You're exactly right, the truth is very important...that's why God has it all layed out for us in the bible...there's no other way to explain how people over the span of approx. 1500 years wrote about the same God and Him working in their life, therefore it is the truth...and about how there is suffering in this world, God has a master plan, sometimes I have no idea why things happen the way they do in my life, BUT there is a reason for everything and God is in control...
