  • Hi Doug

Interesting analogy and explanation of the electronics. I own RDF Services and I detect dirty switching power supplies. If you want to know more, my email is ve7sq@rac.ca or skype at bobve7sq.... it could be of a monetary interest for you...

  • Interesting. Always helps when a professional explains it. Thanks for the upload

  • Can it be dangerous to human life?

  • Here in Italy are actually for sale (various brand but all made in China) some DVB-T scart compact decoder that work with a 5V switching wall power supply. One of these at work inhibits BC AM band reception in an entire house and nearby. I'm badly surprise of that, due to CE marks presency, and I'm asking how can those shits be sold as EMC compilant!

  • They are likely not compliant. Many products from China fall into this category.

  • Nice video. I found that to be very interesting. I would also like to see what you're still picking up if the cover is on the PS. The interesting thing is that with that kind of voltage being induced in your loop, I wonder how that effects the performance of the PS both with harmonics and the efficiency due to the eddy currents that are undoubtedly produced in the case.

  • A metal case will have induced eddy currents that will reduce the fields outside of the supply significantly.

  • I'm wondering how loud 4 volts would sound if you pointed it toward the sky and tuned a radio to whatever fundamental frequency the power supply operates at? I can hear my cable modem supply at least 200 feet from the wall wart outside the house on 5.0 Megahertz. I cannot listen to WWV at night. The Internet, with its dirty switching power supplies and unshielded Ethernet cable, really ruins the shortwave experience. Are there quieter Ethernet cables available? I already tried the foil trick.

  • I have the same problem here. Not sure what to do as I need my network.
