I'm 21, in college for Game Design, introvert and have AS. I've pooped only like 4 times since 2009, but I enjoy watching them. I think I discovered pooping after watching top 10 best and worst video game, one of which were the Zelda CDi games. I tried looking it up on youtube, but the videos I kept on finding were remixes of the intros. Soon I decided to watch one of them and loved it since. My younger brothers found my YouTube channel and discovered pooping that way, 2 of which have ASD also.
@BenderPictures Most people at my school who are familiar with YTP are somewhere on the autistic spectrum. This might be why some poopers are so brilliant but are never heard about outside of the internet. My parents are psychologists and I have Aspergers (but due to therapy you can rarely tell).
18:07 I'm not sure if he's right about this one....
I became a troll because I enjoyed the idea of causing others pain, and being chastised for it, and the fact that I found both equally amusing.
I've recently realized that real trolling is much more sneaky than what I usually do (ie; post pro-alQaeda comments on 9/11 vids and try to flame 12-year-olds on Pokemon forums to suicide), so I guess I'm just a complete asshole who hides behind a computer screen.
@meleeham Yeah, you should really factor ADD into this. I've got Predominantly Inattentive type/Sluggish Cognitive Tempo, and it makes activities that require my attention for long periods of time very difficult to enjoy. I think part of the reason I enjoy YouTube Poop so much is that it provides quick audio/visual stimulation that only requires the viewer to make connections to references and video sources, you don't have to think or analyze complex stories and plots, it's raw entertainment.
My opinion with Shy/reserved/Austistic people being more creative when it comes to youtube poop is... I used to be shy, and I avoided crowds of people, That had given me the time to think, and contemplate myself, Creating a better creativity point in my brain. People with a lower social life have more time to think by themselves, thus forging new ideas, making themselves more creative.
Haha, that's super interesting. I don't watch/make ytps per se, but my sister makes them. I think it may have an interest pattern amongst that group of people. Good job on that little survey you did. It's definitely an enlightenment for me on the world my sister is in. XD Once again even though I'm not into ytps, it's still refreshing to see such intellect on youtube. Thank-you. ^^
Didn't know that children over 10 years old can watch YouTube Poop videos, even though I have a few friends between the age of 13 threw 15 years old are fans of YouTube Poop. To be honest, I didn't even know 30% of people who made YouTube Poop videos have Mental Disorders. Yet, I have to agreed with people who are shy IRL. I started to watch YTP videos like around the age of 15 (I was a sophomore at the time), and I was shy then. You sir, get a thumbs up for this.
Gonna toss my 2 cents in here. Youtube poop is diverse, and for someone with autism, it may be their best source of comedy. I haven't seen many youtube poops full of things people with autism wouldn't 'get', such as long-winded anecdotes, sarcasm, turn-of-phrase, etc. Youtube Poop is here, in your face, and for the most part doesn't have some deeper meaning that would be hard for autistic people to understand. Of course there are exceptions, but aren't there always?
I am ten years old and I make YouTube poops... I have been watching them since I wanted to watch Chowder on YouTube... and I found YouTube Poops. I was probably 8 or 7... and I have been making YouTube Poops since at least a couple days after my birthday (which was a couple months ago) and those were spadinner poops, and a couple months later, I made effect poops with downloaded effects for WMM, and now I am using Sony Vegas 6. I believe I am the youngest Sony Vegas pooper.
Wow. Definitely the most insightful show yet. I already knew most of what was going to be said in this, since I saw it on the forums. But I still really enjoyed watching this. I remember you said in one of your earliest shows that the newest show was always going to be the next best one. Well, it looks like you've been right about that.
this is extremely interesting not just for youtube poopers but for the youtube community in general because in some youtubers vlogs they seem very out going but they actually are dull in real life and cant deal being in big crowds and i love that you actually spent the time to try to get to know other youtube poopers amazing upload
DAAAAMN! This was a good episode. A chemistryguy interview was the best thing that you could put in. Once I get back from vacation, I'm gonna seriously get cracking on my own study. I'll probably use this episode and your thread on YC and TLD as reference, seeing as if I want to go as deep as possible and beyond just who YTPers are, it'll be better to dig deeper in the hole you already started digging.
Yeah, I'd go with the median as well with such a small sample size and outliers (me). I still thought the average age would be younger...and maybe it is.
Nice way of tying it all together, Bender. And thanks again for having me on.
I'm his cousin, and i know he likes Avatar TLA. I think the voice at the beginning is his Ozai impression or somehow inspired by the Fire Lord. He even has an Avatar song playing later in the video. To me, I just don't see how those two being in there is a coincidence, especially with the voices he has. XD
As someone who has Asperger's, I can totally see your point on spending more time on the computer. In fact, it's sort of a hobby for me. That's how I came across youtube poop in the first place. And I do feel like all the randomness and effects somehow naturally attracts me to where I am highly entertained. I have no idea what it is, but something about youtube poop really makes me enjoy it. While I don't consider myself apart of the community, I do spend most of my time on youtube watching it.
I started when I was 13; I'm 15 now. I'm surprised I still make these videos because I am actually very mature compared to a lot of the people my age. I think the study you did was very interesting. You should really do more studies on this.
Nice use of Right Here Right Now, Bender.

That had nothing to do with YTP.
