Lutherans are break off of the catholic church, because the catholics have become so corrupt. the catholics was, is , and will be the christian church that has lost it's love it had at first. trusting more in money, worshiping earth goddess, but not too late for catholics to repent, and reform. It's tougher to be a Lutheran CHRISTian. there is no purgatory, and if you sin against someone you must ask forgiveness from that person, and not a priest with hail Marys.
I was born Baptist and came to believe in Jesus and his salvation for me while I was there, but I wanted more tradition and for awhile flirted with Catholocism. Now that I am Lutheran I have found the best of both world from the previous two churches I was a member of.
Yes, to Sola Scriptura...but we as Lutherans accept as true expositions of the faith given us in scripture the three creeds passed by councils, and indeed use tradition to help us in our interpretation. Luther was indeed critical of various traditions, but held on to others tenaciously. Beyond this we have our own tradition, especially that which is from our doctrinal book, the Book of Concord.
I love my Lutheran Church and I love Jesus! I'm glad to know Christ!!!!! But I'm sick of Catholics beating up on our church--get over it, would you? And then the crazies from other church denoms that don't even know what Lutherans believe go talking stupid about it--Take the log out of your own eye before you try to remove the speck from your brother's eye! Accept and Believe in Christ as your Savior and you will be saved!!
Give up your bronze age myths. Your god is imaginary. There are no talking snakes, magical gardens, people living in whales bodies.
People simply adopt the beliefs of their parents. If you were born in India you would be a Hindu. Its all about where you were born. Laughable.
Imagine if i said I think Elvis is still alive. You would say well there is no reason or proof to believe such a thing. When i would say well i still believe you would simply laugh at me.
@xxTaNoReXiccx well actually that's exactly what your doing there are lots of things that differentiate them I am Lutheran but I feel it lacks the true faith that Jesus taught so I am converting to the true church of Orthodoxy.
The first thing is a true understanding of the Gospel so that one can understand the importance of Grace Alone.
The second great question is whether one has a view that the Bible is the inspired and Inerrant Word of God or something you get to vote on.

Born Lutheran. Always a Lutheran. XP
Catholicism seems beautiful though.. I feel like I want to switch. O_O
I mean, they're both Christian, so its not like I'd be switching religions or anything.
