head. Check out video id 2szp_pl8xis and 0:17 seconds in. That's the salute sweep.
Do you have a video of the version with the double butterfly hook, where you toss the opponent over your head using the elevator then rolling backwards and using the opponent's momentum to land straight on top of him(mount)????
I have worked the X guard and butterfly a lot and when I've gone for this sweep 90%of the time they pull the arm out and post it for stability. That is a perfect oppurtunity to take your right leg inside and set up the X guard sweep. Counter the counter.
Definitely a counter worth learning. I have that video done as well. Thanks for watching and please join our site for free and subscribe to our videos.
Your vids are very useful and being a 4 yr purplebelt. You guys are very knowledged in grappling and you break everything down great.Who was your guys instructor if you dont mind me asking?Keep the vids coming
Silva, bc of his extremely long legs, was able to get a body triangle on Roan from the guard. He then simply put his overhanging leg under Roan's leg as an elevator sweep to take him to mount. Unless you have VERY long legs, this sweep is going to be incredibly difficult to get achieve. However, check out our video covering the "Elevator Sweep" to see how an average person can attain the same sweep setup.
Cheers, keep up the great work. I have a few subscriptions on youtube to fighting tutorial channels and yours is by far head and shoulders above the rest, simple and straight to the point.
My black belt is not in solely a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu system but rather a MMA system under Gray Brown and George Allen. You can see more information about this at my site profile or at the about us page on the site. Thanks!

does this really work if the opponent uses their right arm to post?

I don't think this works sooo good if the other has a tight headcontrole and good strong base...

Wondering if you can help me, do you know the name of the sweep anderson silva used againts roan carneiro in one of this earlier fights??
He gets a body triangle while he has roan in his guard and tucks his left foot inside roans thight a bit like a butterfly guard then sweeps him.
Cheers, love all your vids
