why do the rear brake lights flash?

It's an optical effect, done by the camera, i've seen it on other videos too

@patatasete no is not is the signaling light because is on all new cars from 2010 that including the mercedes s65 amg or the new 2010 audi a8

it has to do with the way LEDs create light and how a camera picks it up. Its the same sort of effect as flashing screens when you film a tv screen or monitor

@AustinS1989 it's because the refresh-rate of the LED and the Camera. They are not the same so it appears like this on the camera.

You can see the same effect on Audis e.g.

@AustinS1989 It is because of many of the new technologies to save consumption of power from your cars battery they actually have pusing signals sent to the LED lights hundreds of times a second. The refresh rate on the cams sometimes picks it up because they are not in sync
